Anyone know how to find a growing mentor?

I was looking for a reputable site.... not sure if I want to go this route though (unless you guys tell me otherwise) I saw one called seedsman and msnl. I was looking for chemdog and a haze that maybe wouldn’t be out of my league. and found krypt 91 that looks fire... still searching for that haze tho
I’ve read through most of this thread, and trust me, you’re in good hands here! I started my grow a little over a year ago and after browsing a few forums, I landed here. I have had so much direct help from the peeps here and so much more help just from endless reading!
To answer your question about “reputable” sites, you have @Dino Party offering free gear.....TAKE IT! Lol. I haven’t personally grown his gear YET, but watching him here and on IG, I would pay him ten times over for his gear before I bought one pack from msnl. Also, most of the banks everyone has been listing, Great Lakes Genetics, DCSE, and a few others will send along free seeds with your order......I have more free packs from GLG than I can count! Lol. So, in short, the “smaller” seed banks are the way to go.
I also wouldn’t sleep on that seed offer or knowledge from Dino....

Agreed. I have had great offers, unfortunately, I live in Canada, and with everything with this government, I wouldn't want any of my American friends risking cross border shipments. If the big seedbanks won't do it, I can't and won't expect them to.

So, yeah.....snag 'em up when you can!

Canucks we need to get something going......

Ive sent packages to our neighbors to the north many times without an issue, and will happily do so again!

I've actually switched out my Outer Room sensor and wifi plug about a week ago, and just run an Inkbird temp controller, and my dehumidifier left on constantly, set at 40%, and the outer room is perfect. It's been about a week and I haven't had a single high or low temp warning.....bouncing perfectly between 22.5 & 23°C

InkBird is solid gear. I have temp and RH controllers and they just work. WiFi controllable ones are an option now too.

If you decided to go the way I have, there are certain things I can share, and certain things I can't because they are specifically named or have a specific static IP address, and your setup would need to match....otherwise endless debugging and editing.

Honestly, if you value your time as money, InkBird is the better option. Its great gear, straight up
I have spent a lot of time on this lol.....sometimes pulling my hair out while doing so lmao!!!

"WTF!!!!! Why isn't it working?"

After an hr of debugging:

"Oh, I spelled Outer Room, Outer Rooom....fudge!!!"

Lol!
I’ll check out inkbird! All of this is kind of confusing however it is interesting af. I am guessing this is a system that automated temp and humidity control at the very least?

He meant DCSE.... DC Seed Exchange. Excellent seed vendor. Takes CashApp and money orders. I'm also a big fan of JBC Seeds. And Great Lakes Genetics (GLG is cash or money order only though, which can be inconvenient obviously)

Seedsman is fine and has some good genetics but they're in Spain so assuming your in the US the shipping times can be absurd and there's always the risk customs bags your package. I like ordering US genetics... support some local businesses. MSNL sucks IMO so I'm with Capt on that one for sure.

There are some wonderful breeders on this site too. @HydroRed has gear available as 3thirteen Seeds at DCSE and GLG. @Schwaggy P is at GLG as Schwaggy's Seeds. @Amos Otis is Briscos Bargain beans and @Frimpong is FREAK genetics, both available at DCSE. @Dino Party and @thenotsoesoteric both sling fire and sell direct from their own sites. All of these guys prices are hard to beat as well. Also highly Useful Seeds to start with, which are available at JBC and DCSE as well.

There are certainly tons of other good breeders out there but those guys all charge reasonable prices so if you screw up your not out hundreds and their stuff is reliable. Plus you can ask them questions directly which is always a plus.

Most folks on here could talk genetics for an eternity so if you have questions on particular strains definitely let us know.
Thank you! This is prob a dumb question but

In my 6x6 I run an intake assist fan because of its size. The intake fan is tied to the same power block as the big exhaust, so they run together when triggered.

I actually designed my own thermo control system using SensorPush sensors, Kasa/TPLink (wifi plugs), Android and Tasker (main automation brain) so I can do whatever I want with them, set it to run non-stop, or cyclical (temp/humidity) controlled, all from an interactive scene, remotely via my phone or tablet. Still working on it......

The vast majority of the time, however, it uses the sensors to decide when to run. Continuous mode is usually only needed in the summer.

Also, I'm not actually using the T6 model, I am using VivoSun brand models, but they work all the same.

The best way I have found to keep a steady temp/humidity range in my tents is to feed the tent the right temp and humidity by controlling the temp and RH of the outer room

If I keep my outer room they sit in at 22-23°C, and between 40-45% RH or so, my tents stay perfectly between 24-25°C, and 45-55% RH.

Sometimes their exhausts run long, sometimes short, depends on how hot it is outside, how hot the house is, whether the dehum runs long etc.

Sorry for the long answer lol
I appreciate the long answer! Thanks!

for fertilizer ;
you could easily for your first run just a good base and cal/mag supplement and Also fulvic/humic acid and have enough supplies for 2-3k in gallons worth of fert for under 100 bucks.

I recommend grow more or jacks for a new comer but no need fo pay for water and overpriced bottles.

And Remember It's:

- 3.6 grams/gallon Part A (5-12-26) and dissolve then add

- 1.1 grams/gallon Epsom Salts and dissolve completely then add

- 2.4 grams/gallon Part B (Calcium Nitrate) “

good source for fulvic and humic and great value :
This would be an example of a daily feed?

There are all kinds of ways you can save money going into this. dont fall for all the gimmickey stuff people are gonna try and sell you. Not saying everything listed is unnecessary, but theres certainly a lot of stuff i see that i've never used and will never pay for.

Thanks Dino! I’ll absolutely check out your site! Where can I find a link or what do I google?!

Yeah they are temp and humidity probes you stick in your tent/room, and you can set the temp you want, then set high and low differentials. When those limits are breached, either your heater/AC/exhaust fan/dehumidifier is turned on, then turned off when back in your desired range.

They have all sorts of models. Strictly temp. Strictly humidity. Combos. Combos that have night and day temp limits (this is the one I want). Some that are WiFi controllable. All depends what you need.

This one is strictly a temp controller. The green tape is to dim the display, this room is blacked out for my flowering tents and it lights up the outer room. Needed to dull it a bit.

The temperature probe, the silver thing....
1613615664978.jpg

It has two outlets. One for a device to cool (AC or exhaust fan) when the room is warm and a port for heat when temps get low (heater, dehumidifier can be subbed in)

1613615754422.jpg

I made mine dual zone, one zone only runs when the tents are on, the other runs anytime it's warm and the digital timer makes sure it retains the time, a mechanical timer won't work doing this...

1613615719394.jpg

Mine is set to only trigger with high temps, I don't heat the room, I have a dehum that just sits here at 40-45%.

1613616115342.jpg
It dries the air, the air gets warm, the high temp triggers and my exhaust fans come on and cool the outer room down.

Main exhaust that runs anytime the temp is high..... 1613616250947.jpg

This fan only runs when the tents are lit up......the 2nd zone I made......it just pumps in cold outside air anytime the main exhaust is also running

1613616272784.jpg

This setup morphs all the time. I thought northern Canada would be a breeze with cool air. No. We have such extreme weather switches, I have to sometimes pump air in, in the summer I do a draw thru setup....I point the fans outside and suck air thru the house and up and out this rooms window. Winter is sketchy because humid air clogs window screens.....drips from pipes, so I have to set it this way when it's super cold.
It's a chore, but I can maintain temps and RH like a son of a bitch. I just change with the seasons man lol
