Hi guys! Thanks for replying! I heard about BC Bud quite a bit and as I got more knowledge of strains, crosses, and genetics, I started wondering what exactly it was. When I lived in Montreal back in 2006 - 2007 there was a LOT of Weed in Quebec, and I saw cops literally just not care people were smoking it on the streets of Montreal, which I was just dumbfounded by as someone born in America might be, but also kind of intrigued that they simply seemed to ignore weed unless it was being grown and sold in large numbers. I had heard in Quebec at the time "A lot of the weed sold as BC Bud is actually grown here" but I never managed to verify what I heard so I just thought I'd simply ask since "BC Bud" has a near legendary status.

I could kick myself for not asking for seeds of Afghani though.... I do remember that was pretty popular with my ex back when I was living there, along with G13 I think? There were a few strains that I'd hear about but at the time I knew very little about it so I didn't even think to question any of it. From what you guys are saying though, BC Bud probably was multiple strains then?

And oh man..... Purple Kush is on my "list" (A list of about 400 strains I want to track down and try) and I simply haven't been able to find it so far. It's sort of like Grand Daddy Purple; I know what it is, but I can't find any LOL. I actually have heard about the Alaskan / Matanuska Thunder Fuck before, and I even have a Cartridge of Alaskan Thunder Fuck as I wanted to give it a go.

Thanks for taking time to give me some info; Google was not a lot of help trying to learn what it was by far haha.

The Afghani that was mentioned; Is that THE Afghani? As in the land race pure Indica plant that makes me want to ignore the dangers and visit that country anyway? (I mean, Mazar-I-Shariff is there too..... The Kush Mountains...... I'm in Michigan anyway I'm just as likely to get shot here as there LOL) but yeah if I had a chance to go see some of these places, it'd be hard to turn down given the "scent profile" I've heard some of these ancient strains have.

The Afghani, I couldn't tell you but it was very stocky, stinky and a great producer. I can't leave out the skunk we had back then too... oh man.

And yeah Quebec produces a ton of pot, always has. When they called Quebec grown bud "BC Bud" it could be that they were growing strains that came from here. BC was certainly the home to some amazing breeders, and still is to an extent. But in 2006-07, what you would have seen called BC Bud in Quebec would have almost certainly been BC Purple Kush, whether it was grown here or in Quebec.. It was indeed a legendary strain. In my opinion it's the one that really sealed BC's reputation. Not that we weren't exporting pure gold for decades before that lol.

Hi guys. I live in Michigan so growing up Canada was like that other state where you had to show ID to enter, and I've loved many a things from Canada.... Skinny Puppy, Poutine when I lived in Montreal, Gutter Demons, Foufs bar.... There's more but I actually want to know if anyone here has info about "BC Bud". I can't really find any info about it, and I'm wondering if it's a Land Race strain, or a cross of other stuff that was done in BC, and basically any info I can find would be nice. Seemed like this was a place to ask that as Google didn't help much LOL.
Go to "Seedfibders.eu" for info and Growdiaries.com for grows !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happy hunting Did a dfew grows years ago with BC but forget the strains but the genetics were OK

My experience with Canadian people that love weed is good to a point I still use Nutrients on my plants from BC. When my soon to be Father in Law said he picked up Nutrients that we could use (This is my third year growing Weed, and I read a LOT) I looked at the package and it was BC, and I said it should do nicely since I knew about BCs culture of weed. I've never gotten to go there, but I'd love to one day. It's the weed location bucket list maybe? LOL Afghanistan and India and quite a few places are on there haha.

Afghani would probably have quite a smell to it, as I managed to find a group from India that has been traveling and collecting Land Race strains from quite a few places including Mazar-I-Shariff which I'd like to get a crack at growing. From what I've seen of it, there's Land Races in Afghanistan that have a gas smell to them, which is pretty awesome for me, as I'm a fan of "the gas" LOL.

Skunk #1 is another strain I'd love to track down; I know it's been around since the 70s but that pungent smell from weed has me follow my nose so quick you'd think I was in a cereal commercial LOL.

Skunk #1 is a hybrid marijuana strain that has influenced cannabis on a global scale, parenting a horde of Skunk crosses since it first bloomed in the late 1970s. Sacred Seed Co. originally bred Skunk #1 using diverse genetics from around the world; Afghani, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold varieties converged through an intricate selective breeding process that spanned several generations, and finally the genetic cornerstone of countless cannabis hybrids was born.

The original Skunk #1 gave rise to several variations that were later harvested in the gardens of Sensi Seeds, Dutch Passion, Flying Dutchmen, Nirvana Seeds, and Royal Queen Seeds. As its name suggests, Skunk #1 buds radiate with an aromatic blend of sour skunkiness and subtle earthy notes. This hybrid offers elevated creativity through its high-energy buzz, while stress and appetite loss melt away with Skunk #1’s potency.
----------------------
I copied and pasted this because it says that Sacred Seed Co. did the original? Not sure if they're still around or not as I haven't ever used a Seed Bank before, but I do see Sensi Seeds listed there, and from what I understand, Sensi Seeds Skunk #1, is how we get UK Cheese !!!!!!!! I LOVE UK Cheese! The fact that someone got the first UK Cheese plant sprouted from a pack of Skunk #1 Seeds as a Phenotype is just AWESOME and adds to the cool factor of Skunk #1 in my opinion LOL.

You guys ever had any of the Cheeses ? My all time FAVORITE strain EVER is Blue Cheese, and I've also had UK Cheese and LOVE it. The Pungent yet delicious profile in smell and taste of these is just wonderful in my opinion. I do have what are supposed to be some Super Skunk seeds I got given to me, but I didn't have room to try them this year, so they're going to probably go in next year along with the GMO seeds I got which I'm also super excited about LOL.

"Trump Seeds" has some interesting strains with "cheese" ( he's listed on Seedfinders)

Was going to post this in the Fishing Thread, but with all the added hockey talk in the article I figured the Canada thread was a bit more appropriate.

“These fish go aerial, they fly right out of the water"

@Ramjet159 do you guys have sturgeon down there?

These fish go aerial, they fly right out of the water…like a pan-fried trout coming out of the water, trying to shake the hook. Only you can imagine how this one looked. So big.”

Er , um , yeah -
Bullshit?

''These fish'' ,,,,
Or was it 'that' fish ?

Most people describe landing a Sturgeon as " winching out a ditched car "

Neither predator, or prey. We are talking about a docile dinosaur.

I've seen 'em go airborne lots of times in the North Saskatchewan river. It's amazing to see. It's true they are docile once you handle them, but the power when they are fighting is amazing.

That one is well under the three foot 'keep'
In Alberta, sturgeon have been catch and release for 20 years or better. There is no 'keep' at any size.
Not sure about Saskabush. Do you ever get over there to fish? I keep meaning to go for a drive and catch my first bass and Sask is the closest place for me.

BEAUTIFUL! We have Lake Sturgeon here in Michigan, and I'm Hoping to catch one sometime soon now that I have gear I feel is capable of handling one, LOL:

XH Big Cat Fever Rod (PURE S-Glass Rod Blank, reinforced Stainless Steel Guides, Aluminum Reel Seat)

Penn Fathom Lever Drag 25!! (I LOVE Lever Drag Reels, and by far the Penn Fathom Lever Drag is my favorite! I also have a 15). I'm mainly into Catfish, but I do enjoy catching Carp too, and I'd LOVE a Sturgeon! My Grandpa caught one back when I was younger.

What kind of gear are you guys using on those ones??

^ The other hooks and the Reel can give you an idea how big those HD Hooks are, LOL they're massive!

Yeah Sturgeon are totally capable of killing a human, but so are a lot of fish. I have an Amazonian Red Tail Catfish as a pet.

Like you, we only have the lake sturgeon here, which "only" get to 150 pounds or so, not like those massive white sturgeon in the above post.

A long rod both for fighting and casting is important. Pretty much everyone uses heavy braid(40-80#) for line. A reel with a large capacity is vital, since if a big girl she decides she's going for a run there's not lot you can do but hope she doesn't spool you.

Seeing a 4 or 5 foot long sturgeon completely clear the water is amazing, especially in a water body where the next biggest fish (Northern Pike) is rarely seen above 10 pounds. When they smash back into the water it sounds like a tree falling or someone throwing a log.

I've seen a lot more caught than I've caught myself, but I always feel awe in their presence. It's the closest I'll ever get to time travel: hanging out with a dinosaur.

OTOH, I rarely have the patience to target them. You may get into a night where your group gets 4 or 5 or more, but one guy I know who specializes in catching and tagging sturgeon from the NSR says many years he averages around 12 hours of trying for every dino caught.

Damn, that's quite a commitment.

The redtail catfish is an extremely popular fish in Amazonian-themed exhibits at public aquaria, where they are often housed with other large fish, such as Colossoma macropomum or pacu, and other large catfish.
Juveniles are often available as aquarium fish, despite their eventual large size. In an aquarium where they may be well-fed, these fish can grow quite rapidly,[9] and require tanks of at least 10,000 l (2,600 US gal) when fully adult.[4]

I used to have aquariums. Loved my oscars, but could barely afford to feed the voracious bastards. Watching them gorge until they had a tail hanging from their mouth, then gulping down another guppy as soon as their mouths were empty was a reminder that nature don't fuck around. ;)

Amarok; Yeah bro he's one of my three Catfish species I currently keep. Aquariums are.... Not really suited to the abuse of something that can weigh over a hundred pounds slamming into the sides (He's recently learned to knock the lid off his house) and we have a pond ready to move him to soon since he's getting to big for a "normal" aquarium LOL. We also have an Eclipse Catfish from India and he's about the size of a legal to keep Channel Catfish already haha! The expensive part once you have a pond or small pool is basically feeding him; They aren't really known for being "full" and will essentially eat themselves to death.

No joke bro they can literally grow an INCH a WEEK..... And that's feeding every other day or so... LOL. Massive fish and BEAUTIFUL. Petting a Catfish is also kind of cute haha.

For the Sturgeon; The Fathom Lever Drag 25 can generate 33 pounds of Drag, and yet I'm able to cast it so I DO love that Reel. I've got 50 pound Mono mainline right now, but if I was going for a Sturgeon, I may actually use Braid and then Mono top shot. Beautiful fish!
