Canadian Growers Thread - Canucks Represent!

(especially since it's only virtual space so we won't have to worry about getting our pockets picked by you shady Penal Colony types).

Lol my Aussie friend would probably crack up at this.

I get the feeling that self-important pencil pushers who try to save us poor blue collar types from our own massive stupidity are a worldwide phenomenon.

As well, these types of people are often found in places of power, parliament, senate, congress....lol.

Marcus Foligno gets in a scrap with a rookie Russian defenseman. He pops the kid with a couple good ones and gets him leaking some ketchup, and he realizes the kid is in over his head, so he calls in the linesmen to end it. 👏 👍👍

“I caught him with the first one, and the second one made him bloody. I know he's a young kid and probably didn't know the fighting aspect of it. I just thought it was enough,” said Foligno

You can pretty much guarantee that rich prick will now be dealing with endless hassles, via the Streisand Effect. There will be BC boys going out of their way to fuck with that guy, and all the power to them.

For those who don't know, Alberta has seen a massive influx of Filipinos over the last ~20 years, in the cities, but also in the small towns. It's been a learning experience for everybody on both sides, with a lot of lovely stories.

Gerd Schmidt was born in Berlin, Germany, and moved to Saskatchewan in 1955, where he worked on a farm. He and Elaine were married in 1968 and moved to Claresholm in the 1970s.

"[Gerd] didn't have any family in Canada, either," said Elain Schmidt. "He said when he came over, people helped him, so he wanted to help somebody, too."

This old gem and his wife volunteered to babysit an infant for free so his mom was able to return to work and earn a living. He was just 'passing it along" over 50 years later. The baby is now 10, and Gerd has passed away, but he still has his 'Canadian Grandma'.

Parachute in with all the gear and have a helicopter come pick you up later lol. That'd be a hell of a day. Bring a few friends in ghillie suits and holding cameras so you can film the cocksucker when he makes his rich people threats.....or just bury him out there lol

Only other Canadians who don't live in the Center of the Universe can understand the pain it causes me to post a positive article about a member of the hated Maple Laffs, but credit where due. I am now a fan of John Tavares the human being.

He and his wife met in high school while both volunteering to work with students with intellectual disabilities and the experience was so positive that all these years later he is still giving back.

Through his foundation, Tavares is partnering with Special Olympics Canada to promote and raise funds for its Unified Sports programs, which aim to integrate individuals with and without intellectual disabilities on teams for training and competition to promote social engagement and development.
------------------------
"That's what the program is all about. That's the change we're hoping to make - that young people will reflect on that experience with a person with an intellectual disability and carry that into their own lives.
"Suddenly we have a world that is far more inclusive and far more accepting and recognizing that everyone has something to contribute."

-------------------------
Tavares said he hopes students and young people get as much out of the program - which already runs in schools and communities across Canada - as he and Aryne did.

I've had similar overwhelmingly positive experiences, and I have so much respect and appreciation for anyone who works to make life better for those who don't have what we all take for granted.
