Ed Rooney: Back to School

Sensi Star finished up.

Turned out really nice, some of the pheno's are quite gassy which surprised me.

Going to run all the phenos again and this time label them before chopping, there is a really white one in there I didn't notice until it was dry.

Can't wait to do some crosses with the Pua and the Lilac Affie. 20220303_093245.jpg

Sensi Star is an ol classic producer.
Has some great examples of old school.

Indeed it is, the better half's first comment was she got this wonderful feeling of nostalgia.

The Double Black (domina) was similar but Sensi is all class.

I gave a sample to one of the young blokes and it knocked him on his ass, he got all nauseous - insisting the whole time he wasn't greening out!

I want to do some crossed shortly to the Pua and Lilac Affie.

Deadhead OG x Mazar

Let this one go for a couple more weeks and wasn't disappointed. It got nice and tight and easy to trim.
So different to everything else I've been running, its got that papaya smell, not mango but still that nice 'greenness' to to that I haven't smelled
in a while.

Pua, tall and short pheno's.

It's too damn hot and humid here at the moment, I've added extra fans and the dehumidifiers are working overtime.

Mirka OG. Afgooey x Yeti F3,
I was interested in this line originally as I've been gifted a few Afgooey crosses and thought I might look for the quick finishing pheno's and use that for a cross.
Then I started reading about the Yeti.
Apparently Loompas Yeti F3 popped by Cultivators Choice and taken to F4 on the Underdog/Headband side. "{the male] was a snow/black domina dad that had been worked many generations and stabilized in the hills of Humboldt county by fellow Dead heads." that made up the Headband. So now I have something I can cross to my Double Black and see where that leads.

I love fresh seeds, all popped really quick. 13 from 13.

I’m with you Ed, I love when they are babies and needy.

Oh boy, when I mentioned some of the Pua cuts weren't doing so well......I meant it.

Broad Mites have decided to grace my beloved plants.

20220324_141702.jpg

So far it's only the cuts that look infested. Everything else is looking ok. Nothing in the second veg and both flowering tents are dong fine.

I've given the cuts a hose down with Sulphur and I've got some predatory mites on the way.

Planted some alyssum around the two mothers in the tent, these are going to be pollen hosts for my little friends to preserve their numbers once they get through snacking on the mites. I'll do releases in all 4 tents to make sure I'm covered. I really like the different smell of having something else in my room and am going to get more.

Repotted the Sensi Star and Double Black mothers out of their plastic pots and into 40L (10gal) fabric.

Knock em dead Ed!
In other atrocious news the 4 Lilac Affies females all popped nuts and have been binned, along with all the cuts.

It has been a hot run and temps have been too high. The Double Black in the same tent have remained stable but are foxtailing.

That's unfortunate. Are the lights maybe too close or intense?

Yep, they stretched way more than I anticipated for heavy indicas, actually doubled in height and ended up too close, but that was only 2 of the 4. The other 2 were fine. I think anything even slightly hermi prone would show itself under the conditions over the past few weeks.

I've filled out the space with another 9 cuts I had in waiting, it's been really good running smaller plants I'm liking it a lot.

Apparently there is 10k little soldiers in here ready to go to town on the broad mites.
I've literally got cuts packed next to each other and they haven't touched the Sensi Star and Domina but are devouring the Deep Chunk.

Cuts are starting to look a lot better, gave them another hit with Sulphur yesterday. It's so weird they are only going after the Deep Chunk and the Pua, they love that old school!

I ran some cuts of the Double Black in small pots with limited veg time, I've been pleasantly surprised, small plants have been a pleasure to grow and I'm going to do more of them. I've always liked growing bigger plants and love to see them fill out but small plants seem so much more efficient.

Found them!

Can't believe I am so excited when my grow is getting eaten but here we are.

I've now got a pot of alyssum in every tent to help keep my bugs happy once they get through the mites.

I had trouble seeing the little fellas when they charged forward . I failed to provide an alternate food source after the mites got shredded so i will know better next round

Thanks for the hot tip on the predatory mites, I'm sure it was you that posted a link a while back.

Plants are looking much better now. It's really interesting to see that some varietals are more susceptible than others.
I've kept up a weekly low dose spray of Sulphur just to make sure the critters are made extinct.
