What’s up Phenohunters,
I’m Chili. Here’s a little background info on me:
Like many of you, I have a very intimate relationship with this plant… my wife might say obsessed. I eat, drink, smoke and dream it. I have sacrificed my very freedom for this plant and witnessed it heal the most dire of diseases.
I’ve been at this for nearly 15 years and have grown in organic, no-till soil for the last 10 years. I’ve grown out many legendary cuts, thousands of seeds from many different breeders and been breeding myself for 10 years.
I’ve trolled nearly every cannabis related forum since the beginning but I have never made an account or posted until now. Congrats phenohunters on poppin my Cherry lol! The vibe from this community is very inviting and dare I say, magnetic.
In this thread I will attempt to document ongoing breeding projects and all the varieties grown in the garden, some past and some present. Lastly, I look forward to continuing to follow the grows posted on these forums, engaging with this community, becoming a part of it and hopefully building some relationships with like-minded folks.
As you can probably tell from this long rambling monologue, I am likely a supervillain or maybe I just don’t get out much… spoiler alert: it’s both lol. But seriously enough about me… without further ado, here’s some bud porn to get it poppin!
First up is my sour Amnesia S1 cut aka the Ricky Williams. “So damn good, you’d quit the NFL for her” according to my roommates at the time. I found her in a hunt through 30+ seeds found in a half pound of sour amnesia picked up near solana beach SoCal in 2010. Some of the finest I have ever seen to this day. If you run in NorCal circles and I mean in the sticks NorCal not the bay, then you have likely run across her before. They still grow here up there to this day. She’ll have you mumbling, stumbling, smiling ear to ear and skippin on sunshine. Big, fat, fast-finishing dark grenade flowers with ridiculous trich coverage.
Next up, is her daughter/granddaughter aka Closer to the Sun (Sour Amnesia s1 ‘RW cut’ x Icarus) created by my partner and I (RIP) in 2014. Slightly stoopid fan anyone? Icarus is Sour Amnesia s1 ‘RW cut’ x Bodhis sunshine daydream, created in 2013 or 2014. Been so long I forget. She chunks out, trichs out and throws more spear shaped nugs than the grenades the RW cut is known for. Closer to the sun phenos predominately smelled of blueberry-butter-candy and some included a heavy diesel funk as well.
I thought long and hard about what I wanted to pair with my sour amnesia cut. In my experience, it’s not just about combining two incredible cultivars but combining two cultivars that compliment one another and benefit from each others strengths. The next generation should improve on both of the previous generations. To me, the RW cut had it all but I wanted to add another dimension to her flavor profile while preserving her in seed form. Sorry I couldn’t find any flowering pics of closer to the Sun. I lost most of my pics from pre-2016. If the seeds are still viable, I’ll be popping more soon to make F2s. So stay tuned.
I was on the fence between Bodhis SSDD and Moscas Old time Indiana Bubblegum, eventually choosing the SSDD as the mate. Big props to Bodhi! The SSDD male passed the blueberry butter terps on while maintaining the extreme bag appeal and potency the RW cut is known for. 7+ generations later and the blueberry-butter-candy still pops up frequently in my work. Needless to say, I was and still am very happy with the pairing of those two and the offspring they’ve produced together.
Last pics of this post are of Animal Cookies and skywalker OG, both legendary clone-onlys. These cuts need no introduction and served as the mothers of future generations aka Sunbaked (Animal cookies x Closer to the sun) and Sunwalker OG (Skywalker OG x Closer to the sun)
