I'm really eyeing some old treasures from hempdepot, in particular a few things offered by beanhoarder, like blockhead crosses. my concern is the ages of the packs. his inventory hasn't seemed to have grown in a few years, and things that have sold out haven't returned. this is giving me massive FOMO. assuming beanhoarder is a one and done breeder that isn't holding a warehouse of stable parents, that has me thinking there's some pretty old beans. scouring forums, hempdepot and branhoarder seems to have quite a few happy customers, but it's harder to find recent posts about beanhoarders packs, let alone the specific genetics I'm looking at

assuming they're properly stored, how does ten years affect vitality? should i look at these like 5 packs instead of ten packs? the price is right.

Are you in Canada ? I don't think they ship to US anymore. I used them 15 years ago, when they did ship to US, and liked their beans.

I thought beanho and the owner are the same person. I got far more fine beans over lummies, from there. I've never ran beanho's offerings.
Just read their disclaimer, as I found they hold to it. Fair enough.
I also ran Back To The Congo, from there, and found a couple plants that lived with us, for couple of years.
I found lots of very nice plants from there, years ago.
EDIT: I am/was very much into growing out odd and unusual items. With that, comes good things, and not so good things. I accept that...hell I usually plan for it, LOL.

Isn't that always the question how is the seedbank storing them. Whats the age of the packs before we get them and the viability ...

tbh I think this was one I'd used way back in the day? and heavens stairway was another :D. Still end up drooling over the breeder photo's most days.

Back To The Congo
also on my HD list! Richard Williams was kinda big when i was chewing through packs of beans. i wanted both deep congo and back to the congo. I'm glad somebody else remembers.

the place is packed with old forgotten gems. i was told the two joti strains he still has, are from the golden days, before joti sold out.

I've heard that Brad, proprietor of hempdepot, is beanhoarder also.

I'll see if I can find a few snaps of RW's BTTC. I was growing it out with NAW's G-39.

I think she was peeking into the Tilapia tank.
The deep congo, had very hard shells, and she was difficult to get tailed.
I was getting ready to buy my first well crafted LED back then. Dang man, you took a beating on the boards for running LED, back then. I mean, folks could get mean, anytime your spoke outside the HID cabal!!
They did not know, I thrive in making my own way, how ever I choose to do that, and the herd can go foricate itself.

I'm all fairness, LEDs were kinda blurple trash then, so it was deserving, at that time.

those buds are quite different than i pictured, more civilized i guess I'd say. they look awesome. it must have been a memorable strain to recall it after all these years. good job!

that's what aquaponics looks like? that's healthy!

I've bought from HD a bunch of times. I like Brad and he is always cool to deal with. (Never heard the BeanHo rumour, but it makes sense).
That said, I know he sells old stock. If you watch his page, you can see it.

He had a falling out with JOTI and stopped buying his stuff, I'm thinking over 2 years ago(maybe 3), and has been trying to clear out the stock since then.

Some of the stuff from little guys like Sask Seed Co is still on the "introductory" pricing from 5 or more years ago and I would hate to think how long he's had some of the Malberry gear.

I've only bought lower priced seeds from him, but if I ever wanted to drop serious money, I'd be reaching out and discussing particulars first.

That would be correct, until I bought this Advanced LED 740 and it was used.
A commercial grower, brought it back to the grow shop I use.
He said it sucked real bad. I think he bailed way to soon, with it.
AND he used like HID's, getting them as close to the plant as possible. I learned this when I was growing in boxes, hanging naked bulbs.
This Advanced 740, will kick you in the nethers, using it like that.
Once I pasted that big assed LED all 40+lb's of it, as high into my tents as I could get it, it beat my HID harvest numbers to shit. I was hooked, I kept running my hids until I gather up enough funds for more. This rascal, will boil the buds from the plant!!
However in that time, I found HLG, and they had good prices, so I bought some of them for veg mode.
Now I run GrowLightsAustralia, products. Love them!! I've known Prawn Connery for ages, not personal like, just on the boards. he designed and used them then GLA had them crafted for them.
If I need a bit wider coverage due to my poor plant wrangling, I grab the Advanced 740, hang it, as it's just an excellent LED, far ahead of it's time.
