How should IPM be approached during seed production.

Problem with spraying anything while going for seed production is that depending on the chemical compounds, it could hinder seed production, even completely stop it while the rest of the plant burns and whithers. Stick with bio-controls or homemade horticultural soaps, also frequently foliar sprays of straight up water is a better IPM than most ppl might think, minor pressure wash if you must, the physical force of the water can kill a lot of soft bodied insects.

How do Roundup Ready crops work?

Roundup Ready crop lines contain a gene derived from Agrobacterium sp. strain CP4, encoding a glyphosate-tolerant enzyme, the so-called CP4 EPSP synthase (1, 2). Expression of CP4 EPSP synthase results in glyphosate-tolerant crops, enabling more effective weed control by allowing postemergent herbicide application.

There's certain things i don't like to do at certain stages or times of my breeding and growing. You may have heard of some people keeping plants in veg by using a light for only one hour at midnight. Just wakes the plants up to keep them out of 12/12....i hate that and would not do that with any line I am trying to stabilize and work for commercial release or public offering...i don't know what that is doing to the plants epigenetic wise. I can't guarantee im not changing the plant in a way i dont want it to change.

Same goes for IPM and bioinsecticides....i cant guarantee no affect....so i only do a Plant Therapy style spray to hold powdery mildew down and that's it. I dont even like spraying Spinosad (capt. jacks) during flowering. I'm not really scared about an oil/water/alcohol spray...i can nearly guarantee no change will occur within the plant from this.
My own recipe of plant therapy on RIU

no, no it's not ok to use harsh chems on seed bearing mommy's.
