Question ELI5 - Most of my plants make 2-3 seeds each grow

I asked about this on a board I used to inhabit until I found a more comfortable place to hang my hat As I said, I have found during trimming that most of my plants make a small number of seeds, I'm likely not finding them all, but usually find 1-3 per plant. I've never found any herming in anything I've grown yet but clearly something less than full on herming is not being detected by me. There's only been 1 - 2 males that were tossed upon ID without the sacs ever opening.

So, I asked elsewhere and was answered that hormone levels tell the plant that it has not been pollinated, and it micro-herms just in 1 or 2 spots usually down low, as a basically last ditch effort to perpetuate itself. My question is, is there a term for this, like autoselfing, or ??? Is viable seed created this way essentially a clone in the form of a seed ?

LOL one of the strains I ended up giving all of it away this past season was an accidental pollination of Wedding Cake. Dude we know had a male plant show up in his garden, and he yanked it out and tossed the male in his driveway....Thing still stayed alive long enough to flower out and pollinate his Wedding Cake. It didn't taste or smell all that great, and when a friend who lives near by was in need I gave her the whole thing.

Sure my neighbor's LOVE me this season; I left a Male outside on purpose and now have a LOT of new Cheese to play with

Seems like there's a growing consensus for incidental pollenation, I sure can't say against any of what's been offered. There's been a male every year and reasonable that some pollen got loose before I got anything done about it. Insects or wind drift also reasonable, even though the population density around here is real low. I'm still curious about if it's "micro-selfing" because of not catching any or enough pollen outside of that. But if that were the case, indoor growers should have the same experience yeah ?

When I read this, my first thought was "it's like Graffiti The World, except instead of the land with skyscrapers or the sky with airplanes and satellites, it's Cheese, all Cheese." So now if I get the right kind of stoned later I'll be making up some new lyrics to that song while I'm trimming.

If the population is low, it's likely there's "Guerilla Grows" going on somewhere too, as my in law used to just grow plants deep in the woods before it was legal. Only takes one male to get a few plants for miles around if the wind is just right. If the Males you're seeing don't have any female parts on them, it's very unlikely to be a hermie trait.

LOL Cheese dust, Cheese dust floating everywhere ! I know the pollen took on a few of them; I've now got Susie Cream Cheese X Black Cheese, and Susie Cream Cheese X Cheetos added to my list I haven't check any of the other plants yet to see if Seeds formed, but that'll show up a bit more once they are cleaned up. On Black Cheese, I found some on the lowers only thus far, which makes some sense, as the male was right in front of her. They're all brand new seeds though, so, I may not run them this season, since I've got a back log of Cheese and others I already plan on running, but I'm excited to get into them and see what I find

That's funny, as I legit devoured the last piece of the Blue Cheese we picked up last night LOL
