Just after a loop to the Tray of Fundy, boys,,,

The tray is mini clones. I want them to produce seed, whilst occupying less space.

This is a Junior Romulan Grapefruit. I traded off all my Blue and GrapeRomulan seed. Every clone went to flower, so this is do , or bye. ( Because no one dies, ,,today)

I have always seen them call this “Heavens Fruit”
I have grown out other Tropimango crosses before. I find her to be a moped riding ,sweet and greasy milk maiden.
Cheeky monkey’s. I gotta hit that !
Share a good laugh with me, if I have spent a year barking up the wrong tree.

20200807_123258.jpg

Super pumped, because I seem to have solved my inability to build buds.
We have passed the 21 day sprint, and seem nearly abreast to my previous best showing. I like to see continuous, uninterrupted stacks around this time. Still flirting with near disastrous temps, I wonder if these hot darks promote height. At one time I thought drastic day and night temp difference led to stretching. Now I reason : heat equals growth. That LVTK appears to be making a run for it, while the Pounders are staying squat. So,,, apparently I have nothing intelligent to say about that.
For my own interests, I plan on recording some. branch measurements. I am interested to compare three week height to final height.

My flash went dead before I snagged a shot of the poster child. My closest blow by blow photolog is Grapefruit Diesel. After observing my 45-90 GFD, I have remonicker'd it Single weight 90. Nothing else ( save perhaps, maybe - LarryZilla ) chunks out in my garden like her. Still, I could be wrong. The buds will tell me in a couple weeks.

Just a teaser-winter flash back.
This is what I am hoping to see again.

Sour Tangie F2 pollen should be soon, good to go. I will make the same rounds again, in a couple days.
Sour Tangie F3 seed is my main goal. Tired of cloning. Plus I suck at it.
Sour Taffie seed is high on the list as well.
A large part of me realizes, anything more than one viable bean would be considered a success.
That STP has some alligator mixed in, I would sure love to see some RomGrapefruit X STP. Would be a marriage of Titans.

Thanks @Capt. C , after that last run, I got both hands on the wheel. 8 white knuckles worth.
Sticking to the middle of the road. I have never flowered during dog days in this room, it has certainly required less foot feed. I am pushing less light and plan to just baby them through. Really tough to toss a mop of 'Capt.s fuzzy bud' rubbing up against 25% Rh and ever escalating temps. I was stressing tips at 900ppm.

My biggest trial is resisting watering. I made an absolute crap batch of soil. Trying to behave, I watched that Rom Bluberry ( in the icecream bucket above) very closely for watering cues. The moment I saw droop - I knew it was time. However, observing the state of the soil, I knew it would not accept water. Grabbing my handy srcew driver, I plunged handle deep and literally cleaved the soil, shattering the solid mass, destroying Pangaea by splitting the media into three distinct continents.

I am watering every three days which is unheard of for me. Mix is table greens, composted cum vermi, clay/loam/silt. I culture the compost and then mix in the bunny sweepings, afterwards the nightcrawers bust it all down.
By the time the foliage asks for water, the roots are encased in concrete.
I have some ideas to address the issue, however,
I am really trying to emulate conventionalism,,, but I gots all these ideas ,,,

Dang @Jewels i am not a soil guy but isn't there something you could mix in with the soil to keep it from caking up so hard? I have been fighting the opposite on conditions with high humidity. Always seems to come at the worst time as well toward the end of flowering when you have some thick ass colas you are sweating over. It is also creating havoc on my utility bill along with that new beast of a light i built. I am being reminded of why i usually do not grow in the summer.

Yes, indeed. Is one of those problems a guy could buy his way out of.
Spahgnum, peat, perlite, vermiculite, coco, hydroton, styrofoam, pinecones, legos,,,anything coulda lightened it up.
I did kinda see it coming. In preparation, the buckect bottoms are 1 gallon crushed brick, feathered in, up to the halfway point.
Looking for some hempy action; but transplanted waaaay to late. I need to peek underneath to see if I can start wick feeding them.
I have seen the bounty that hydro and coco can offer. Dirt is said to bring the flav.
Seems like an acceptable compromise.
I want msg, I want deepfried chicken wing, I want Doritos, I wants ( the worlds finest) Hy's seasoning salt, KFC, air cooled engine, roasted savory, pizza cardboard.
I am looking for a crusty french fry, from a chinese restaurant, over-browned and under-cooked from dirty oil. And why does do these fries taste like they were soldered together with dynamite shrimp paste?
And am I okay with that ?

Silly me, Orange is the last thing I am looking for.
I want me 'erbs and spices, man.

I have been fighting the opposite on conditions with high humidity
There come these moments, when I become zenfully aware of how lucky I am, in this climate. Most of the time I am blissfully ignorant of it, as solutions to me issues are usually available and waiting on the other side of the tent wall.
If I need heat, I can hoard it.
If I need cool air, it is usually available.
If I need dry air, it is only a fan away.

I agree it is impossibly difficult to frugally go against the gradient. If there was nowhere for the humidity to go - I'd be F'd. If I didn't have a supply of cool night air, I'd be hooped. Always seems less expensive to move stuff around, rather than actually modify what is there. That is why I could never run a truely sealed room. We just huddle around the propane heater all winter. The C02 is just a by product !

@Jewels , how the heck are you brother! Just catching up on all the goodness going on and feeling a bit sad I haven’t been around. Appreciate the props on the old six shooter. It was a good time and I honestly learned a bit doing it so, I have 9 plants total in those little half gallon/ 2 litre pots and it’s working out pretty good for my tiny ass space plus half the tent is a f&d tote. Anyway, you got things dialed in real nice as far as I can tell. Got some good genetics as well! See ya around ??✌???

Perhaps but some compost tea will help your situation. Humic and fulvic acids are surfactants and should be in the compost already but making a tea might help. This is one of my frustrations with fabric pots as the top cakes and water runs out the fabric. Time is a wonderful alli as is patience. Hmf....

Always good to have a @Texagonian in the garden. All us bunnies is A okay. Preciate ya ask’n.

Did you know that settlers along the Canadian prairie still carry southern drawls from last century ?
How do your locals say -“ fired ” ?
Honestly, I give it two syllables.

Anywho, when I was growing in a fabric shopping bag dans the milkcrate, my water would run right off. I used 2 inch PVC pipe to inject waterings.
I don’t have any photos.

Now for some science,,,
Zoom around there for a bit.
Why are these three buds circled ?

20200808_111531_HDR~2.jpg
Got 12 plants in 4 gallon buckets.
Got 2200 wall watts trickling away.
Got about 8 x 4.5' of canopy.
Makes about 60 watts for every foot.

Took a quantum measurements on two dozen buds.
Why are they circled ?
They are the only ones in the room NOT underlit by 30%.

Wish I could convey how much light these mf'rs will soak up. At 1000 ppfd, plants without any other obstructions to growth, are just humming. Even with all those fixtures, the mean, median and mode ppfd across all measurements was 4-600. Only the circled buds were receiving +800.
We always hear about the benefits of a flat canopy. It is the inverse square that kicks me in the ass. I have space for more plants, but I would be lacking fixtures.
Humidity is not an issue, I will just pack them in tighter.

Man your wild light setup of various kinds in that basement jungle just warms my ol heart. Lookin good a province over. Too bad it’s around a 10-12 plus Hour drive to visit.. ffs Canada is big.

It’s funny you were talking about Prairie folk and their Texas-like accent. (Shouts out @Texagonian .. Call it Texas-light lol. A similar but bastardized version. I have family some hours south that talk very southern. Never looked into the history tho.

This rubbed off on my accent from one side of the fam. The other side is very northern/bush culture.
Up here everyone has a mild to heavy FN accent generally regardless of race.

So personally my accent is quite absurd. Even I know it ?.
Side note, I spoke a lot of French growing up, and of course movies and tv “Americanized” my accent some also.

So I sound like a “Cowboi-Indian” hybrid. with a hit of “oot and aboot” east coast traditional style and some moustachioed frenchyness, pronouncing some “English” words (bloody red-coats stealing words) properly, en Français-stylez, not on purpose to be pretentious, but cause I never got round to ever sayin it the English way. Weird, non? Meh c’est formidable cause nobody can ever pin down where I’m from.

haha then there is good ol Quebec folks.
