Hate my comment or not but I’m not gonnea make bs claims I found or smoked strains it reeeked for miles , it’s easy to say and make claims of the history when u got no proof and also when ur scared of cops maybe just maybe u thought it was more smelly cause of fear .

it’s funny cause if we had phones and labs to test this, I guratee our weed now is better and more tasty. Been buying and growing for along time and there’s no way there was phenos even given across the states that was that known, shoot most growers/smuggles had general names and there wasn’t even strain names.

also if it was soooo amazing, why didn’t anyone preserve even one plant if it was so desirable and than breed with it… ph wait they did many versions but people think way to much based on words and experiences that it will stink for miles and all this lies..



i get ur great memories of getting cannabis was awesome cause it was a gem to get it in a lot of area’s but come on Inless it was laced with opium majority of smuggled weed even from Mexico or Canada was brown frown.

It absolutely existed..........I have plenty of history with it. 2 counties north of me, there were several entire houses devoted to grow it.
It was the first weed I ever saw where the approx 1-2 lb bags were heat sealed together like sausage links. They were heat sealed to stop the smell, but there could be 20 or so in a chain. They paid $50 for any seeds you would find.........a rare bird indeed.
The skunk ended here when those house got busted. They had tapped into the electric lines and somehow the electric company figured that out on one house......then they started searching titles/deeds and got the other......in the end, just the old stoner growers got busted.
And it smelled like skunk...and it was bright green.......and some of the best sense I ever smoked......but...there's always a but.... always expensive.

1st strain i bought was feminized skunk #1 from dutch passion in 2002.

It wasn't road kill but it 100% was skunk. You could smell veg plants a house or two away, flowering plants... forget about it. We weren't even using carbon filters then, smh.

I stopped growing it when I popped the blueberry later that same year but friends kept growing skunk cuz it was a money maker.

Well that shit ended when some gang banger got popped with it due to neighbors smelling and narc'ing them out.

Im guessing this is what happened to many skunk growers early 2000s.

The kilos of red hair we got were from south of the border that were'nt compressed, just kinda flattened from being piled up at harvest.

Back in 2006 I remember going to visit my buddy for the weekend over in River Falls, WI. He was going to school out there, and we were gonna go hit some halloween parties and see what was up. I remember he had somewhere around an oz of this light purple and light green buds, and it absolutely REEKED of sweet candied blueberries, or fresh blueberry pie filling, no pastry all sweet berry. Flavor was the same. I was only getting stuff like green crack and white rhino (according to the street dealer lol) at the time so this was something that blew me away. I can still remember the smell and taste. It was just called Blueberry according to my buddy.

So I finally got the blueberry cut I have healthy enough to clone, those clones rooted, FINALLY get to flower it out. So, i'm in the place where I get to see if (if it really was blueberry but idk what else it would of been) it is as flavorful as I remember it being, or if it was just some "average" good weed and I was just more inexperienced at the time and hadnt come across anything like that yet.

The skunk was abundant for 6 ish years and as far as i know no one ever got a live plant. I got 2 bag seeds, grew both monsters out. Got to harvest one and second one got ripped.

late 70's[77 or 78]: My uncles made a pretty big deal about getting some lambsbreath when they went to Florida on vacation one of those years. That was the first time I recall hearing marijuana called anything but marijuana.

1980-81: Girl across the street was always getting "da kine' from her boyfriend's friend. Everyone else just called it "weed".

1981-83: Guy in my woodshop class would dart out the back door and return 20 minutes later with some Chocolate Thai[25/quarter] or Mexican[20/quarter].

1983: Guy down the street just moved in. He's got a slammed Cal-style bug and a smokin hot girlfriend. Hes got long hair and looks like Otto from the Simpson's.
He's got the first "real" skunk weed I've seen and smelled. Larger buds than what we were used to and not as leafy as the previous marijuana we got. All the dads in the neighborhood hated him. Also the first time I see an actual "Haze"

1984: Skunk everywhere, called different stuff depending on the neighborhood. Sometimes "skunk bud" sometimes "bomb" or "killer".

1985: Iowa- Mexican prevalent. Occasionally a bright, lime-green "Mean Green" would show up. Very sativa, very giggley. Good shit. A friend's dad had a huge jar in this crevice at the top of their stairs, out in the open pretty much, had a label with "Durbin Poison" written on it. We started stealing nugs out and fluffing it up so it looked like nothing was amiss. Stole about a quarter oz then his dad discovered and sat us all down for a serious talk.
Cali[Norcal] Red Hair Sensi, Orange bud[because orange hairs], skunk. [Socal]Mex, skunk,

1986: Humboldt weed... that's what everyone was calling it. Lime green buds with orange hairs. "Got some Humboldt, yo!"

1987-89 [Iowa again] Lot of commercial Mex, non-compressed Small thin buds with a lot of leaf. Anything better was just called "bomb". Stuff would turn up occasionally from a nearby Dead show but I don't recall any specific names being used.

1989-1993: [Socal]Orange bud. I was trading press work[menus & fliers] to a couple guys whose parents owned the Numero Uno Pizzeria next to us for a grip of buds. They were part of some bigger thing that involved a bunch of houses around San Fernando and out in Palmdale. I could get as much as I wanted whenever so no other weed existed for me during this time. If you worked at Sunset-Gower studios around this time, chances are you were smoking bud I got from the brothers.

1093-96: [Norcal]Orange hair, Red hair, skunk, gas, which I'm pretty sure was a chem.

1996: @RookieBuds dad went to Amsterdam and came back with "White Widow" seeds from the year before. Best weed in the area for a minute. Also a lot of Catpiss and sweet skunk going around. Bammer, brick. Local grower had "B.O. Bud" "Kush" and "Armpit"

My mom was getting the exact stuff you are describing and actually about that same time. It disappeared also ... It's not the same as blueberry coming out the dispos now...maybe a pheno thing...good luck

That strain started it all for me..I still catch myself checking out California orange and similar strains still today ?..I reckon tho the first time I seen proper ass weed was about 86...my uncle used to get it from migrant Mexican workers and it was called afghani black..I was still in high school and scraped money together to get that when I could for $8 a gram which was probably insane for that time but I definitely had the best weed any of my buddies ever had at the time

Not sure this will lead anywhere however maybe someone knows something I don't even after years of ridiculous searching..Road kill Skunk! I believe it's a myth...like a unicorn..I understand people's description AND/OR MEMORIES of said RKS ...but I was actively smoking in the mid 80s thru present and I don't recall any skunk SPRAY smell. There is no other smell in this world that smells exactly like a dead skunk on the road..Don't get me wrong. I've had and still have some very "said" very skunky strains but actual skunk spray smelling weed..Has this all really been a mix up in smell translation? I've been in and out of every rabbit hole ..It comes from a rare skunk 1. I doubt it..foot odor cheesey acrid body odor maybe but not dead skunk spray..it comes from old afghan lines..doubt it..maybe burnt rubber.. gassy but not spray of a actual skunk..It comes from older lines only Mr nice seeds have and you would have to cross this and that and dig dig dig to find it...Pretty sure if that was possible Shanti would have been plastered over every forum on earth with the "real deal"..claim after claim of having the real deal RKS always seems disclaimed by it's just the old played out sweet skunk that was made that way on purpose because carbon scrubbers and this and that was not available! True TRUE ?..? look more like this ?

I got to talking with the guy and it turned out he used silver nitrate to resurface antique mirrors. I started adding a few extra vials of the nitrate to each order and I would trade that for bud. Thanks Iowa Public School system.

The orange bud I got in Norcal was just skunky bud with orange hairs, no orange smell or taste. The Orange bud I got it Socal was Skunky orange smelling and tasting. The Socal stuff was miles ahead IMO.

I should also point out that the only time I EVER had this strain I LOVED it ! It was really well done, and at the time I had 3 Cats, and I can say it DID smell proper :

Says it's Myrcene dominant, which, appears to be a common thing for Skunk too. And I think Blue Cheese as well. Apparently a strain having that pungency, could be the amount of Myrcene and Caryophyllene in it.

The only time and I'll NEVER forget it was a single plant my mother had tied down low growing between tomatoes..I didn't pay it much mind as my mom always had stray plants posting up around her property and usually chopped em early screwing them up..Never paid her smoke much mind except this one plant ...the buds smelled like extreme cat piss and was SUPER good...very Sativa..man I wish I would've took a cut off that..she knows all kind of old heads and always coming up with random strains...That one she just said it was Haze...last year she had a monster ass plant and when I ask what it was she replies dieing laughing (probably high as giraffe pussy) it's Alaskan thunderfuck...She said some dumbass told her that's what it was...I had to explain to her that's a real thing..But I'm interested if anyone can guide me toward real cat piss strain in seed form. I'm sure SSH is a pheno hunt...My son has grown that a few times and it wasn't pissy

That old school blueberry line from DJ had some straight bangers in it.

I know the pheno we had was strong because it gave me anxiety attacks twice from smoking too much. I ain't had that happen in a long time.

The taste was legen... wait for it... dary! But I've had strains and flavors equally as nice but nothing compares to that 1st home grown fantastic weed. Shit just stays with you.

Like you said though, not sure if it would still hold up today but I'd like to think it would for sure.

Ok so for Blueberry (the strain) from what I've heard the original is gone, and what is around now doesn't have that straight Blueberry smell and taste, because now it apparently tastes like a Blueberry Muffin... muffin part being the difference. However I've got a bit of Skywalker left that smells like Blueberry jam. No earthy smell like you'd expect and as per usual all I have is bagseed of it. I also don't care because that shit is delicious lol.

The Cat Piss I've heard was a Phenotype of a haze... then again I've also heard promises made that were bullshit so I can't really say lol. I didn't even get a seed from the bud but what I remember is that the effects were happy, and the smell..... I'm not kidding... I had 3 cats at the time and it smelled like a fucking litter box after the FEMALE cats peed in it.... man whatever is wrong with me must be really hard to pronounce cause who the fuck goes out of their way to inhale something that smells like it got pissed on???? No matter if it's Skunk or Cat... lol.

I'l tell you though, that shit was good! Also goes to show that a Terpene Profile can make even "average" THC numbers appear higher because they affect the body.

I never saw that Cat Piss again, and it's on my all time favorite strains ever list from a couple joints worth.... it was THAT good. Bring Sativa dominant wouldn't surprise me either. I think I read something about Alaskan Thunder Fuck being a part of it's history but again, no real way for me to know without testing a bunch of it.

Anyway I did a bunch of physical labor today and cracked open some of the other Blue Cheese seedling from last season; pretty amazing how the other one is Skunky Cat Piss and sour and barely sweet, and yet this one is floral and fragrant but the taste.... lol literally makes my tongue tingle a bit as though I've got black pepper and or some hot peppers in my mouth. Even the head warm thing when you start eating some well done Thai food is there lol.

Strain names went from being locations to "it kinda smells like that" from what I can tell. Now that I'm not half asleep and read back through some of this, I wanted to add something to my post last night but then beer happened and I went to bed:

The thing about Strain Names, is exactly why I made a joke about "Oh there's Americans stuck in Afghanistan ???? I'll fuckin' go get them! I need some empty bags and a GPS....." cause the GPS would be so I could put actual GPS location data right on the bags and know exactly which area of Afghanistan each seed was located.

Leafly has a part about "Afghani AKA Afghanistan AKA Afghan" but that entails literally an entire country..... And the Kush Mountain runs through Afghanistan too! Mazar-I-Shariff too.... How many strains would that make it that are literally all lumped into "Afghani" ? And Kush ? Well is it from India or Afghanistan ? Mountain Range goes right into India too so technically it's the same name even if it's 30 distinct plants.

Again, that's why I'd be sitting there with my GPS data writing it all down so I know where each seed came from. And so I can call in for a helicopter when I'm too damned high to come off the Kush Mountains.... You know my chunky ass is gonna be out in some weed field helping a farmer with his Charras and working in exchange for bread and seeds. I saw a white American dude in a video that went to Afghanistan and sit in a "Hash Hut" where the locals came to smoke Hash. approximately 75 cents a gram......

At 75 Cents a gram I'm gonna need to take a step ladder with me so I can still scratch my ass when I'm 30 dollars deep.

I guess my point is that just because your dealer didn't know it was "Punta Roja" and called it "Colombian" didn't change the fact that it was still something distinct. I bet if I had a lab with some tents, and some Punta Roja and those Afghani seeds I'd find some skunky shit LOL!
