Mite Prevention

Plant Destroyer

I'm getting ready to harvest a crop and noticed that there are mites in the grow room!

These aren't spider webs, and this area was completely free of webbing when I started.
There were plants from last summer that I brought in from outdoors (mistake) and they had mites.
Thought I had cleaned thoroughly and killed them all... but obviously a few survived.

So here's the big question... why don't my plants have mites? I pulled a few out and checked every nook & cranny with a light & magnification.

I'm thinking there might be two reasons:
1) My plants are healthy. They are "semi-organic" and have always been vigorous.
2) I sprayed with a sulfur & pyrethrin product a week before starting 12/12, and it left a residue on the leaves.

I'm not complaining, but it seems odd.

What do you think?

Not sure but if it came to wagering, I'd vote for sulfur residue.
Are you seeing any of those bastiges in that webbing?

I bet the little fuckers are in the webbing somewhere.
Hmm… maybe I can catch some on a yellow sticky card for a closer look.

This summer I had 2-spotted mites, so they probably made a comeback.

There may be other factors…
My grow room has been relatively cool and humidity has always been in the sweet spot thanks to dual dehumidifiers.
Air flow is also good.
Mites thrive in hot, dry conditions with minimal air flow — and my environment is exactly the opposite.

I gathered up the webbing with a sticky card but didn’t see anything alive with the loupe.

weird

You can foliar/soil drench pure crop 1. I'm a huge fan of pc1 since I used it last yr for my od grow. 0 issues.

Since you think you may have mites on the flowers, you can also do a "bud wash" upon chopping. I found d quite a bit of floaties (dust/dirt/envirmental fallout). Did not change the look or flavor of the flowers either.

Ive never seen sm webbing on equipment and not on plants. Sm need food (plants), not equipment to feed on.

Because those are spider webs.
Mite webbing is continuous- like fabric.
Not tryna be a dick, just logical.
Cant see mites setting up shop on a light fixture.
I hope you are right. This webbing was very thin & light. Most spider webs are thicker and have more stretch.
Maybe they were really tiny spiders???
There was some insect activity on the soil sticky cards. I’ll get a pic…

Mostly dirt, but there a couple of small bugs with wings.

Only two of them lived long enough to make it up to the big card. (One on each side.)

I got to agree with @Mr Jay Those webs don't look like they were spun by spider mites. I had a few infestation's of the Lil bastards and haven't seen them on any equipment. Only ever on plant surfaces and any kinda mite infestation should show damage to the leaves. Also sulphur does deter spider mites to a certain extent and has residual effects for a few weeks.

Usually when you have an infestation, you can clearly see the little bastards. Their webbing can start stringlike but by the time you can see them it's turned into more like a net. And there will be plenty at that point to see. Miserable little fuckers. And..... if you see them heavy you are way fucked anyway.
I do clean out, then Permethrin the tent heavily every 3 days for 2 weeks. Then I'll put plants back in the tent and hope I got the sob's.

You might just have a spider. Like those spiders outside that make a web overnight between your tomatoes........jeez, I've walked into several of those (or more) :) It comes out of your hair easy but you definitely are not wasting any time washing it out, lofl.
