Next you'll tell me OP didn't stay gold.
Shared this on Instagram earlier and thought it would be good info for anyone that does any outdoor gardening..
You can get 6 foot dog-eared cedar boards for $4/ea. at Lowe's. An 8 foot board - a little thicker, mind you - is $32 at Lowe's. Bought the fence boards, cut the dog ears off, and boom, new raised bed. 6 boards for a 6 foot bed, plus a couple little 2x4 pieces for support. Really stoked to get some soil in it and some friends going out there.
Sounds like me. I grab any wood scrap I can find and will build garden stuff out of it. Lol. Thanks! So I run a fence installation company and this is something that's always baffled me.... I can get cedar for WAY cheaper from my fence suppliers than a lumber yard, even at similar grades.
All of my raised beds are made from cedar fence scraps and leftovers. In fact, I'm building a greenhouse out of old fence parts I've pulled off of jobs (as well as a bunch of scavenged windows)
This is a great tip for people looking for an inexpensive material for raised beds.
It's definitely nuts, man. And thank you!Man lumber is insanely expensive right now. And they are blaming it on a beetle infestation in British Columbia 10 years ago! All I see is demand, because of crazy low interest rates, why wouldn’t they inflate lumber prices? I have a feeling we are about to see more inflation in the next few years then we have seen in a while! On a side note, Your greenhouse and beds are awesome man!
