As I age...well i recently made my cold room have shelving so i can get all that crap out of the basement...and making a workout space...to do yoga and p90X at my pace.
Because..the only REAL cure I know is making the muscles so strong the shit dont get hurt.

If meds become a necessary avenue, I was on a med called Baclofen that did offer some relief but it was small in comparison to the other avenues I mentioned.
Not sure about all ins carriers, but most (even low tier) offer so many "maintenance" visits (with co-pay only) per calender year. She will likely have to come out of pocket for the initial xrays they need to do before they will even touch her if she hasnt had any in the last 6 months.

I was going to mention Chiropractor as a well trained one can do really well in my experience. Baclofen is OTC in Canada but I think it's still RX only here in the states. Not sure how well it does for nerves though. Lidocaine patch maybe?

I have been suffering from sciatica for the past 2 years. At first I thought, it will fade away. Nerve pain is the worst! I realized most foods are inflammatory. So I thought, why eat a inflammatory then chase it with anti-inflammatory? I cut out %90 all packaged food.pain almost %100 gone. fish, vegetables, fruit, occasional homemade sausage, pork chop, water....and my herb ?( And whatever elk deer etc my friends kill) Oh and stretching - the most important thing as the body ages and muscles/tendons tighten.

This is also good info. Black Pepper has beta Caryophyllene in it which is anti-inflammatory and is also found in some strains (I kinda base that on how much nose tingle I get from one) but also Linalool from what I've read is a solid option for testing too. Apparently as much as a 50% reduction in Morphine can be had using it.

I’ve dealt with sciatica issues since I was 14. Then at 35 I fell and did a ton more damage resulting in a surgery. It helped but I still had tons of pain. I recently tried the carnivore diet after lots of research and after a couple months my pain levels are as low as I can remember. I’ve lost weight even though I eat plenty I look amazing (according to everybody I run into) I feel amazing with better energy levels then ever. My whole family is doing it and we all feel great. The Norma American diet, even what we think is eating clean isn’t. It causes pretty much all of our health issues including inflammation which makes all that nerve pain so much worse.

I'm always so sorry to hear it when someone has this or other lumbar problems, I def relate. If you can do one of these stretches of the piriformis muscle it may help relieve some of your pain. It takes some time to have any effect like 2-4 weeks. If you could use an inversion table, that might help.

I got nerve damage during lumbar fusion surgery, it's done things to me that I would not have thought possible but the central nervous system is a real miracle and apparently shit can get kinda crazy. I hope you find some relief my friend.

I can’t say enough for yoga practice. It can reverse early stage sciatica if the damage isn’t too severe yet. For me I entered the weird world of yoga for herniated and ruptured l4 & l5. 10 years later and I feel like a superhero. (Some days). But honestly there is power there and so much that I went to get certified as an instructor just to get other men into some of the benefits.

It was A men’s practice traditionally and it became all foo foo bs with the westernization of the practice and marketing to middle- upper class women really.

Only thing that helped me get some relief was acupuncture.
The pharmaceuticals i got from the doc didnt do anything at all (anti inflammatory, muscle relax and tramadol).
Cannabis didnt lower the pain but seemed to change my interpretation of the pain, made it a little bit more bearable.
Now i do soft and gentle yoga kind of exercises every day.

In my particular case, my severe sciatica was connected to my herniated lumbar discs for which I ultimately needed surgery. I haven't had any sciatic pain since then, thank goodness

Prior to surgery & building up to the final "blowout" of my spinal discs, I found the most relief from sciatic pain came from myofascial release. The most impactful thing was foam rolling the backs of my legs, and rolling a small puppy tennis ball right at the sciatic nerve area.
