Who was that GDP from ? That as well as that bud trimmer gizmo look like things I would like lol it's getting hard for me to trim these days glasses & strong light a must I prefer to trim dry but would do wet if I had to that trimmer or even a smaller one would work for me so would that gdp
The GDP was from ILGM.
And the trimmer is a 19" Ipower bowl trimmer I got from Amazon.
Amazon product

It runs about $170 and can trim up to 4 ounces wet or dry.

They also have a 16" for $130 here...
Amazon product

I would guess you could trim 2+ at a time with it.

They're built like tanks, work really well and if you ever need to replace the blades, a 4 pack is $27.

It has saved me days of my life, literally. 20-30 turns and you have 4 ounces trimmed in under 1 minute.

Thanks smoke I see they make a 16 version too probably a good idea to order extra blades right off that GDP looks like both quality and yield fit right into my category I'm grooming up arcata trainwreck right now another time tested strain

A couple more days and the Glueberry cutting will be ready for a bucket.

Surprised the little gal is still kickin with the hell I put her through during all these changes.

I'm going to call it and say the new Hydroton system is a success.
The plants have fully adapted their roots to 100% hydro and are starting to thrive.
20201118_213118.jpg
I've been feeding them roughly 3/4 of a gallon twice a day to keep the water fresh and temps low. Now its just a matter of learning how much they will drink as they start to grow.

Lastly, those changes I've been making are coming together a bit more.
20201118_214338.jpg

I now have my 2- 30 gallon reservoirs setup.
20201118_214117.jpg
1 veg, 1 flower, each with their own 8 port multi flow flora flex bubbler heads being run by 800gph vivosun pumps.
I go through quite a bit of RO water, so I also incorporated 2- 27gal totes with shutoff floats on the feed lines from the RO system.
20201118_214028.jpg
Each tote has it's own 400gph pump and outlet, allowing me to refill either reservoir and mix nutes while allowing the storage totes to refill @ their leisure.
So hopefully, no more "oh crap" moments 10 minutes before feed time and I realize I forgot to mix nutes the night before...

Dude.... Yes! Love this set-up

It's move day for the Glueberry cutting.

She's nestled right in with her first full strength feeding.

The cloner is doing an amazing job. The Green Crack will need moved soon and one of the GDP already has some nubs showing. I just topped off the water for the first time in a week. PH is holding steady @ 6.0, air temp set @ 80F and RH is 80% inside the box.

Edit....forgot to mention, I found out really quickly that I still need 1 pallet in the tent to get enough speed to get drainage to my pump so the pallets will be staying.

The Blue Dream is on day 59. Trichomes are looking like she'll go to week 10 or 11.

Love the pot labels and so forth on your stuff. Thought it def is a good thing vs just a plant tag (i have lost a few had to “idk#” lol)

very impressive room and setup you got there + genetics choices you picked

i remember when I did multiple rounds of my ultra 5+ years ago and I never did clone it, 2/3 packs were given to me and man all the pheno’s so similar and stable of eachother they looked like a clone of each other. Good smoke and I’m sure you’ll have the dank to try it ;)

keep it up!

Transplanting clones into a full bucket of hydroton without f'ing up the roots is next to impossible. (For me). So, I found my fix for the new dwh buckets.
I've added some 2" net pots to the mix so I will only need to refill them with hydroton when placing a new clone instead of trying to fill the whole bucket.

Hopefully this should make the transition from cloner to the buckets much easier.

Lids didn't turn out as simple as planned, but they did turn out better than planned.

The lid now contains a "grow tube", designed to allow filling of the buckets with media while the lids are in place.
I found a funnel and a but of shaking works well to completely fill the bucket with hydroton, while allowing the "grow tube" to remain an empty cavity down to the water shelf level, allowing for transfer of clones with larger root growth.

20201124_151723.jpg
20201124_152445.jpg
Once the buckets are full you fill the tube to your desired height that you want your clone to sit, (here it's filled approx. 40%) place the clone in, and add a final handful of hydroton to top it off. (Which I will do when I have a clone ready...)

I'm thinking all I have left to do is keep these plants alive, prove the system can work, and schedule an appointment for the next filming of Shark Tank :) lol.
Nah, but I really am hoping this all works out though.

Battling 76F water temps in my bubble cloner inspired my next mad creation...an air/geothermal water cooled chilling system for the unit.

I used one of my 10gal totes for the reservoir. It sits on the cool concrete floor @ a constant 65F in my basement with a 400gph pump for the feed line and a 3/8" od line @ the base that gravity feeds the return.
20201126_212105.jpg
20201126_212143.jpg
The 1/4" feed line is controlled manually with a 1/4 turn valve, filling another 10gal tote 3/4 high on the cloner.
20201126_212042.jpg
Keeping the cloner reservoir @ a perfect 67.5F...
20201126_212356.jpg
Then exiting the 3/8" drain to be chilled and recirculated once again. The only trick was getting the feed rate to match the gravity drainage.
I'm running tap water with peroxide to keep things sterile, and plan to leave to tote uncovered so I can closely monitor levels and use the added RH in the tent now that winter is coming.

Hey .Smoke,
Just thought I'd offer up a tip on the topic of transplanting clones into hydroton.
My system is different than yours but I think this should still apply, I use this when moving seedlings into an E&F tote filled with hydroton.
What I found is that the clay balls have almost a neutral buoyancy, meaning they really don't want to float or sink.
If you fill your container with water, the hydroton will longer be 'heavy' and is much easier to 'plant' the seedling into.
Seems that if you block off your drain port and flood your container you could give this method a try.
When the container is then drained the seedling and hydroton settle into place.
Just a thought Sir.
Cheers,
WillieP

I've been leary about getting root rot with the new buckets since there's no constant water moving or air stones so I pulled the original Glue to take a look @ the roots.
20201129_121146.jpg
After 25 days, I hoping that if I was going to get rot, it would have already happened...
Fingers crossed, this may actually work...

May I ask are you bare foot and touching your plants bare handed ?

not dissing you, I’m just a germaphobe like for example I always wear chemical suit and have “ grower clothes” and shower before going into grow room, and I have separate foot wear ( like grow Sandler for easy access and long term access = rubber boots ) + 5ml gloves (reuse em till ripped)

and every plant I touch or right before, I must sanitize my hands with 70% iso ( key is 70% vs 90% is because 90% evaporates too quickly ), just like my scissors or any tool being touched . Treat em like any doctor would even if a doctor is shacking your hand, they will then sanitizing their hands before that. Virus and so many things are passed on by farmers or pests transferring it by just by ethier touch, so if you can eliminate the pest . next step is you ;)

they showed soo much of the Cali and much of the clone trading states of “clone only” had unfixable viruses once cannabis could be tested better like hops and much of ag can . like what we were calling “dudding”.

like I stated above, just trying to help everyone on information and if you already know these things or think other wise. np

just trying to spread information so anypne can make their own judgment cause it def is a issue to think about, any virus or spreadable thing that we can’t see should be done this way so it’s not new. Prevention is the only key and good genetics ;)
