The .Smoke Shack

Well, I'm glad I got a break last night...
I got a reminder today that it's a good idea to brush up on a strains characteristics if you haven't grown it before.
Apparently the Glueberry freebie I've got going can reach upwards of 48"-70"...
That + my drainage pallet + bucket height = really $%#! tall, even with the one low profile hood...
So the Glueberry is going into flower tonight :) She got topped 2 days ago.

I decided to make space for her by moving the auto back into the veg tent which means I had to redo basically everything.
Veg is now running a 650w hps.

While I was moving things I took a quick look and was surprised to find that White Widow #2 decided to finish. She went from 10% amber to almost 50% overnight.

I think someone is trying to tell me that break time is over...
I'll have an update later after I've got her hanging in the dry room.

I needed to move things around to be able to get the veg plants @ the right intensity with the og kush pushing the light to the top of the tent.
A few cinder blocks and a paver solves my issues.

I'm kinda digging it.
Besides my cloner, this should be about what I have in veg, so I'm considering keeping an auto in here permanently.
Maybe try out some Mephisto gear...

The donkey dicks from the GDP are going to need a few more days on the rack, but some of the stuff I chunked up was ready to be trimmed and jarred.
After a having a go in the bowl trimmer, she turned out to be pretty darn good looking.

Smells of grape and berries. Taste just like it smells with hints of pine and citrus in the after taste. The smoke is 100% smooth and light. It gives a "cooling" effect in the throat and lungs much like taking in a deep breath of winter air, or enjoying a cool, clean, refreshing piece of 5 Chewing Gum...
I'd put the stickiness up there with some of the best of them. All of this packaged in 100% rock solid buds.

I always compare heavy hitters to Gorilla Glue.
Although this doesn't have the heavy body medicated/pain relief that the Glue does, the Granddaddy Purple hits you just as hard in the head.
Very soothing, yet energetic. And the kind of floating feeling where you find yourself staring into the bathroom mirror trying to remember wtf you went in there in the first place...

This strain has won itself a permanent spot in my tent going forward.

I know trimming machines get hated on quite a bit, but damn those nuggets look REAL nice. Bowl trimmer aye...?
Yeah, I read all the bad reviews when I first started growing.
I said screw it and ordered this one the day I had my first 1lb. plant sitting in front of me needing to be trimmed...

Haven't looked back since.

It took more time to get those 2oz of buds off the drying rack and into the bowl than it did to trim it.
Another bonus is if you dry trim, I use a sifting screen on the trimmings and collect the kief from the bowl.
Not too bad for 66g.

Everyone's talking about dabs/concentrates, I just toss a scoop of this on top a packed pipe and I'm good to go :)

With my tolerance i'd have that little bit of keif gone in a day :D

Well, not only am I building new buckets, but I'm over the perlite.
The stuff I'm using is 1.5yrs old and will look more like sand than perlite in the near future.
So I'm taking the plunge and am going to try running hydroton hempy buckets.
Order just placed..
It looks like 2021 is going to have a lot of new experiences to it...

I have zero experience with clay pebbles btw...

I'm finally done with brainstorming my new grow style and getting the buckets built.
I've tried searching around to get a name for this grow method and can't seem to find an example. So until someone can point me in another direction I'm calling it Deep Water Hempy (DWH).
Here's how it works...
20201104_180043.jpg
3.5 gallon bucket (holds just shy of 5 gallons of LECA/Hydroton)
Fill bucket with media.
Next, pour 1 gallon of water into your bucket. Stick a ruler in the full bucket (hydroton/water) and get a measurement of how far up from the base of the bucket the top of your water level is.
This is where you will drill your drain hole, ensuring your plant always has access to 1 gallon of nutrients.

Feed line comes in from the top, filling your 1 gallon reservoir, which you water to 30% runoff daily.
If your plants are drinking more, just water more throughout the day.
You can not over water this setup.

Attach your buckets to an automated feed and drainage system, and you'll be running almost 100% "hands off" with no threat of any clogs to your systems.

I've got a Gelato and an Original Glue in my first 2 buckets. They're my trial run. If all seems to work out, I will be swapping all buckets out for DWH as plants finish.

Bye bye perlite...:superhappydance:
Edit...forgot pictures...

I got a shock today after looking @ the calendar and realized I needed to give 2 huge shout outs!

First to @Buck5050 for the "hempy starter cups" that I morphed into my start box. That thing's amazing Buck. I've refreshed the water every other day with 100% full strength veg nutes. No maintenance or any work required.

And the growth...well, that ties into my second shout out to Nirvana for their Original Glue.
I had to do a double look @ the calendar when I realized this thing was only 17 days from seed.

Needless to say, I'm extremely pleased with how the equipment and plants are responding to all the new changes.

Now I just really need some plants to start finishing....
The Green Crack and Chemdog Gorilla need to get moved asap...I'm finding with the strains I'm running can't veg for more than 3-4 weeks max even with toppings.
The darn things just get too big :)
