Toyota Tundra 06 Problem

Your description sounds exactly like what I just went thru with my Pathfinder. I had the mechanics replace the alternator and it still kept doing it.

It turned out to be a corroded battery cable. Can't remember if it was the positive or the negative, but I've had it happen on a couple occasions over the years.

Being an '06, it could just be time, they could be getting too much resistance built up. Even the ones with 'sealed' ends eventually gum up. The corrosion can creep its way along the wire.

I'd remove/isolate your two battery leads and eliminate or confirm them with a voltmeter. Cheap fix if so. Hopefully it's something quick and easy like that and not a lot of more wrenching.
Fun you say that cause the negative needs changed the end broke and I just put a screw in it to keep it tight till I can replace...
I'll start right here....

Thanks.....

As far as the corrosion guess, I believe if it's on the positive, it's being overcharged by the alt, if on the negative, it's being undercharged.
That makes sense. Usually it has been my negative lead. I run after market stereos, some with some rather significant draw, in practically every car I've ever owned since I got my license.
It probably was the ground this time too.

Yeah I'd start checking there then. If it's that, maybe you can get any money back for any other parts you've purchased.
I'll keep the extra parts if it's just something simple...
1st off I'm not pulling the new alternator if its good..
For some reason they decide to put the version 2 on my truck and it has 3 holes to attach...
The other has 2 that they sent..
But you have to pull apart the front of the motor to get 1 nut off
If looked like you could drop the skio plate and do it from the bottom..since the alternator is on the bottom of the motor..
Well not...
You have to pull everything off on the passenger side on the motor
To get the 1 inch you need to get the alternator off the stud...
What a Fucking joke..if it was a bolt you could just pull it and the thing would drop right out...

I don't understand the reason behind this, since these motors were made for the bh 500 and truck racing in general..
You would think it would be fast any easier to pull..

And now that I looked at rock Auto I guess he got me to cheapo and there's to different outputs...

Not the way I would of went..but he was just trying to help me out...
But didn't spend my money wisely....
I always get the best I can.........

Sounds like there’s some mechanically inclined folks here @Capt's Farm . You have a good path to go down now. If you didn’t have to send the old alternator back for a core I’d be keeping it for a back up especially if it’s the original. Get those cable ends straightened out and all clean, dielectric grease before assembly helps keep corrosion from forming, tight connections keep corrosion from forming and give a good path for the current to flow. You’ll have it taken care of no problem. Have a good day and weekend if that matters. Be well☕️☕️✌?

There's a core
BUT
There's a problem

It's starting to rain a little and I need to charge the battery..

So I checked the 15 amp fuse but it's ok

There is a 50 amp for heater I'll have to check.
im also going to have to check my push button for the ac... and that 50 amp.
I'll have to check everything..
Think Fred got it messed up On my button cause it's pushed in and it's not coming back out so something there is wrong now...
I put a fast charge on the battery to start it... the gauges act like it's not charging and it's just getting a neg feed back..

The truck stopped cause the battery is dead now.

So I'll charge it 100% and after all this rain goes through, I'll spend a day on it going through the whole thing...

Thanks everyone I'll let you know how this turns out

I think I'll be getting a different alternator before this is all said and done..
Oh and if I have to pull have this truck apart again, I'll be replacing the water pump cause now that I have been looking at it it going to go sooner than later.... 16143540327662235886224689510132.jpg 16143540546325561672927256428362.jpg 1614354071028409865953126371038.jpg 16143540941002874992643295785795.jpg 16143541305004382528082004530739.jpg

Awesomesauce mang. I'm gonna have to check it on out.
@Capt's Farm I'd for sure start with checking all those cables like a few folks mentioned.
I've had cables rot out from the inside just past the connectors.
Stops everything dead. Lol.
This is where I'd start looking first.
Check/test all fuses.
Disconnect the battery and check with a continuity test of each main cable, and check ground connections as well.

Ya that kicks azz..
When did you start replacing stuff??
These Toyota's just last.....
Idk man i bought the truck new its been very good to me. Nothing really major. Toyota replaced the frame when it had 300k. Water pump once did the timing belt twice although it hadnt failed. starter once which is under the intake lol and you thought the alternator was bad haha.. fuel pump in the gas tank once. Couple radiators..Alternator twice that i remember. thought it went bad again but it was just the plug i fucked it up first time i did it replaced pigtail and all was well. Bed is rotting off her now shes backed up to the salt water many of times with the boat its definitely time for a new one for me but im gonna push her a little longer...
