The Noble Gas nailed it !

The tool is like a bionic fingernail.
Turned tall, on side, will slip under staple. Bit of leverage will crown the center of the fastener.
Then, layed flat, the staple is forced to the bottom of the devils horns.
Couple of good twists, and the staple is out.
Simple to use, hard to describe. ?

Really, there is two tools there.
Hard to tell in the photo, however it is not symmetrical. With a keen eye you may notice the pitch, length, and gap is unique to each side.

Crystal Baculite?

These baculite segments seem to have completely crystalized: Was just wondering, is this common? Ive found baculite that have the opalescent nacre and some crystallization on the interior but these are the only pieces Ive found that are just solid crystal.
