I finally got my shit together and got caught up on my taxes. I hadn't filed since I bought the house. I'd always done my own and this was beyond my abilities, so it just got put aside.
Finding an accountant seemed like finding a mechanic, IE being asked to pick someone to perform a service based on skills I do not have the ability to evaluate, something I find difficult and stressful.
Anyway, finally bit the bullet and had a great experience with a young lady named Rakia. Did a couple years of taxes, found out I'm getting a nice refund, and removed a big pile of stress from my plate.
(managed to accomplish my in-town goal of complimenting a stranger a few times today, with the best being a grumpy looking old Asian gentleman wearing a beret in Costco. I said "I like your lid", immediately regretting the slang and not knowing if he would understand. He smiled a big smile and thanked me in a heavy accent.
