So the other day, the Wife and I were leaving early in the morning, and I thought I saw a Morel Mushroom pop up in a part of the front yard, and later that day we found about a bowl full of them. Today I was sore from dragging a motorized chair into my mom's house basically by myself so I didn't do a lot outside today but I went outside and I checked this side yard area we have, and I saw two Morel Mushrooms! So I carefully got myself in the brush and the wood piled up and grabbed those and started scanning, seems ended up with a decent haul for 10 minutes of careful movement lol.
The area is in a brush line that has trees and a low point that makes a small pond in spring where the frogs hang out, so it's pretty moist (haha!) And as you can probably tell I'm pretty stoned, but I kept finding one or two and got a nice sized bowl filled literally in minutes.
Told the Wife who taught me how to find these, and cooks them in butter and garlic, that we need to check that area tomorrow a bit more because an entire bowl in a few minutes is not very common!
I grab these with my fingers and pinch and twist to break the stem and then tap them on the ground so more spores may have a chance there, and then we soak them in water with some salt to make sure anything on them hops off, clean them, cut them to size and fry. Very good taste, and the dry ones they sell here make me think of a dispensary in terms of price lol. Burr of the three Mushroom species I'm capable of identifying properly; these are pretty simple. Wife cuts them in half because "fake Morel Mushrooms" are different by the cap.
I love the flavor of these and only Giant Puffball Mushrooms taste better to me, so it's nice to forage so close to the front door. The other Mushrooms are a bit harder to get to, and aren't ready yet.
Anyway I'm pretty tired now and my mix of weed I ground up tonight has me higher than eagle boogers so, goodnight everyone!
