Who loves fishing ?

My daughter readily reminded me how dumb I can be lol .
It was a Steve Irwin moment . I was totally enthralled to observe it .
Was near 6 feet long which for an Eastern Brown is considered large .
Was so calm and graceful in its movement . I could’ve watched it for some time but it wasn’t going to expose itself any longer that it needed .
Looks very similar to our Black Widow - the red usually is in an hourglass shape - found only 3 over the years on this property

I’m pretty sure it is a member of the widow family . The wife’s been nailed a few times and felt a little shook up . At least they are consistent and predictable on where you’ll find them to a degree

Well, here's my forecast for the rest of ice fishing season. Nothing that will keep me off the ice but that sure as hell isn't the tee-shirt weather I was hoping for(need at least +8 for that).
It's looking like ice-off will be late this year. I anticipate a long stretch between lake close and river thaw and I'm already hating it.

7 Day Weather Forecast.jpg
(normal high for this time period is about +5, fyi)

It’s a shame some humans behave that way towards creatures . Stating the obvious ,If you have no other option of course but I’ll always live and let live .
Look at it from the snakes point of view , how vulnerable would you feel if a creature 10x your size was hovering over you ?
Sure some creature aren’t on our favourites list but are still a creature on this planet just trying to survive like anything else .
Excuse my kind of rant but I dislike killing anything that could’ve been avoided .
I’d rather shoot something with my camera knowing it’s still out there doing what it does .
You just have to respect the resilience of most of these creatures and the environment they live in . Those crazy Emperor Penguins down Antarctica breeding in Blizzard conditions are truly remarkable . I’ll see if I can find some footage I took of a large Eastern Brown moving over the Sandhills on a trip we took a couple years back . I’ll admit my adrenalin was pumping a bit getting close knowing this reptile has killed hundreds of us Aussies over the years .

Half the things I want as a pet are dangerous to people. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Not sure I'll be able to find a psychiatrist to get my "Emotional Support Jaguar" but the thought HAS crossed my mind a few times. Shit I can cry... Why can't I have a big kitten....

I have no issue with snakes, or spiders really, as long as we leave each other alone it's all good. But at the same time if it harmed someone I care about, well then it's cheaper to feed my Catfish that day. They don't care if it's venomous or not. LOL there's a guy that lives in the South and made a video of him cleaning a baby 6 or 7 pound Blue Catfish (Yes that's a baby size) and when he opened up the stomach, a 4 or 5 foot copper head or cotton mouth fell out of the stomach and onto his cleaning station table, and he FREAKED out and ran. It was dead though of course; after a bit whatever they swallow is done for. Pretty funny though because in my mind thinking like a Catfish "Mmmmm Murder Spaghetti noodle! Nom Nom Nom!* and no more venomous snake on the water LOL.

As for Spiders I generally catch them and toss them outside if I can. If they were huge like in the Kangaroo land though I could always eat it. Basically a land lobster.

Having being raised in Florida...Everything wants to kill ya down there. Sharks, alligators, spiders, snakes, and old fn drivers.

Yeah no I would LOVE to catch a Tarpon, a Bull Shark, and a Gator, but uh, that heat and weather.... Nah LOL.

You forgot moonshine

Hey! Watch your mouth! Some of us like Irish Corn Pops. LOL. Besides, here in the Mitten it's legal; You can buy Jars of Moonshine at almost any liquor store.

LOL one day a guy from California was in the Liquor store standing next to me while I was waiting in line, and he saw all the Moonshine jars, and he said "Man it's so crazy that it's like legal here! I'm from California, and you can't sell this stuff there" and I'm laughing like "We got legal weed too and no Earthquakes" LoL.

Where I live, we used to play in the wooded/swamp areas. We would hunt and eat rabbit. Most we left as they had worms. We would also hand catch 2' gators, clean and cook in the woods also. One time I walked 3' from a coiled up cotton mouth snake. I'm glad it didn't strike, as I'd probably be dead. I lived literally a 1/2 mile from the gulf of Mexico. About 10 mins from Tarpon Springs.

Rukia is still the nastiest shit I’ve ever drank . Was with a farmer up in the hills on an island off the coast of Dubrovnik . Luckily we took the dog with us when we went up sober . He was literally our navigation system on the way home . I somehow remember falling smack in the middle of a Jack thorn bush at some stage , I think it was passing the church ( the great one sending me a sign to tidy up lol ) and not feeling a thing . Next morning yeah …….not so good

I’d love to try gator meat

Cubed and deep fried is the best! The younger the gator, the more tender it is. We only ate the tail. Theres a few spots up here that serve gator. Fishbones downtown Detroit (Greentown) serves it. My wife and I ordered it once, but I sent it back as it was undercooked. I asked the waitress to please tell the cooks gator needs to be fully cooked, this was still wagging its tail.

I've eaten gator, shark, swordfish, rattle snake, gopher turtle, snapping turtle, squirrel, raccoon, rabbit, and a few other odd game meats.

That’s a fair repertoire of select meat . Shark is great although ammonia can be intense in on the pallet in certain sharks especially larger species . We used to feast on shark all the time when we targeted certain species. Literally caught thousands of the buggers back in my young punk days

No, for pizza, we like Roger's roost on schoenherr rd north of 14 mile rd. I don't normally eat out. I can cook much better than a restaurant. I can do it much cheaper, find-follow-and cook nearly any recipe. I can duplicate hook n reels Cajun crab seafood sauce for 80% less than the cost of sitting down in their restaurant.

I haven't had that one before personally, but I wasn't super shocked to see Detroit out ranked New York AND Chicago on Pizza either haha. That Burger Place, I haven't been there in a while but some of the best food I've eaten in a place, has been a hole in the wall in the hood LOL.
