I've read that so many dumbasses have killed rattlesnakes when they rattle, IE give you a warning, that they are naturally selecting towards ones that don't rattle. Another fail for humans.
Oh well. I spent the afternoon on a lake playing with perch. It was a beautiful day, warm and mostly calm. I heard the first geese and ducks of the season and for most of the time the birds made the only sounds I could hear. I was in my tent so I could see the screens better, so I didn't see them. The action was pretty slow, but still a lot of fun. I caught a handful of ~6" perch and packed up around 6PM when the breeze started picking up while the action died off.
+5 here right now and it feels sooo nice. The snow is starting to melt off the lawn and garden, the animals are getting more active, the great renewal is beginning.
