Well, once you eventually visit, you'll have a few more of those land based catches My spot isn't super deep in the woods, but deep enough that you can count on one hand the number of people you're likely to hear around you. There's a park behind the spot, but, the brush overgrows this one area, and you basically walk into the brush REALLY slow, because you can't see, until your foot feels a drop, and then you "step down" onto a smaller platform of sand and dirt to sit down. The river is right there, you just can't see it from my spot is all

Winter is just about done. Last blast of cold will be over this week (-31 tomorrow night) and then it all trends up toward Spring.

There's lots of ice left, so I'll be going hard until the end of March when the season closes. The big hope, as always, is that there is a minimal gap between April 1 and when the river thaws.

A nice thing about being out here is that it's easy to fill any down time with hiking and exploring new areas. I always enjoy hiking but when fishing is an option, fishing usually wins.

Yeah it is starting to feel more like Spring here too. 64 degrees right now. Though it is supposed to Snow this week, but, you know, Michigan... If you don't like the Weather, wait a few.

It hit 70 F here today. The 10 day outlook has 3 more days in the mid to high 60s. 70 F = 21.11 C for those that have mastered the decimal system,
which would not be me.

Awesome brother nothing like same day caught and simply grilled or fried. I use a mix of ap rice corn and tapioca flour for my calamari.

Thanks for the tip on coating . I’ll take any advice or recipes you wish to share my friend . Always open to new flavours , especially seafood .

Doors always open to any of you blokes . My boat is now fully operational again and ready to do damage 👊🏻. Our best months are coming up on the water as our summer sea breezes which are more like summer gales start to back off into calm mild days . Less sunscreen required as well .

Blue eyed Trevalla , now you’re talking . One of my faves pulled from up to a kilometre deep water . Did you ever get Harpooka as well ?
