I'm going to be pickling a mix of hot peppers soon. I use 2 vinegar to 1 water in the brine and they can sit on the counter, in a cabinet or anywhere at room temp........good for a year minimum. You need to add some sugar to the brine to stop the pucker and pierce them so the brine gets inside. Jalapeno's I just cut in half the longway.2 more jars worth of pepperocinis ready. Few are a little early but needed a few extra. Also had a banana pepper ready so figured I'd throw it in. I've been refrigerator pickling, fine for now saying last 2 jars didnt make it long and one jar of the jalapeno rings is about gone. View attachment 77293 View attachment 77294
Yeop I do 2 to 1 vinegar to water with sugar, I also add a clove of garlic to the bottom. And I poke a hole in the top and bottom of them and after they stop bubbling I use end of a wood spoon to squeeze out some more air. I didnt grow a ton of peppers this year so wasnt to worried about storage, I eat the damn things to fast lol. Next year I'm going to do more and deffinetly will be canning for storage but now just getting my feet wet.I'm going to be pickling a mix of hot peppers soon. German Johnson tomatoes (hands down best slicer)

My garden was stalled this year by my daughter's new pet ducks got loose and eat all my seedlings.
I will have my revenge in November ?
No, that's squash vine borer eggs. Crush them. They are the bane of my existence. They're super resilient too, can overwinter in your mulch/compost. Check the undersides of the leaves too. At the end of the season I feed the plants to my chickens. I never put them in the compost pile once I see those eggs.

I hate those bastards. I wrapped the bases of my squash and they just moved forward a foot. Every squash plant and pumpkin plant has them. Squash will just make it......pumpkins probably not.No, that's squash vine borer eggs. Crush them. They are the bane of my existence. Theyre just so hard to eradicate. Because the adults live inside the vines you can't even really spray for them effectively. Gotta get them right when they're hatching. Every year I think I finally got ahead of them and every year they return!I hate those bastards. I wrapped the bases of my squash and they just moved forward a foot. I've picked a few off the squash and zucchini leaves but they seem to have left my pumpkins alone for now time to spray them again.Theyre just so hard to eradicate. White Tomesol! Got them from Bakers Creek. They're really good. I'm not actually big on uncooked tomatoes usually but I've been eating those on burgers and BLTs last couple days and loving themWhat are the white ones called?
