Anybody grow Saffron?

I was just dickin around on the internet surfing, and I came across some yaddda yadda blah blah blah anyways anybody here grow saffron?

6-10k a lb, just that there peaked my interest lol. Obviously you gotta grow a ton to get that much. but theyre just flowers that you harvest the stigma's of. It looks like you can grow them in soil less environments to really pack them in some space. I think I"m gonna give it a go, at the very least to make my own saffron with. Who knows, maybe in 10 years you'll all be begging the Saffron king to allow a little bit more oxygen into your survival bubbles. SAFFRON KING SAYS.....BRING MORE SAFFRON!!!!

Yes, that is correct, they are Crocus Sativus. Apparently real easy to grow, and I can overwinter them here in MN? are they an perrenial? that would make more sense.
We had that week of -16* last year and they survived that.
They also multiply/divide pretty fast too.
There a tiny, pretty little bulb about the size of garlic cloves maybe a bit larger.

lol it’s funny when cannabis growers bitch about their prices ( shoot my guess these region farmers would grow cannabis at same quality for 100 a lb bs that ) vs stuff like this. I can def see why it’s that price for saffron .. hard so fuck bs getting lb+ off a easy growing large plant for 1k+ a lb

I looked into this before, Iranian saffron I believe is the one they sell for 5k a lb. Chefs familiar with it can tell the difference between saffron from Iran & saffron from other parts of the world. Its enough of a black market problem they are basically authenticating Iranian saffron with a "barcode" because other countries are trying to pass their own off as authentic real deal spend lots of moneys per lb spices.

I like how we as a species have a totally legal plant that costs more than Cocaine. Can you imagine getting pulled over in a small town and you have a brick of Saffron on you with the price tag still attached and they just arrest you, assuming that it's GOT to be illegal drugs when really it's used to flavor the liquid in food haha. I'd also like to think that at least once; Someone, somewhere, shoved an eighth of this stuff into the ol' prison wallet to not get robbed or to get it through customs.
