All my stereotypes of Autos are going out the window with this years grow..

- Mephisto Double Grape (first 2 shots)
- Mephisto Hubbasquach (3 and 4 shots)
-NL Auto ..I believe..(5 and 6 shots)

this NL Auto was grown in a 1 gal pail from about 3rd week May..Imagine the size had it been in a decent sized pot..I had to splash it with my Genesis Auto pollen as I've never seen any Auto like it..buds are stacking nicely..

Hey Toast, good to see you around! That NL auto is wild, how tall is she lol?

Hey Buddy..
It's gotta be a good 6 1/2 feet from the top of the soil anyway..Quiye the surprise I must say..Great for outdoor autos too in that I didn't top it so there is no canopy to cover the lower portion of the plant..
I'm just pumping in more "high thc"genes to see where this goes..

How did your outdoor stuff make out this summer? I saw some decent snaps you posted awhile back...

Ya, the reason those pics are from a while back is... not so well haha... lost one auto to bud rot, one was stunted. The Ketama photo is doing okay (in that it's alive) but I need to rethink my approach to outdoors... my grow spot actually isn't where I live and with our awful weather this summer everything was either under or over watered all season and I didn't give them enough attention

I've gotten some suggestions on better strains for my environment and am also building a small greenhouse this fall so hopefully next season will be better

Edit: Figured I'd throw out this Pic of the Ketama while I'm on about it even though it's not an auto haha

So do they work? do they silence that woosh sound of air coming out?? I have big fckn problem with that...
I put my ex oust near my window and you can hear of air blowing out..
Yes they work great for me. If you get a quality one anyways. I haven't purchased or used any that were "cheaper" as I just thought, I really want the noise down, I should step up there, you know?. They may work just as well, but in my experience with sound, acoustics, things of that nature, quality is key across the board. There's not a whole lot to them and even some diy out there I'm sure would work as well, as to how well?.... And honestly, for the ac infinity ones, I think they were only like 50-60 bucks.

Cheers
Yes two years ago I crossed a whipeout express and a Jamaican lambsbread auto male and got some beans . They ended up awesome. So I made more this year. Started w like twelve and took the best male and fem from the bunch . Also hit a sweetooth auto from Barney's w the Whitebread male.

How do you like Barney's autos? I have only done one run of three of their malana bomb. Big buds for sure, but had too much Rudy in it or something as the thc was very low I felt. That's the only experience I have. Interested though.

I mean autos as a whole have come a long way. Barney's is solid and sweetooth is legandary imho .Soon as they hit 20 percent I was def game . But yeah there are some killer phenos especially in mine . Just had a guy send me pics of a frosty ass one just under 3 zips . I love autos versatility and always will ?

I'll have to try them again. I've had such a hit and miss relationship with Barney's Farm. But im glad to hear that you're having a positive experience with them. Def grab a few in the near future and let you know how I do.

Hahaha, funny you say that. In my black book, where I used to journal all my grows, the last time I did a barneys run, it was titled "Barney's last stand". I ran their cookies kush and it hermed really bad. In the last weeks of flowering too. Started in the back where I just didn't notice in time and by the time I did catch it, a few had opened. You know the rest. But the buds were so nice! I mean, really really beautiful cut that cookies kush is from them. So anyway, I was hell bent on trying out that smoke, so I ran them one last final time, in the hopes of pulling it off. I knew to really scower the plants now. I finished that run with a few cookies kush plants that really came out solid. Not the most vigorous plants I've ever grown, but very solid structure across the board. That was my last experience. My space is fairly limited, and with so much out there, I find it hard to flip a coin when I can buy double sided quarters all day. If you know what I mean. But I have always been decently impressed with Barney's gear, im apprehensive and always feel like a little on edge, like this could go south at any moment. Hahaha. Probably just me and my over thinking. I'm probably going to try a few autos out though. I have quite a bit of store credit at a bank in UK. They have tons of Barney's for freebies usually.

Anyone try out PCG autos yet ?. I been making my own for last couple years but I have had excellent results from purple city and am beyond interested ?
I am actually running my first auto grow and i used PCG backwoods chem and they are looking damn good at only 4 weeks today from seed and they have nice quarter sized buds on each shoot already. i did however get a dud from them only 2 of the 3 popped but of those 2 both have been growing exceptionally well. Breeding with autoflowers takes a huge amount of time and energy. We started our project last spring. We started from scratch with an excellent mold resistant auto strain that came from the rainforest of Puerto Rico. We worked that into about 20 different strains and we've been running them individually generation after generation to pull out the best traits yet build up the autoflower trait to the point of 100%. One thing we have learned is that some strains take and accept the autoflower trait much better than others. Some only take four generations to reach the point of being full autoflower and others take as many as eight. This is definitely the long path for creating new auto strains as it is much easier to simply breed with other breeders auto strains by combining them together to make something new but we have discovered that by taking this rout e we can stabilize the genetics much better and greatly minimize phenotypic variation. We hope to start the feminized releases this winter and will be looking for different cultivators to give them a shot and provide us with feedback. Watch for our extensive "gas" line as well as our 50/50 CBD/thc line coming soon.
The Autoflowering trait is a simple recessive..Just wondering why it is taking 4 generations to pin it down? It should be easily identified in the second generation with some variance as to initiation of flowering from veg-phase.

That in an excellent question. My honest opinion is that autos don't really outperform photos in indoor cultivation. I have done an interesting experiment where we started photo seeds and kept them at 12/12 their entire cycle. They ended up looking just like autos. Short, squat, full of buds. Similar to growing SOG when you put a rooted clone directly in the flower room. I like the control of photos. I like to decide when and where they start flowering. For outdoor cultivation, autos can have a huge advantage. Planted in springtime you can get finished product in June. They are great for concealment and simplicity. Full term outdoor plants can get huge and unruly. (trellising, late season mold, very conspicuous, etc). Despite what some people say, autos don't grow faster, they are not more vigorous, hardy, mold resistant, etc. Those factors are strain specific not auto/photo specific. Many people claim yield is more on autos. I disagree. The yield of an individual plant grown in a room with plenty space around it and light penetration may be excellent but what counts with indoor yield is grams/sf or more importantly in some places grams/kwh. I don't believe I have ever seen a professional cultivation facility succesfully growing autoflowers. I know a few that have tried and they regretted it. With no control over the onset of budding, the harvest windows can stretch for 3 weeks or more on a single strain.
Disclaimer: I state all of this as an opinion based on my observations as a breeder and a cultivator. Other people have their own opinions that my differ from mine and I respect that.

I concur with much of what you've said..?

The big standout benefit for Autoflowers is their ability to be grown like tomatoes..You can start them indoor early in a large pot, and take them outside to finish in a short season growing environment. For photoperiods, this doesnt work as
you will simply have a larger plant waiting for the reduced light to trigger flowering..

Most Autos will produce 50-90 grams of bud..much of it very good to
excellent compete with most photoperiod stuff..that said, elite strains..are at a level all their own.

I too am focusing on plants that will flourish and produce decent amounts of bud..That said, they are not always discrete..chuckle.

This one is getting out of hand..seems to have topped out around 6 1/2 feet and continues to stack nicely
