CAT !!!! always help with defoliation
Most cats are jerks in my experience ?

I used to have baby chicks that I would let run wild in my tent... Especially when I had male plants, before I wanted them? They loved to eat leaves I clipped for them on their own, but I'd let them go Ham on the males around the tents once identified?

Thanks for dropping by Hawk?

At first, I couldn't figure out what the hell this was that popped up in one of my Slymeball f2 pots.

...So, long story short, I have been trashing multiple plants that were bug infested, during the course of this past week. This at first looked like just a random stick that popped up that wasn't doing much of anything.

Well, while uprooting this pot, I tugged on this stem to pull it out and realized what it was... I had an avocado seed in my recycle pile that made it into this pot, and that's what sprouted!

I'm gonna try to bring it to fruition...I know it typically takes anywhere from 3-5 years from seed to maturity with these plants before seeing any fruits of the labor, but I'm gonna make this one stick around!

The reason for trashing cuts... Free cuts also/apparently come with free bugs too. Fucked up an entire bean project consisting of at least a half dozen+ different crosses in the making...I should have treated and quarantined longer/harder?

Anyhow... The one on the far right is an Alien OG cut that after several months of treatment with Plant Therapy, along with some other measures, I think I finally have her all cleaned up and ready to produce...something. These were the infected cuts, originally that set the scene of distruction...?

Then all the Cherry Pie cuts got infected shortly afterwards and I was unfortunate in my revival attempts. So Cherry Pies are all gone. These are the last of the last of the Aliens.

... Onto to better and brighter news...

A lil bagseed grow update

Everything's looking pretty good so far!

The big one in back is from the DoubleDose, candied orange terp'd, nugs. It has a some spotty variegation going on, but is growing very healthily nonethelesse top left is the f2 pot. One wants to come out and play... The other 3-4 are being all shy n stuff.

The front two pots are from the CherryDosidos nugs, one of which is showing somewhat similar variegation as the DoubleDose lady up top..

Only ones in the tent doing that. These other smaller ones should start showing sex soon.

Smoke something?

Very cool a avocado project. It’s shitty that you had to trash everything. On the bright side, you get to pop more beans!
Thanks idle! The avocado already seems to be pretty impervious to the bug situation... They killed my canna plants but this seed sprouted and seems very healthy regardless. I've still been treating everything consistently and everything appears well so far.... Plus, I'm gearing up for popping more beans? my favorite?

I was scrolling and hit the avocado pic and was like "wtf is that" before reading the following text haha.
Bummer on the bugs. I like to believe that most people are good in the soul and things like that can arise unknowingly.

I've been looking at it with the same sentiment for weeks now, lol.

Yes, it was very unfortunate, and I agree. I was really looking forward to making those crosses though, and the Slymeball F3s...still wanted to work that one a lil further...the 10Fold crosses with the reversal fem pollen, MACv2 Xs, BananaFruitSnax Xs... ? Very unfortunate indeed...

But no use in crying over spilt milk. What's done is done and there's no going back, only pushing forward! Still sucks, and the pollens I exhausted I can't get back, but I've got more beans of everything I had going, so not a complete loss of hope as I can always try again at some point in the future.?

Sweet avocado, always found things not true to seed interesting. How we only eat a certain variety of avacadoes and apples do to the seeds not producing the same fruit.
Thanks man, I'm kinda juiced about it! When I first started growing plants, in general, avocado, the superfood, had always been a main interest of mine (aside from the obvious canna focus when all said n done). I even bought a few mature trees when I first started, only to eventually kill them with my incompetence and lack of experience/knowledge...

Which still bugs me to this very day, even about a decade later. I have much higher hopes for this and am willing to put in the time and effort to see these through?

Things not true to seed... 'Interesting' is certainly one way to put it for sure... But, that's not for me, and I'm not a fan or indulger. Unless it's grapes, that is...I hate eating seeded grapes... it's the pits, lol! Other than that, I'm all for and all about the seed and survival of future generations... Growing true to seed as nature intended, ya buddy, sign me up!

Unfortunate about the trees, was looking at fruit trees this year, kicking myself for not starting one. Hope the tree turns out for you!!

That's the only plant other than the bigger older DoubleDose plant to show so far... It's obviously a dood.

The crazy thing...I have a female showing in the CherryDosidos pot...super early...showing sex before everything else (5-8 others of the same line). Crazy.
IMG_20210805_203948989.jpg
I've never seen that before. Males (I guess, except for now, only) almost always show first. Maybe she's the only lady and she's trying to show out for all the doods surrounding her ? she wants that sprinkle sprinkle shake shake, begging for it...

Here's some pics of that Alien OG from a couple nights ago.
IMG_20210805_202409544.jpg IMG_20210805_202415404.jpg
She looks better than she ever has! So, I believe I beat the russet mites... Came at a helluva a price, but I believe they have been beat. She's growing at a normal pace and no funky or awkward growth in sight. And I couldn't be happier about that!

I took a cutting from that lower bottom branch. Here she is after the snip
IMG_20210805_202610715.jpg
I left a couple nodes down low to try again in a week or two just in case that one doesn't root for me.

Russets are beat, but when I was taking the snip I noticed fungus gnats were flocking to this pot. I started noticing them a week or so ago and population seemed to be increasing. So I hung a sticky trap in there and it's cut the numbers down, in general, quite a bit...trap is loaded with lil buggers and needs replacing already.

But, ya, I noticed a bunch huddled up on the soil surface of this pot. So, I tossed some Neem seed meal and insect frass at her, watered in really good. Then hit her last night with a healthy serving of Plant Therapy, foliar and drench. I'll probly throw some DE at her tonight for good measure. Then repeat the whole process again in a few days or so. Then, by that time, or shortly after, bud mode should be commencing?

Smokey skies from yesterday...

Today was a lil better, not as bad or hot. Hopefully my outdoor Cali brethren don't get hit too bad this fire season?

Pics from a few days ago

DoubleDose pot, female. She was getting way too tall, so I lst clipped the tops to keep it a lil more manageable. Kinda reminds me of Hey Arnold! Long football head ass?
IMG_20210812_205041784.jpg
We'll just have to wait to find out and see how she'll turn out, lol. I did notice an interesting leaf trait on this girl. If you look closely, she likes to throw a bunch of 4-fingered leaves... They're all over, looks kinda cool!

CherryDosidos pots, 2 confirmed females in the back pot. 1 was probly twice the height, so I used a lst clip to bend it to the same level as the other...
IMG_20210813_065614012.jpg IMG_20210813_065601872.jpg
The front pot has 3 that are still yet to show either way.

There are also 2 very small runts down low that I'm getting ready to pull cause they, as you can see, just aren't really moving much... Stuck in baby form ?
IMG_20210813_065609749.jpg

Looks like I must have skipped over the F2 pot, as I can't find any pictures...

I've been treating these plants religiously to ensure I killed all the pests. Everything is looking good. Due to me treating so much, they've been under lower light conditions to avoid burn. I noticed a night or two ago that when I turn the lights up, they start praying for me. So, since buds are starting to form and no bugs (aside from some fungus gnats) I'm gonna cut the treatments they've been receiving in half and crank those puppies up!

Got all the other infested plants culled and pots removed from the big tent. Gave her a good scrub down, gonna run half fems and half regs... and she's ready for a filler-up!

on super foods

have you ever grown collards? they are so easy to grow and they don't care about droughts, heat, cold and are fairly pest resistant

"Dr. Axe explains, “They are great sources of vitamins K, A, C and E, along with folate, potassium, magnesium, iron and more, but what really makes them stand apart is their supply of beneficial compounds called glucosinolates (like kale). These compounds have been found to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties. They also help inactivate carcinogens and prevent tumor formation and metastasis.”

awesome in fried rice and using it on the grill!

keep up the journal brotha, love seeing all this loving

Thanks for the info! But, I have not grown, no, and honestly have never consumed either so was never really on the radar. But by the sound of it, if I did end up growing them, and even if I didn't like consuming them personally, I'm sure the rest of the garden would enjoy and benefit from them... I'll look a lil more into em?

IMG_20210814_195201996.jpg
This is a tomato plant that popped up in the cover crop of one of my canna pots that was recently harvested. No idea what variety she is. I had tossed older random seeds I had in for the cover crop plus I regularly throw tomato scraps in my recycle pile, so it's a complete mystery (at this point anyway) as to what will come of them... But we'll find out in due time!

Here's the F2 pot that got skipped over in the last post.

I removed it from the small tent, which is why I couldn't find pictures of it from the other night. I've been plucking balls off this dood for the past week which is why you can only notice any up top. Didn't want him pollinating my DoubleDose lady plant...yet, anyway!

On that note, he does however have a very intriguing, and very unique, stem rub that has definitely caught and piqued my interest! Seriously thinking about taking clones and/or revegging. Might let him slide up in the lady mix. Aside from the outstanding vigor of the DoubleDose female, he is a very close runner up across the board in that department. Both are the standouts of the group so far... Only makes sense right?!

The suspected, but not yet showing, females down low are staying really squat, so not sure what will become of them... Kinda over waiting for them to come out n play already honestly...I need that vigor in my life!

With that said, not too sure I'm liking this 12/12 from seed business. Seems like a good idea at face value... but also seems like everything's not only taking a long time to transition to bud formation, but also seems like everything's gonna be really small when all said n done. I think I like the 4-6 week veg, and finish in 5gal fabric smart pots is a better approach, at least in my setup, style, and situation.

And, last but not least, here's the AlienOG from a couple nights ago

I've noticed an interesting trait on this girl also. She throws some 5 fingers down low (just like the 4-fingered girl from last post) but likes to throw a bunch of 3-fingers up top.

I've heard some, here n there, over the years, claim that true OG cuts throw the 3-fingers, and rarely throw more than 5 even when happy as all hell...and these (3- and 4-fingered plants) are the happiest most vigorous plants going currently. Honestly, they're shitting on everything else right now. So, I'm very interested to see this all turns out?
