Dr. Earth Liquid Nutrients For Indoor Cannabis Cultivation- microgrow

Come As You Are
Creepin' up on week 3 of flower in a few days.
?Peanut Butter Breath x Citrus Milf[Sour Skippy] #1 & #2 were the first to cross the 2 foot mark. Everything else is close behind. The funk is growing and the tent being open during watering will probably be an issue during full bloom. I'll probably end up scrubbing the room air as well. No distinct smells eminating from the ladies yet, at least that I can tell. Stem rubs just produce a beautiful "weed funk" smell.

PXL_20221217_061617829.jpg

The late bloomer Sour Skippy #4 is on a pedestal in the rear right. I love the look of the sun leaves on that one and the Greases Pieces #2 nice fat, classic cannabis leaves... very Indica expressing.

It's just business as usual I guess. Next watering I start the Golden Bloom and they get a healthy dose of the Home Grown 4-6-3. I *might* add a pinch of castings and compost the following week in lieu of compost tea. I won't be doing any more compost tea this round. No other reason than I feel adding straight compost will benefit the plant more than some microbes and elements leeched from it. We'll see.

✌️

edit- I don't know what damn day it is anymore

For this one, I'm switching EVERYTHING up.

The inaugural run will begin with genetics supplied by @HydroRed of 3Thirteen Seeds fame.

View attachment 142885

Each variety will be color coded which will make it easier for me to track individually in Google Calendar.

?= Greases Pieces S1
?= Apple Fritter x Citrus Milf
?= Peanut Butter Breath x Citrus Milf

I tried to get Dennis at the machine shop to cut my SF4k in half but he refused after he actually saw the light so..
I'll be using my Viparspectra XS1500 for the beginning of the grow and will add the Viparspectra XS1000 as I get into bloom and the tent fills out more.
This will take place in the cheapest 2x4 I could find on Amazon in 2021.

For air movement, I'll be using a AC Infinity Cloudline T-4 w/cheap carbon scrubber to exhaust the tent and the AC Infinity Cloudray S-6 courtesy of the June POTM.
Medium will consist of Promix HP amended with a small amount of organic compost, worm castings, and a bit of Dr. Earth Tomato & Herb 4-6-3 as well as some oyster shell flour and a pinch of diatomaceous earth.
I'll be using reverse osmosis water in lieu of tap water.

My feed program will follow the Dr. Earth Liquid Fertilizer schedule with the exception that I will skip a large chunk of veg and go almost straight to flower:

Not pictured, the 25# bag of T&H 4-6-3 sitting in the garage

I've done organic gardening for quite a while and have used Dr. Earth in that respect but this will be my first venture into indoor organic cannabis.
So let's see how I'm doing so far.

The initial plan was to run 12 plants in 1-gallon plastic nursery pots. I've reduced that number to 9 as I suspect the tent may become a bit crowded even with the 9.

The beans, three of each, were dropped into water on the 5th of November at 3AM PST.[see above picture] Within 36 hours the AFCM had tails and the Greases Pieces were right behind them. Two of the PBB x CM had cracked and were beginning to develop tails but the third one was being stubborn. As of yesterday[Nov. 10, #3 still had not cracked so I dropped the 4th bean into water however, I just checked the status of #3 and it lookd likr it's on it's way to becoming a cannabis plant so I will probably end up with an extra PBB x CM.

Once the tails were out, I put the seeds into 2 inch peat cups filled with the medium.

View attachment 142899

As of today[Nov. 11] all nine seeds are in peat pots and eight are doing relatively well considering I just kinda bashed this stuff together.

View attachment 142900 View attachment 142901

My primary concerns are pot size and running out of root space too early and keeping the plants in check enough that the tent doesn't become wildly overgrown.[The AFCM tap has already come through the bottom of the peat pot and it's looking for someone to strangle]

Secondary concerns are: this only lasts as long as my F-I-L stays alive. As of September '22, I am his full-time caregiver 22/7[the wife picks up some of my slack here and there, lol]. Once he passes, we are scrambling to figure out what our plan is. But to put things in perspective, my wife has been 'assisting' him since his stroke in 2017. In 2019, after he broke his hip, she moved in full-time. In 2020, he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer and put on hospice where he's remained since. He's currently bed-ridden[fell again, broke ribs] and we all went through a bout of Covid in August. These Greatest Generationers are built like fuckin' tanks.
Anywho, the plan is to complete the 3Thirteen run, then start the next, which I figure will be a bit of stuff from the POTM prize pack. If things are looking optimistic in February, I'm putting six Purple Caper autos in pots and tossing those outside, probably in sets of two for February, March, and April. Guess we'll see how that goes.

some purple carrots I grew?‍♂️:

And the latest addition to my genetics library courtesy of @blue_collar_beans, tyvm @JGG and @Bubby's n da lab!

View attachment 142903

I think that covers everything right now.
Oh, I'm using the high-CFM kit only because I have it and I don't want the tent door flopping on the plants every time I unzip the tent(y)
Thanks for stopping by!

Damn, very nice. I can't believe I haven't seen this thread. Still on pg 1 and will be catching up and quickly seeing where you are now in the grow and THAT is pretty cool but still, wish I saw this last month❤️ As you and your wife obviously well know, helping others is one of the most rewarding things we can do in this life? I'm gonna go catch up?

Thanks for swinging in!

Both the wife and I are completely burnt out. She's been doing this since 2017 and the workload has increased exponentially over time. We both cannot wait to move on with our lives and honestly, the longer this goes on, the more difficult moving on to that next chapter becomes.
I will check mine again...begining of week 4 but was all girl last week...

That's one of 3. It lost a bit of the asymmetry on that node. Right now everything else in the tent is ?

All 3 of those are showing intersexing or thats one of 3 showing it?
What a bummer. This is the first report of many that had any issues with boy parts.

I hear ya on the burnout but trust me, as time goes on you wouldn't have done any different?

I've surpassed the three foot mark.

PXL_20221221_155841377.jpg

In honor of @Dino Party I pulled the balls off the one Apple Bottom [it was #2, not #1].
I'll keep an eye on it and if anything seems amiss I'll yank her.

A fan from each except the wonky one.

PXL_20221222_075531798.jpg
These are probably the biggest fans I've had on indoor plants.

Happy flowers starting to develop.

Still no real distinct odors emanating from them except a nice deep funk. A beautiful funk.
I'll get some detailed shots tonight.?

Coming up on week five in a few days. Everything seems to be moving in slo-mo but it's moving for sure.

I'm pretty much out of room for the stuff on the left. I'll be switching my exhaust fan out to the Cloudline T-6 and a bigger filter. Also going to move it to the outside top of the tent so I can tack both lights to the roof. I think I can run the T-6 at a lower speed for a bit more quiet. The T-4 is quiet on the first setting but noise increases exponentially from there up. It's not loud but it's loud enough to attract attention.

Smells(@Psychobilly skip to this part)

The tent has the general overall funk, like a body odor going on. It's real nice. Opening the tent and moving a few out to water fills the entire room and a good portion of the West side of the house. We've had guests since Christmas and that has hindered my ability to pull the plants out to get decent pix.

The Greases Pieces #1 and #3 both have a Peanut Butter Breath nuttiness but it's missing the PBB earthiness. They have a kind of herb-y spice going o that's unfamiliar to me.
#2 is just weird. It has the herb-y spice but none of the nuttiness. Fragrance is very subdued.

The Apple Bottom is WOW! #3 has a fantastic strawberry apple-ness to it, very strong at this point. #2 is the one that had some intersex issues early on but seems to be in line for now. It is the subdued one of this bunch with nothing easy to detect right now. #1 is close to #3 but I'm not getting that sweet strawberry on the front of the apple with this one.
I start the 3rd phase of nutrients[Golden Bloom only] on the next watering. I top dressed with a teaspoon of Home Grown 4-6-3 and a tbsp of castings last night while watering..
All together, the plants are using a hair over 2 gallons every couple of days.

I'll update with the Sour Skippy tonight. ✌️

They look beautiful brother! That peanut shell is interesting; I've got Skywalker from this season that has the Blueberry Jam scent like last year's did but there's a distinct peanut butter smell in it too that I've never had before.
It took a while for it to grow on me. I've typically favored gassy-fuely in the past. I can enjoy fruity/grapey with bias towards the fruity as I'm still not entirely done with being tired of the grape flavor. Grape was almost seemingly all you could get around here from 1998-2005-6.

When Peanut Butter Breath was introduced to me, I wasn't an instant fan because it was mostly dispensary prerolls and eighths that lacked in flavor and smell.
I still love a good diesel but the earthy nuttiness of the PBB has really won me over.
It's a great contrast to the Double True Soulfire which is quickly becoming a local favorite. Both together make an awesome blend also.

These are my tallest and shortest plants.
#1 and #4 are going to be thick.

Normally I'll pinch off the lower larfy stuff for early smell tests. Right now all I can discern between the general funk is a creamy, sharp citrus note that fades fast. It doesn't seem like lemon or orange maybe a bit grapefruit-y.

Right now #4 definitely has my attention looks-wise.

Yeah I'm a fan myself of the gassy :) I did have a REALLY nice Purple Chemdog that had that grape aroma in it too, and I quite enjoyed that. I know what you mean with the preroll thing.... They could probably put a little notice on those like "Don't worry; No actual buds have been harmed in the making of this product" LOL.

This is the same plant(clone) you've run before or same strain different seed?

It's a bag seed off of last year's; I have liked Skywalker for as long as I can remember having it, like back before I was growing, and when I had the chance to have a Skywalker clone, I went for it, and apparently the person who it came from took clones off of clones off of clones and so forth, and I'm not honestly sure how long it had been going like that, but I got a few seeds out of it and kept them.

There's always a chance it was pollinated, as that does happen sometimes outside, so I have them marked now. when I find a seed here and there I put it in a bag with the year and a note that it may be a mystery cross. the clone was a pretty straight Skywalker smell you'd expect with the parents; Little bit Blueberry, little bit Earthy / Wet soil / Mushroom aroma, but the seeds from it leaned HEAVY Blueberry; Like legit smelled like Blueberry Jam and pretty pungent with that smell too; You could open the bag and smell Blueberry Jam from across the room. I decided since the Wife had good success with that exact one with her stomach issues, I'd use seeds from that one to do this year's seedling. The Blueberry Jam aroma is the strongest thing you smell, but that Peanut Butter smell at the very end is pretty awesome really. It could be a cross at this point, or, it could be a phenotype but, it's a good one either way and helps her out a lot so I run it. It does really well in this climate as the cold doesn't bother that one, and it turns beautiful colors.

Week five of flower starts today. I cleaned up the Cloudline T-6 and swapped that with the T-4. I'm now pulling air out of the tent and pushing it through the filter.
This allowed me to pin the lights to the tent ceiling.

Looking great @pwnytailjoe I basically run my tent the same way. All the filers and fans are outside freeing up valuable real estate. Fortunately for me though I dont have to worry about stealth so I can leave my shit hanging out like a slob and not worry lol

Thanks Red! I wasn't expecting nearly as much vertical stretch as I got, especially with the Apple Bottom #1 & #2. The #4 is where I like to keep it, about 2 ft of plant.
Going to add a bit more "N" on subsequent grows and probably change the Dr Earth medium amendment from the 4-6-3 to 4-4-4 and see how I like that.

Stealth is becoming less of a concern and more of a courtesy as I'm not really hiding, just don't want the drama that would arise from a couple of the family, should they discover what's going on. Electricity use, with this and the makeshift veg tent in the garage is still less than when my wife's niece and two daughters were here to "help out". [narrator: they didn't help and just made big fvcking messes that my wife had to clean up.]

It's cold and dirty in there but the plants are still alive, no pests and no WPM, and the Japanese Maple is actually doing really well. 62% is good, its been 80-ish for the past week.
