So I was reading a thread on a different board about LED light bleaching. In my years I’m familiar with light bleaching, but not from 30” and further. I’m not complaining, but this has been a learning process. For example a 1000 watt MH can be 24-30” away from a plant’s tops in week 7 of veg with no ill effects. But my current grow is 24” away, in week 7 of veg, and I can’t give them more than 200 watts total without bleaching and shying away from the light. No one has said this, but I think the reason for this is MH/HPS are basically specific light ranges and up until LED’s creation. They were the best thing we could create to mimic the sun. Now enter LED’s that are specifically designed to certain light spectrums we KNOW a plant wants and needs. More spectrums useful to a plant, results in higher function in the plant. If this gets overloaded then you have bleaching.... I think.....
ANYWAY, I digress... (This portion of ADD theatre was brought to you by the letter M..... Mmmmmmm!!! ) I came across a image that’s kinda resourceful for a beginning grower. I know everyone on this board isn’t truly in need of this but we have “lookers” find us all the time so I thought I’d share....

Led's are definatley a differant animal than HID lighting.
I believe part of the diffeance is an HId lamp has 1 hot spot, the filiment. Whereas an LED is point of light, each little diode is a hot spot.
An HID sends light out in all directions, an LED is directional sending light stright put from it.

Here’s another thing I do you may find useful. Understand what I say comes from personal experience. But I store my pollen in vacuumed sealed food storage. In my experience no air at all = no degradation. I have used pollen I have stored for over 6 years and no refrigeration and had no issues whatsoever.

8 year old Lambs Bread F2 pollen from a spectacular male (the last I have) I will eventually use.

You know (well I do) it’s time to water/feed when your AC infinity fan stays on a setting of 3 to keep the 4x4 at 75+* and 53%RH. Normally when they’re not ‘dry’ and are transpiring at peak, a setting of 8-10 keeps them at 75-77* and 53-55% RH. As they use the water and transpire it into the air this obviously raises the RH. As they have less moisture in the soil to use, they transpire less and I watch the setting for the fan drop over the course of several days. This has been extremely consistent with when I actually check my soil and They’ve need aqua.

I’ll feed them compost tea with a final feeding of a 1/2 cup of Dr. Earth Organic 4-4-4 added to the sock holding the solids ( worm castings, compost(no manure!!), and living soil.) in the tea.

The tea is “cooking” and will be fully ready at 12:00 am when my lights come back on. The kiddies will be anxiously waiting for their Ambrose. I’ll finally post more than top view pics when I pull them out for almost the last time.

Well, it took my wife yelling at me (more than once) that if I’m doing the seriously I need to apply all my talents. So... I broke out something better to take pics (than my iPhone) and a tripod. For all you folks competing in the pic contests. If you’re NOT using a tripod and think you take amazing images. Use one and see how truly amazing you can be. I actually have 4 cameras with the best being a 7D and 2 other Canon Rebels and this Nikon D3200 I use for travel. Want a camera that can take a beating and still produce amazing images??? This is it!!!

So I was told my off topic posts are interesting I just need to refrain from giving personal (Doxing type) info. That’s why some of the Primal Studios post were not removed. I fully agree and understand the rule. Since we’re at that water and wait stage just before flipping. I just pulled out some of my photo equip it got me to thinking. So I’ve shown you some of my “travel” photography. In my travels I’ve actually taken some funny and amazing image.

So I was covering Richmond Harley Davidson’s Birthday bash for a biker mag and not only am I writing the article but I’m taking pics as well. I come across a shapely girl washing a bike, who obviously thinks she’s a fashion model as she see my with professional equipment. She sticks her rear out, strikes a pose, and squeezes on the water. She was probably hoping I’d zoom in
and capture something like what’s pictured above. This was NOT the case. The reason the above image is so grainy is it’s a blow up of a portion of what i actually took. Pictured below is WHY I did NOT zoom in. I saw THIS happening and the sadistic side of me couldn’t help myself. I kept my mouth shut JUST to get this shot!!!

That guy was SOOOOO pissed. He had just spent $15.00 on the beer in the solo cup she soaked.

For a period of time I was doing articles covering biker events in Virginia. As ALWAYS there was women washing bikes..... and of COURSE they wanted me to take their picture. I was SICK of these shots. So I took the following shot. I will tell you this is one of those “When you see it...” images. But the ladies were not the TRUE focal point of the shot.

Here’s something else you might find interesting. My wife and I travel A LOT. We always find a way. She hated I had 30 long boxes of comics until she saw me sell 30 of them over a week and it paid for our trip to Thailand. ANYWAY..... One of our favorite cities to visit is Amsterdam, Netherlands and even if they ban tourist from the coffee houses. We’d still go. There are Soooooo many reason to visit there that have nothing to do with cannabis or museums. For example the Dutch have given new meaning to “Give me something deep fried and covered in gravy!!!”
I give you bitterballin, in effect “deep fried gravy”. Think I’m kidding???
You dip it in a spicy mustard and it’s actually yummy!!!

Was this before they outlawed shrooms and only the smart shops could sell the “truffles” which honestly was the same exact thing??
Well I don’t drink. (For 20 years I either made my living or supplemented my income by throwing drunks out of bars. Kinda kills your appetite for it.) So as far as purchasing I get my stuff at Noon. This is the shop that DJ short used to sponsor Blueberry when it won the cannabis cup. It’s their “specialty strain” and their Moroccan Honey Hash is to DIE for. The best hash I have found there and one of the best deals. It used to be 5 gms for 35 euro. Now (2019) its 5 gms for 50. It’s owned and run by a couple guys from Morocco who are friendly as can be. As far as hanging out and sipping a coffee while smoking out. I’m a sucker for <gasp> The Bulldog in Leidseplein square. The staff stays consistent year after years and some of them remember me. I know it’s a tourist trap but I love the Bulldog Coffee where they mix quality Amsterdam espresso w/ fresh hot chocolate. It just appeals the the diabetic in me...?. I know of a Smokey’s coffee shop over on Rembrandtplein. When you exit Central you cross the street and if you go down the left center street it’s about 3 blocks up. If you go right you head into the shopping district and if you go down the right center... I hope you’re single or have a understanding spouse. Left is ALWAYS under construction. The wife and I stayed at the Doubletree hotel to the left and across the canal from Central last time we went (2019). We flew into Amsterdam, stayed 1 day there to unwind from the flight. Then we rented a car at Schiphol and drove down to Zell, Germany in the Mosel Valley. We stayed there 2 days and then went to the Champagne Region of France. Stayed there 2 days then went to Rouen, France and stayed there 2 days and checked out the beaches at Normandy. From there we went to Bruge Belgium and stayed there a day. Then back to Amsterdam for a 2 days unwind before heading home. Now I know that sounds EXPENSIVE. But, we stayed in AMAZING B&B’s and the whole thing cost 2,000 per person, for EVERYTHING!!! Anyway all that to say “Yeah, I stayed at the Amsterdam Doubletree last time. I actually scored my last bit of hash before leaving from Smokey’s so I know exactly where it is.”
Sorry man, even writing I tend to ramble. 2020 is the first year in the last 8 I didn’t spend at least one day in Amsterdam. I sure as hell hope 2021 isn’t going to be the same way.
