Plan was to start the greenhouse up middle of this month. It was below zero this morning. ?‍♂️

Some of my tomatoes are over a foot tall, they got all shitty after a foliar and I thought it was because of that but since they contunued to get worse I decided to move them from under a cob rig to t5s and they are much happier now.

Peppers, strawberries, squash and mellons (need to repop both of those for poor germination), greens (herbs lettuce and such), nicotiana (crimson bedder and silverstema), gompherna, chamomile, salvia, alyssium and columbine ("rocky mountain blue" from my yard).

Trying some Anaheim peppers from seeds collected last year, have combo starts of them with straberries and columbine.

Do you not have an Amish or Mennonite community near you? Buy the corn seed stock from them ..it is old school and not all this shit...big yellow corn.
I don't have one near by. Just about everything that I see being grown here and upstate, is Silver Queen. It commands a premium and that's what I see mostly. I'm talking stand or farm grown..I don't know what I get in the stores. That Golden Bantam I 'm talking about has that good yellow corn taste and it's not a hybrid. If I grew it last year I'd have a ton of useable seed now....some thing cross pollinate around here but not corn.......cause nobody's growing it close enough. The ears are only 5-7 inches.a little short but ok.

I got Bloody Butcher and Carl's Gem seeds from last year. One is dent corn the other is popcorn so they don't cross pollinate.
Locals grow soy/feed corn around here but it was a soy rotation.
You are more than welcome to some.

I appreciatte the offer but I have already orderd the bantams. I love those multi colored popcorn ones, especially the blue tints. I have a popcorn called Calico that's been great. What do you do with or how do you eat that big red one?

Could be corn meal too but

Nobody said you only have to plant one kind not like corn has plant count.

Great to see everyone with their harvests and over northern hemisphere, their early start to season.
Mine are coming in. Pumpkins galore and sweet corn harvest today with tin lids
With all the drama in the world, feeding yourself takes on a bigger meaning. Rising food prices, food shortages comingcup etc. Stay safe fellas

Grandparents did it during the depression era, parents did it during the recession era.
Guess it's our generation to pick up the pieces again and see if they work for us during this constipation era where everyone's full of chit in power.

It's the space I have that will grow corn that is limited. I basically live on a rock, with the dirt that I have has been brought in or made over time. :) debating a top soil order now actually..........damn snow needs to go..
I just got the bantam seeds saturday. It's weird getting your corn seed and snowblower shear pins in the same package.......but hey, I'm happy for both!
