Aloha peoples!
My friends call me ziggy and i am a med grower in hawaii. My patient is myself 🤙

I enjoy having grow rights and i tried alot of methods first couple runs. For last few years i have stayed dialed back to easy methods and keep it simple as can, bc of money,time,space constraints.
I veg inside in a tent and flower most stuff outdoors excluding some autoflowers.
the veg tent is usually chaos, i refer to it as a gauntlet. Only the tuff survive!
I thought a journal would be cool to showcase some of the side steps and pitfalls in my growing, maybe that would encourage some people on the fence about growing and showing to just jump into it. If i can do it, u can do it better i bet. I am just having fun with it myself!

Heres Some stuff outside nowadays

This is oaxacan9 x angel wing afghan (bodhi) i put 4 in a pot expecting some males to show for a quick easy f2...
But against all odds wt bodhi stuff i got 4 females pushed together! Oh well



And here is a genius x rosetta (brothersgrimmtester). It should hv a tomato cage and is trying to turn into the heirloom tomato plant 2 pot downs. Oh well
I am so glad we missed the last tropical storm. She is too tall/lanky for all that wind!


Here is a mystery gal. I believe it is a strayfox. So for now its a stray stray 😁
It could be a patty fay?

I already broke my own rules and cloned these girls after they went outside. Trying to quarantine them for as long as possible inside bc i believe this is how i got pests in my veg tent before. 🤞🏼
I'll get some garden pics up soon so yal can peep da vibe.

Summer and fall are my best months.
Lights hours are funky in hawaii. It doesnt get much more than 13/11. Plants will sex within 2 weeks outside in most cases.

In the winter, light hours are too short and i get many smaller plants. winter season here has more rain and winds. Its not the best for fussy plants. Heavy plants can get budrot. Its can be a struggle.
It is good for doing small pheno hunts, stresstesting, and micro breeding. Which i try to take advantage of.

i live on the eastside of the island and i am pretty close to the koolau mountains so i dont get direct sunlight after 3pm.
Westside is the sunnier side. The mornings are amazing over here. West/north shore get the nice sunsets.

I grew up on the mainland and i love seeing everyones garden here throughout the seasons. And people get monsters being able to veg outside!

I have been trying to take pics of the garden on the way out the door. its not ideal being in a hurry. Maybe i will have a mellow sunday 🤞🏼

Mystery gal with spider mang. This one smells nice, every morning i forget and lean in on that spider while getting my sniff on. I have removed it several times already but she doesnt give up!

Heres something i keep around for fun and its interesting to me.
This is originally from an rsc congolese that was a crazy grow. The original mom was hit wt a purple pollen mix i made. From Those seeds i used a male to hit some things. In this case it is a cross i hv i call mikky.
It is a sort of side step from what i would have wanted but it is cool to see the original mom's structure on a way more squat frame and with more resin/smells.

This plant has been in flower for months. Already made fully mature seeds from one male.(chem kiwi x) And then continued to make these new flowers which i have hit with dif pollen than the lowers had. The lower branches are all removed and you never would hv guessed they ever existed.
It's some perfect ratio of reveg and flower or something lol i dont exactly know. I do know It is a real seed making machine of a plant.
The original's buds were pencil eraser sized, this plant is somewhat of an improvement on flower shape. Not something for da cool guy growers 🤓

Bummer on getting all males, that Endor Score x Chem cookie trip was a fun cross i made and ended up sending them over to Useful. I did run a few and had a nice mix of the parents.

No worries on the wookie 15 performing outside. I have grown numerous strains of Bodhi's using it outside and they have been stellar. My personal faves are the Lemon Wookie v2 and Space Monkey. Also pulled some really choice ladies from granola funk and guava wookie. If you look towards the beginning of my journal their are some pics and writeups on the Lemon Wookie v2.

this is a cross i made wt cherry gar seeya as the momma. She always stacked tight but she is alittle leafy too. I dont mind at all but in a real wet season or if no winds she could a problem. This is her in a 5gal wt 2 friends and no special feed. Just some water from the aquaponics sometimes 😁

I may hv been mistaken before. I had popped the whole freebie pack of endor score x chem cookie trip. Whatever made it had its own orgy pot. I had 2 vigorous males that came and went already. I forgot there was also a super slow small plant that never sexed. It was so behind i planted something else wt it that was similar size at the time. Now a month or more later it seems to be rocking along, been topped and its not too mad about it.
Here it is, hope it looks the part 🤞🏼

Hey oahu is doing alright thanks for asking!
Its windy out here bc of passing hurricane to the south.
Maui is def in distress. I can't believe old lahaina town is burned down. I have fam on maui and they are all ok, which was a relief.
Hoping winds die down later today and damage can be assessed.
So people can understand, each island here generally has a green, rainy eastside and a hot, dry westside. As an example westside oahu could hv red flag days bc of conditions but while on eastside there is no chance for fires to spread.. we get da floods instead
Maui is shaped kinda like a figure 8 and that middle low area between 2 big mountains is like a wind tunnel. Mixed in unused old ag land everywhere and its really bad for fires.

Wonderful to hear your family is ok ! My wife lived near Honolulu for a few years when she was a Navy wife ( a very distressing time for me as I never served in the Navy ) she went over to Lahaina a few times. There's a big banyan tree in a park that's a well known landmark, they showed it on tv last night she cried a little bit, it burned. She has a picture of that tree somewhere taken when she was 19-20 yrs. old and she said that was the most beautiful tree I ever saw.

Here is mikky x congo making me happy.
This thing still gets my attention. This thing has some lingering grapey perfume kinda smell now thats mostly the smell of the garden. Its not super loud at first, somehow sticks around and makes me notice it more. It had no resin or nice smell 2 gens back as the congolese mom. i maybe biased bc i love seeing traits clash and landrace stuff seems so dominant, its nice to see a even mix pop up.

I was listening to the potcast wt kagyu and he mentioned another old timer popping old seeds directly inside of aloe leaves. Atleast for the first day or so.
I have alot of old seeds from snowhigh.
I bet others do too, he sent abunch wt orders last year or 2 i bet. I am going to try this method bc i hv had almost 0% wt these old seeds. I will report back on it if its successful at all

Yes, so many missing and presumably dead that it just hurts ones soul. If that tree pulls through it really will be a legend.
