Quitting Cigarettes?

I quit about 12 years ago. Smoked for about 15 years. 2.5 packs a day.

Quit cold turkey.

You really have to pre determine you will do it. Similar to an obese person wanting to lose weight. The benefit is almost all the way at the end of your goal.

“Win the Day.” “Sleep early”

I took it a day at a time, and as soon as I could I got into bed, cause boredom and late nights are not friendly. I started working out, just get to the gym, or the walking trail.

Started eating healthier. So I could see double the health increase.

Also, your identity seems to be around smoking…maybe label yourself something more beneficial to your goals….subconscious thought and habits are what control humans to destroy themselves.

Good luck!!

You must be an old head because your wise and knowledgeable I bet it took a lot of self reflection to get where you are.

Are you a religious person, or into philosophy?
Just turned 40. Raised religious, no longer religious. Read the Bible, Quran, Vedas, Book of the Dead. Buddhas teachings and such. Very into philosophy.

Lived very fast like yourself, plus military and wartime experience. Having kids matures u up real quick….if u want to be a good parent anyway.

And if your blowing smoke up my arse…answer is the same :)

Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant plus anti-smoking sensation aide. Chantix is ONLY an anti sensation aide, no anti-depressant.

Lots of ppl have had issues while taking Wellbutrin (I have as well when I took it for 3 days).

You're right, I was wrong. But it is true what I said about doctors prescribing Wellbutrin instead of Chantix for insurance reasons. That's why I originally thought they were the same thing.

for an example I used to love smoking blunts, I rolled one last night but couldn't finish it because I was hacking my ass off every hit which isn't like me.

SAME! 20-30 yr old me could iron-lung the fuck out of a blunt. Even smoked a honey-blunt a few times, those bitches burn for over an hour! Mid-40 yr old me?? --not so much :ROFLMAO: but I'm still the bong-rip champ in at least three states 🤘

Yeah it's been a LONG TIME since I smoked a blunt, I thought I'd treat myself. My bong has an ice catcher and I fill it with cold water, I find that helps with the smoke being less harsh which equals less coughing fits.

Treat yourself and body as you do your plants

This is what growing cannabis has taught me

What if I feed my plants known poison
Definitely.

I understand the brain is like a sponge, you absorb what you put into it.

That's one of the reasons I got rid of social media like Facebook.. Too much time spent on social media is toxic, at least to me it is. No drama, more privacy, I focus more on myself and what I'm doing instead of comparing myself to what others are doing.

I forgot to add something:

When you smoke, tell yourself how much you hate it, even if you love it. The human brain is a pretty amazing thing, and we can reprogram ourselves to do stuff sometimes. It won't be fast or overnight, but, if you can think to yourself how much you HATE the smoke, even if you deep down like it, eventually you'll associate with that, and it'll be easier to quit.

Still vaping Elf bars but have noticed an improvement in lung health since quitting the sticks. With enough tree I can essentially stop almost entirely. Something like a 20 year cig smoker.

Not sure if it helps the urge or not, but I take niacin for ear damage, which I think has nicotine involved, and I love me some tomatoes, which do have a concentration of nic in them

That's more along the lines of what I'm thinking, to switch to vaping. The last thing I want to do is jack my tolerance up but if it happens so what? I get my hash related products dirt cheap anyway. Plus I may give up smoking the flower all together and start turning all my harvests into bubble hash.

Here's the OTHER thing nobody really talks about: "I'll be saving 'x' amount of money every month" ----- NO YOU WON'T. Every hobby or habit you quit, that money IMMEDIATELY just gets absorbed into the rest of your life. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Take weed, for instance; we used to spend about 300/mo and that's pretty substantial since we're not exactly wealthy 🤷🏻‍♂️. Welp, now that I grow and don't buy, AND I've been growing long enough all my equipment is paid-back so to speak, we still don't have an extra 300 every month, lol!

I try to stay away from pharmaceuticals as much as I can, it seems like everything they ever pressed into a pill ends up being a lawsuit. I've kicked around trying the Lifecycle thing that tracks your smoking for a week and then starts counting you down, weaning you off them. They also have created phone apps that do the same thing for free.

I discovered bulk tobacco and tubes a few years ago which made it a more affordable habit, if I was buying packs economics would have forced me to quit. I hate wanting a cigarette, I like having a cigarette. Pretty sure I'm enslaved lol.
