Dude.... I will talk about some goddamned merino wool LET ME TELL YOU... darn tough socks? Ibex soft shell? I'm wearing a 50% merino Kuhl long sleeve right now. Not even just merino. I scour thrift shops for wool Flannel...my favorite hat is a 1980s wool snap back from my grandfather

Synthetics are for suckers who wanna smell bad
So i got into Merino about two years ago. Shit is expensive so I only really get it when I find good deals. I'm currently wearing a Smartwool 200 gram long sleeve Tee and I love it. It's held up about 50 washes so far and doing great. I always hang dry them on a chair.
My favorite is the 150 or so gram t-shirts from Smartwool. My god are they good.
A sleeper brand of Merino blend socks are Stoic, can be found for around $4 per pair. They are hard to find in boot cut height but the mid cuts work great and are ultra inexpensive. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on some Darn Tough, I believe the hype.
All I wear is minus 33 and smart wool tops . Wool is the best
Haven't tried Minus 33 but I have noticed they are legit through reading some backcountry forums and posts on reddit. Any specific model # of an article of clothing you would recommend?
Ridge merino is all I buy.

On the knife side ill share this guys stuff..Krudo...sick..
My shihan purchased this blade, and we trained with the controllers...had to add to the collection with the quick deployment holster..to this day..never carried it...

I like hammers too! Not edc of coarse.

Brooooo. You pulled out the hammers , I fucking love it. What's the backstory on them? I'm assuming you're in your mancave there in the garage? Hammers ready to rock.

What's the story on the Ridge Merino? I just looked at their website and they look great, priced accordingly, do you buy directly from them or from other outfitters? Any sales to look out for?

You recommend that Thrunite? I'd imagine so if you carry it out of a big lineup of other flashlights... Do you by chance live in Alaska or northern Canada?
North enough. :) That and spending thousands of hours working in confined spaces mean I am NEVER without a light. Actually the holy trinity of light, fire source, and sharp thing are always on my person or within reach.

I've had both of those lights for a few years now and they've held up well.
There are so many retailers trying to access the EDC market, I've become completely out of touch with current tech and manufacturers though.
I've had decent luck with Fenix products too, but again, it's been a while.

A million years ago I used to stay informed on PC tech before realizing most of it would come and go in the few years between my purchases. Nowadays, for any tech or quickly evolving product, I'm generally not current unless I'm in the market for something.
------------------

Re Leatherman MT's, I started carrying one around 20 years ago. I'd seen they were handy on the job, but the incident that made me buy one was an eye opener.
We were building a massive project, the Scotford Upgrader if you follow that sort of thing, and at the time I was on a crew that was primarily stationed in a huge material and component lay-down area. At the end of the shift, we had to go through a couple gates and cross a major access road for the project to get to the lunch and coverall trailers and time gates.

The dick in charge of locking those gates tended to not care if he locked them early, stranding anyone in the lay-down. This was a big deal. There were over 8,000 workers on site at the time and most rode buses to site. If you missed your bus you were stranded an hour from the city and with so many people, nobody noticed if 10 or 20 didn't show up to go home.

We'd always managed to contact our foreman or flag someone down or somehow make the buses when the gate was locked, but one day it was clear we were screwed.
My partner pulled out his LM and in about a minute he'd cut us a door through the chain link fence. Across the road, another DIY door and we hauled ass back to get signed out and go home. (y)(y)(y)

Pretty sure I bought my first Leatherman on the next cheque and it became work EDC. Lots of sites didn't allow unapproved knives on site, but it didn't matter. Fucked if I was going to miss the bus. :devilish:
I must have 6 or 8 or more now.

Holy shit man that's a crazy story. I'm not familiar with the SU project but did a Google search to get a readup on it. That's really cool that he managed to get you guys out of there with his LM. Freakin lucky.

So give me your concluder on a MT.

I usually buy from their online store. Though there are places that run deals, just have to be looking. I usually buy right before spring for that years season if needed. Most have lasted a few years. Hammers.. I been studying budo for about 12 years now, currently hold the rank of sandan. The hammers are called ōtsuchi, about 35 lb each. The teach you how to move with large tools. The power of these tools is crazy. We do not train on mats or anything, but on uneven ground, cement, or someplace similar to where an encounter would happen. Here it was the winter (snowing/icy), or raining... so in a garage :)

Man, please do.... theres nothing like them... I actually wear a lot of stoic and smart wool as well but darn tough smokes them. If they weren't so expensive they would be the only sock I owned. I've worn a single pair for days in the back country and they feel fresh every morning... I just wore through a pair... it was 15 yrs old. They'd replace em if I sent them in, but I feel like they earned their money haha

My thoughts are that Leatherman used to specialize in one great product. Then they put out a few well thought out and designed specialty models.

Now they churn out new shit every other week designed to separate people from money. Folding knives, fucking bracelets, and who knows what.

It's like Rapala. They used to only make crankbaits and they were quality. Now the Rapala name is on everything from knives to ice fishing tents to electronics and most of it is mediocre at best.

Don't get me started on Helly Hansen.

Their supertool 200 isn't very different from their new designs . IMHO look at the wave it's perfection. Man do I ever agree about rapala . Cheap too now

Not sure what everyone likes to smoke out of but I want to share another budget find.

**If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm kind of a thrifty mofo when it comes to deals**

... Lets talk flower for a second...

What sucks more than cleaning a glass pipe???

Answer: Not too much because it kind of sucks

Here is where I plug buying a 5-pack of borosilicate glass 2-hitters. You can call them one hitters but you will need to take a big rip.

5-pack for $8.

I've been rotating these bad boys around for a little over a month and I'm picking up more. The 3'' version allows you to simply use a q-tip to clean. The 4'' versions are harder to clean.

These are great 'tester' pipes, especially if you want to pack a hit or two of each pheno of a plant to try out. My goofy ass highly recommends these. Actually picking up a few more packs as gifts.

3'' Glass tube 10mm OD 1.5mm thick wall tubing, 5-pack

is that a tab of acid for scale?
Nope, just the little watermark I add on my pics:rastajoint:. If you look at my journal there is one in every photo.

Thanks :), that Wave is absolutely beat to hell. You can see the broken blade tip. The wire cutters on the pliers are trashed and it has been dropped in nearly every nasty thing you can find on an industrial construction site. Still solid though, no wiggle anywhere and the sheath has held up amazingly well. If the wire cutters were replaceable like on the newer ones I'd do it in a second, since right now it won't get me through the fence and to the bus home. ;)

Pretty sure it saw more use than any other tool I've ever owned, but now it's mostly a souvenir of many, many experiences.

Ricky's shank shack and trophy room.:stoned: Where we hang thighs and sharpen knives...hide your wives.
Where better for discussions like these than the Trailer Park?

I like the pliers on the gerber better than the leatherman, one handed operation and the pivot seems more durable. Its been a long minute since I carried one and IDK what they are like since merging with fiskars but I have a gerber felling axe and a fiskars splitting axe and they both seem high quality.

Love the one hand Gerber's myself. Use one for fishing as it's quick and easy
