I'm planning to use the aluna in one of the t/w crosses I'm wanting to call it dos equis after the mexican beer because of the Brazilian red heritage lol because of my limited room I'm gonna have to learn how to collect , store & apply pollen none of my last chucks took it's been about 8 years since I've done any chucking & I'm way out of touch

Yeah, I've had super mixed results with my chuck attempts so far. The GMO branch I hit with the GMO pollen is absolutely loaded.... the Hippy Slayer branch I hit with the same pollen, at the same time, using the same method, barely took. I'm gonna be fortunate to get a dozen seeds from it. Definitely need to work on my methodology.

Excited to see you work your magic with that Aluna though, it's some wonderful smoke and would make a killer cross with the TW! Love the name too, I've been known to drink a couple Dos Equis lagers on a hot summer weekend... (a couple dozen may be more accurate...)

I'm gonna try hitting them a bit later in the flowering cycle next time

I understand your chuck wasnt really planned but more hairs =more pollenation to take place. I usually hit em about 3 weeks into flower when they have a lot of white hairs present and the hormones are high, but theres still 5 weeks time left for the pollen that took to fully ripen.

It may not be your method. Sometimes some plants just dont cooperate whether it be the male or the recipient....or both.

Took this Chem91 x Schwaggy's Afghan Skunk down today... found a handful of seeds buried in her, searched the whole tent and found no signs of a hermie anywhere, and none of the other girls seem to have any beans, so my best guess is I accidentally got some of the GMO pollen on her... there aren't many so I'm not too upset, and they look nice and fully developed so if they're viable I'm gonna grow em! Otherwise she's frosty, chunky and smells like sour, lemony gas (this is one of the two not sweet smelling plants, the sweet one has the furthest to go still). Nice yield for a little plant too, probably gonna be about 3 zips out of a half gallon of coco

@Phylex these are my two favorite Kokusho phenos....

This one is #3, it's a short bush cover in thumb size nugs. It's very unique smelling, earth and potpourri and compost

This one, #2 smells like a Sour taffy thing I vaguely remember from the 90s, which isn't very descriptive but I don't know how to explain it. It's gonna be the best yielder and the frostiest. Also some nice purples coming through

Is she skunky? Any hopes of it bulking up? That kokusha #2 looks delicious

She's definitely Skunky. Not like roadkill Skunk but still eye watering acrid. As for bulking up, I sure hope so. There's still plenty of time but the bud structure looks like she may be a light yielder. But it's also been kind of cold down there and the extra light I added already seems to be making a difference so I may just need to dial her in a bit better. Another run is definitely coming up.

I'm really intrigued to hear how Kokusho finishes and curious to see if #2 rises to the top. "Heaviest Yielder" and "Frostiest" are two nice bonus boxes to already have checked. If she backs it up with the best effect too, you'll have a real nice winner there. Your assessments really make me wish I had more space and time to run a dedicated hunt through those genetics. I'm looking forward to the day I can. I'm just guessing here, but I think there's about 60 or so seeds still left to hunt through. They certainly sound like they're worth some project time in the future.

Yeah, #2 has some serious potential... if the smoke test matches the eye test she'll hang around for a bit. Time and space are always the limiting factor man, I have so much to grow, so many chucks I want to make, but never enough time or space lol

@horribleherk thanks man! All credit too the breeders, it's amazing I can grow anything. I just finished switching the 3x3 over to a veg tent, trimmed up all the ugly yellow stuff off the vegging plants that have been in their little 4x4 pots for way too long....it was a mess lol. But hoping thins turn around now that they have the HID on them.

Lots happening right now. A whole bunch of plants are all finishing at once, gonna be chopping as drying space allows.

All three Chem91 x SAS are down now. I chopped both autos a few weeks ago actually and they went into jars. The Nurple is a really nice smoke but Im still done with autos for a while (unless it's for that Twenty20 thing). Banana OG is hanging.

Kokusho #1 is also down and hanging. The other two are close as well. Gelato 45 x Cherry Sunshine is really close. Both Hazlenut Creams are close.

Lot of trimming in my future.

And with all of this progress I've found myself with an empty seedling tray. And as you may have noticed, that's completely unacceptable in this Gentleman's garden. Gonna drop some beans tonight, just not sure what yet. 20210110_161734.jpg

I should probably take this opportunity to clean the tray I suppose...
