The .Smoke Shack

It's always a learning process...
At lights out last night, my veg tent looked like complete crap. Everyone was drooping and sad looking.
I finally got the hint my plants had been giving me this whole time...
I realized when I started my seeds under the CMH and they didn't do well, it was because the light was too intense.
I kept trying to keep the lights around the same Lux level regardless of it being MH/CMH/HPS.
That was a huge mistake.

I switched veg back to my 315 cmh because I realized there was no need for 400w hps.
I normally veg around 35k-40k lux with MH.
The OG Kush is @ maximum of 26k and the rest are loving life @ 11k under the cmh.

Needless to say I'm shocked at the difference spectrum and bulb type makes.
Happy to learn something new and save just a little more on the electric bill. :dancingchicken:

White Widow 1 is starting to show signs of maturing so I turned up the heat on the uvb a bit.

One of the benefits of not cramming the tent and having a sufficient amount of light means I can get away with doing stupid things like hanging a 2" t5 right under a bulb and still get 600 PAR @ the canopy directly under the shadow.

She seems to be working her magic pretty well. Still a long way to go though...

The OG Kush looks like she wants to throw pistils any day now.

I love growing hempy, but I've never been happy with a process for germination for it yet. I don't like the paper towel method, or the idea of starting in rockwool or any other material that would be added to the final pots.

Normally I just soak the seeds in water until the taproot pops and then put them in their buckets.
Now that I'm using a lot more 10gal buckets, I don't have much extra media to go around.

So I decided to give hempy cups a try.
Pretty much the same concept as the buckets, just a solo cup filled with perlite/vermiculite with a hole drilled a few inches up one side for drainage.

A spare 6" clear saucer should work well enough for a humidity dome until the seed breaks ground.

I have a fem MK Ultra in there. If this works, she'll go in one of my taller 4 gallon buckets...

I figured I'll save the short 10gal totes for the large strains and run compact/avg size strains in the taller 4's to try and keep the canopy a bit more even.

It's gotten to the point where I finally realize I'm going to need 2 different reservoirs of feed for the flower tent.
One for weeks 3-5 or 6, and the other for finishing. (Higher K lower N ratios).
Instead of gutting my systems I took a look around and threw together a few parts I had.

I'm keeping the 30gal brute/floraflex rez's for flower and made a 20gal rez for the veg tent using a 27gal heavy duty tote, 400gph pump, a few pvc fittings and an 8 port manifold.

RO water, Calimagic and 1 part Megacrop for this little guy.

Veg tent is full.

I moved the Zkittlez Glue to a 4gal bucket and put the best of the two GDP clones in a 10gal.

Probably a little premature, but I'm hoping the roots take hold.

The OG Kush is starting to stretch and the Blue Dream will be @ 4 weeks in a couple days so they both are more than likely moving to the flower tent soon.

Impatience got the best of me.
The Blue Dream and OG Kush got moved to the flower tent. Nice to see it filling up.
All side lighting is gone. Both hoods running 1000w. If the GDP gets any taller I'm going to have to take the magnum hood off its ropes and mount it directly to the bar.
I really wish my ceilings were 4" taller so I could use my roof extension...

White Widow #2 and the GDP in a 4'x4' :)

Veg tent now has some room for the original glue once it gets here mid month. I may end up taking a couple cuttings from the blue dream also in a week or so. The Gelato is next on deck to move to flower.

My Hanna EC meter up and quit on me a week ago. I decided to be cheap and bought 2-$15 meters off Amazon.
One read 350ppm the other 220ppm :(
Screw that.

Gonna look real nice right next to my PC-20. Looks like I'm an Apera kinda guy :)

Hey brother, I've spent the last half hour catching up on your journal. Very cool grow. I believe I have the same PH meter (if it's the $80 model with the replaceable probe). I've had mine for two years, and at about the one year mark I had to replace the probe. Just keep that in mind in case you start seeing some funky readings down the road. Overall a solid and accurate pen, just make sure to double calibrate it once a month.

It's crazy the difference 24hrs can make in a tent when things are getting harvested and flipped.
20200929_003834.jpg
I had to go ahead and move the xxxl hood off the ratchet ropes and mount it directly to the bar.
Which I wouldn't recommend doing by yourself if you're the 5'10", 150lbs guy who dropped $290 on a 30lbs metal/glass reflector that is precariously half hanging over your ladies...
It was "fun".
20200929_003852.jpg
But it got my Lux down from 62k to a nice sweet 37k @ the GDP
20200929_004033.jpg
Which is good because I was being to get some tacoing up top.
20200929_003909.jpg
And I'm even able to get great coverage down to the Blue Dream @ 21k
20200929_004107.jpg
I expect she'll shoot up quickly and move over to the "tall section" with the GDP in a few weeks.
For reference, that's a 32" tower fan beside good ol' Granddaddy.

Couldn't help myself.
I had some bitcoins burning a hole in my pocket so I hit up Attitude to see what they had.
Ordered some Green Crack from Garden of Green and Chemdog Gorilla from Expert seeds.

With the breeder freebies (+3 seeds each of what was ordered and 8 Glueberry + 8 Girl Scout Cookies) along with the freebies for spending over $100 and paying with Bitcoin, I managed to score 42 seeds with a pretty decent variety for about $125.
Some of the freebies look nice.
