Yall have a bunch of good finds! Been mostly thrifting for books these days - most valuable stuff seems elusive these days. Used to look mainly for old video games but that stuff has dried up bigtime. I'll have to keep an eye on kitchenware - definitely some kitchen upgrades I could use.
Yeah, the internet really made it hard to find good value in collectibles. People can just Google "what is this worth" now lol. I used to score all kinds of great comics and magic cards on eBay or dope books at yard sales buyung lots and collections. Everything is picked over now.

This isnt worth much as far as I know but its one of my favorite book finds, first edition from 1926. Paid $1 for it.

I improvised KN03 with Grants "stump remover". Ran that mix in my aquarium for years.
Used to make gunpowder and smoke bombs w KNO3 (aka Saltpeter). Had I known it was in stump remover I would’ve made a bunch more lol. A soda can 50/50 KNO3 and sugar would cover a whole block w thick smoke. Melt the aluminum can w a pretty bright green flame. At the time I used one of the university library’s computers to go onto the non-graphical web and ordered some lab grade. Guy said, “what do you want it for?” I said, “meat tenderizer for a bovine class, how much can I get?” He said, “you can get a coffee can for $5 or a 55 gal drum for more but we can talk price.” Try doing that shit now you’ll have ATF and FBI stepping over each other knocking on your door ?

Yeah absolutely. I used to find tons of great game stuff on craigslist too.. was so much better than FB marketplace. CL is pretty dead here now. Used to do well with old cameras, graphing calculators too haha.
Nice! Cool to find old first editions! I mainly just look for stuff I'm gonna read - classics, fantasy, sci fi, etc. 1$ a book makes it easy to grab a bunch! Saves a lot too compared to buying new.

Homie from down the block told me he was clearing out some houses and I told em grab me any cast iron he finds. He just rolled down with a few decent pieces.

A decent lodge

A brand new food network cast, that does actually kinda have a cool shape/feel

I am pretty happy about the square one. The others are nice too. All it cost me was a freezer bag full of sifted trim.

Now my “ to clean “ pile is getting heavy. About time to make myself a dunk tank

No cast iron today, but found a couple things I wanted

Kitchen scale no brainer for 2 bucks

Vintage Rebel lures tackle box. I love my rebel crank baits and I will be adding them all to this box now.

And this old Ensenada acoustic for $29 bucks. I been needing a guitar for the boat/fireside etc, and I think this will do just great. It’s a solid old piece and I love thinking of the music it’s played

I try to hit up thrift stores every few weeks. I usually score old toys. Then flip them.

Latest score was a mid 60's metal tonka dump truck. Paid 3.50, sold for 25.00
That's awesome. I was eavesdropping to a couple fellas rifling through the little bags of children's toys hanging from the pegboard wall. They said they find some gems, and I started to think maybe I'm sleeping on that section. I don't resell though, I'm mostly just a hoarder of things I like.

Make sure you always check out the book section. A buddy found an old book, flipped it for 2k a few weeks later. Also look at the paintings/art work. But more of the time the workers snatch up the good/valuable items.

Tuesdays they put the new stuff out..the majority of the time.

My girlfriend’s friend gave us this old RCA record player that’s kinda neat. Idk if it’s worth the effort to restore it, but I may attempt to. Tubes light up, sound comes out…. Smells like a fire hazard
Very cool! We had a magnavox one for a bit, had to let it go though as it wasn't exactly space efficient ha. Cool vibe and all but something that big with not much storage usage (just fit some jars haha). Would have kept if our house was bigger but with small houses storage is important!

That is all I can think about looking at this thing in staging, in our living room. We have absolutely no space for this, and now I know why the girl gave it to us. I don't necessarily feel like carrying it down to the basement to collect dust....it may just end up at the thrift that I frequent. Still up for debate. My bluetooth stereo and audio technica turn table take up 1/8th of the space and sound better.

Holy cow a 2k thrift come up is awesome. I have dreams where I pull thousands of old cash out of a suit pocket while thrifting...still ain't found the right suit yet.

Yup that's where we ended up, I think we gave it away using a buynothing group, so at least it went to some cool folks. Yeah hard to compete with a quality turntable - the built in ones aren't great quality and some can actually damage vinyl.
