Yes, it is expensive...but when you a farm...you get tax breaks etc...that make it affordable to buy farm equipment.
This new flail will be for work though....I'm sure it will be used around the farm too.
Unfortunately my land is not "agriculturally viable", the value in maintaining it in a manner consistent with a prehistoric fire evolved ecology is not realized by the public until it's on fire. So I get no tax break.

I been drinkin' so know you're good 18b.

This little character sitting out the front of my work accommodation greeting me on arrival after shift ( Australian Magpie) . These birds are so clever . They can store in the memory up to 27 different individuals faces and know if your kind to them or a threat by how you treat them in their territory and respond to you accordingly. They also pass on this face recognition knowledge to offspring so the chicks before they even hatch know your face .
Ive treated him kindly and he’s still crapped all over my porch so I’ll have to lift my game a bit . B39EC38F-643D-44EA-A269-85C3F0C87F13.jpeg

Business meeting wrapped up, having a smoke and a quick read on pH before I get my ass off to the jobsite.
So happy its Friday, and there's no going having to go to work tomorrow.

I'd say one of my favorite times of day is in the morning, cup of coffee in hand, and a nice bowl to start the day.

Off to the grind, ya'll have a friggin wonderful day out there.

The more I learn about corvids the more fascinated I am. They are so smart and inventive. I generally try to maintain a good relationship with any in my vicinity.

The ravens up around the Fort McMurray oilsands get huge, and there are thousands. I've had one land on a garbage can only a few feet away from me and it was the size of a large hawk. It showed zero fear of the 30+ humans within a small radius of it.

If you aren't careful they can do huge damage.
I was told about a nasty way to fuck with someone via Ft Mac raven. Jam a loaf of bread in between the cab and box of a pickup. The ravens will claw the hell out of the paint and shit all over while trying to get all the bread out.

my perfect morning is waking up early, like normal, but just getting to relax on the couch, with a big fresh french press, the dogs on either side of me, and just catching up on here or doing some reading about whatever I may be working on. maybe playing some video games. just putz and relax. Then like 830, get ready and get my ass to the hill to do some snowboarding.

Catching up on some PH threads and feeding my Mourning Geckos. It's insect day. Wondering if they take to aphids?

@Ramjet159 you sure you didn't do anything to his family and they passed the word lol. You can see the disrespect he has for you in the pose.
? it’s possible . They’re the mascot of a football team I hate so maybe he sensed it . They look at you with contempt more often than not

That’s warm for you guys isn’t it ?
Us icefishermen have been wanting a bit of this to thicken up the ice. A lot of the big lakes are still open.

This is only cold to me because it's the first time it's gotten below -20 this year. By Xmas it will seem normal. :)

I've fished in -35 and worked outside in sub-minus 40. It ain't always fun, but it weeds out the wimps. ;)

I can’t even begin to think what -40 feels like although I’ve worked in a few snap drive into freezers so maybe it’s kind of similar . It’s incredible to think most wildlife survives through that . I haven’t even seen snow before ??‍♂️
25-28C is a nice temp for me , I’m not keen on those cranking hot days anymore as I just burn . I’ve spent most of my life working outdoors protecting myself from UV so I’m kind of over the whole exposure bit .
I will one day though visit your shores ?

I've worked inside coal burning boilers during shutdowns, up at the top where it was pushing +40C.
I've worked inside cokers being heat-treated at Syncrude, where we worked 2 hours in and 2 out, and I would melt an ice vest every two hour stretch.

You can add layers when it is cold, but you can't take off any of the gear when it is hot. I honestly prefer -40C to +40C for working. Lesser of two evils, IMO.

I much prefer retirement. :carlton:
