Hey 12/12 gang!
Just a random ?
has anyone tried to grow your stuff outdoors from seed in a 12/12 type enviro?

I Have always been interested in 12/12 from seed but i never got around to trying it indoors. But thats pretty much my sunlight schedule outdoors year round out here.

just curious bc genetics that could go outdoors from start, in theory, would have me skipping the whole veg tent part and that seems too easy to be a reality! It would be a whole new world 😂 my fam would rejoice not hearing tent zippers at weird hours lol

Keep doing what yal do! I love seeing people doing their own thing and i will enjoy following along 🤙🏽

Hey! Yes, we have had some growers run our gear outdoors and in non 12/12 light cycle scenarios with great results. They behave like any outdoor plant would in a natural outdoor light cycle. Our breeding/selection process is focused on phenotypes/strains that thrive and perform well in the 12/12 light cycle. As a bonus they do well with the conventional photo periods or outdoors! The 12/12 light cycle is key for the reduced grow cycle compared to conventional light cycles.

Hello there,
I have done late starts before, for example: starting seeds outdoors in August to be ready for harvest in late October. It's going to depend on lots of other factors but we haven't done much testing any of our strains outdoors, I suspect most of our strains would perform well like this but would expect them to be much shorter than your average outdoor plant with veg time.

Thanks for the info. I can see why breeding under 12/12 could keep flower time locked more in the shorter timeframe. I guess i was hoping it could also adapt a plant to do more with less (light hours in this case). A funny analogy would be like a plant with good cardio. Like it could push all day without too much light/energy and/or too much rest hours. When i throw seeds outdoors most of them just grow so slow after sprout phase that they dont stand a chance against other elements outdoors.

To be honest i veg indoors under 24hr light. Kick them outside to flower in 12/12 with no light hour acclimation, like a mean dude!
(Sometimes they have a shady spot first couple days)
Most plants switch real quick. Some get stuck and very slowly adjust. Others keep vegging and live a longer life. The ones that veg outside still were the ones i assumed were good 12/12 candidates but now i fear i have it all backwards🤣 i am sure it all depends on yr end goal and selections made. Many ways to go

Thanks for discussing. i am guilty of thinking out loud sometimes. Dont always articulate a real deal question 🤓

Interesting opportunity to pollenate with AGs NL#2 and possibly Original Haze with Cuban Black Haze, Gary Payton and some Midnight Mass phenos.

Cuban Black Haze - Based on previous grows and lessons learned the plan is to run the lights at 55% power to keep the temps low. Epic boat loads of grow nutrient and keeping them as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

Original Haze - Starting to take off and call me crazy but it is looking like all females. Nuts could pop out late as these are slow growers at the moment. Beautiful long leaves with some noticeable pheno variation. Pic is of the two that are growing the fastest. Expecting some long flower times with these.

Midnight Mass #1 - Looking like Harlem Dreams leaner if I was a betting man. The other one is more than likely Black Haze leaner.

NL5 looks quite nice, structure, density, trich coverage, leaf ratio, yield, flower time, its an all around visually pleasing package. You can see shes loaded up with seeds, a sturdy NL5 male from the same pack was used. This is one of the 'sweat and body odor' expressions, still drying/curing and too early to sample.

smells across different ladies range from body odor, sweat and chemicals, to nag champa incense and berry fruit, though all of them seemed to have the incense terps early on and branched off from there.

needed support at end of flower for me, this one i'll probably harvest next weekend. Smoke report will follow, a handful of other exciting crosses we're made with the NL5 male so if you are interested we may have a few to share.

An AG Original Haze male was selected for its absurd Piff terps deep it stem rub this time around. I can feel safe to say it was a haze leaner in its lineage. All strain below got skeeted on.

The Cuban Black Haze cross will be a top priority for exploration and potentially working to make a killer haze in seed form. I suspect these two strains share common genetics so the merging could be something really amazing.

Gary Payton - Would be one hell of a cross to explore

Original Haze Female #1 - every pheno from this strain has been ever so loud in the stem rub. Hazy and the tropical central American terps just blast through. Cantwait to see what the trichs will do.

Cuban Black Haze - Based on lessons learned she needs lower temps at all costs. Dialed it in with 50-55% light power and she has never been happier or frostier. An absolute forest right now (right side of photo). I think its one of my best grows to date. She loves grow nutrient and will take all you can give her. 1300-1500 PMM is as far as I need to go with nutes. Generally 1300 is the sweet spot and I let her drink down to 1500. I would say a 3:1 ratio of Grow/Bloom is gold.

With the 2x4 tent free the plan this time is to explore a pretty interesting landrace hybrid we made a while back. We got some test data from @Gentlemancorpse who ran this a little while ago. Thanks Corpse! The mother used was a South African Kwazulu. A really interesting fast flowering Sativa landrace. The father was an F1 Squirter which is an F1 we made from an earlier Redbag F3 line (lots of Magic in that F3 stock) and a Squirt from Humbolt Seed company. So there is definitely some citrus and modern Fuel/Diesel genetics running around in there.

The extra fun part is I will be tossing a Dutch Passion Cali-O fem and a Gary Payton clone in as well for unique F1s and to take the Landrace Hybrid to the F2 stage. More to Come!

Exploration time! One of our breeding methods at 12/12 Seed Company is to breed Landraces with more modern strains. This is how Dirt Stick came into existence as an example. Based on some feedback from South African Kwazulu testers I will be giving this one a look and dust up two other well known strains with it. A male was used from one of our own creations to dust up a unique South African Kwazulu female. The flower times on the Kwazulu side were absurdly fast for a landrace sativa and was very resinous. The paternal side was also fast flowering due to the Squirt influence. Working title of the strain is going to be Squirt Sak. Of course we have a Gary Payton clone for pollination and a Cali-O fem. Considering that the Squirt Sak has a ton of citrus genetics the Cali-) seems like a perfect candidate. Plus the 4x4 just got going on an entire run of elite clones to dust up as well.

Father: Squirter - Cackleberry Male x HSC - Squirt female

Mother: South African Kwazulu. Here is a shot of the mother used

A current snapshot of the 2x4 before some clean up. I have to say that the growth of the Squirt Sak is really impressive. Tall Plant on right is Gary and front right is Cali-0. So far 2 males with two different stem rubs. I expect these to have some incredibly fast flower times.

Squirt Sak update. A male has been selected for its terp profile. That being very orange/citrus. Other males had more of a skunky funk mixed in with citrus. The focus of Squirt Sak
is definitely to go to the citrus side side of the force. This has an added benefit to dust up Cali-O fem. So far across all Squirt Sak males/females the structure has been incredibly uniform. Which is God Damn lovely. Interestingly they all look somewhat unlike either parent which reminds me a lot of Dirt Stick in its early years. Was nothing like either parent dominantly but something unique and all its own. I find that crossing landraces with modern strains has a really high chance of making that happen.

I have some testers if anyone is interested. These will be a long flower Haze and Sativa leaning.

This winter I ran AG's Original Haze and used a male with a particularly strong "piff" terp profile and dusted up a Cuban Black Haze momma. I wont be able to run these seeds until the following winter. If anyone is looking for something hazey we have enough to send out a pack or two of testers.

Squirt Sack update - Really enjoying this. Of the two females one is stooopid loud with citrus/rind like terp with a mix of the Kwazulu mom but its not quite like either parent. Definitely the breeder going forward. The other female is basically Kwazulu software on Squirter hardware. Structure is beefed up by the Squirter male but retains a lot of the Kwazulu mom with a noticeable low end citrus. Ultimately the smoke test is going to decide if we take this further down the Filial line. Given how loud the Squirt leaner is I would say flavor has to be there. Plenty of seeds to hand out some testers.

Very frosty and dense Chunky buds with really thick hairs!

Now for the real porn. Gary Payton...nuff said lol. Got dusted up with the Squirter male because It had to be done.
