I debated where to put this thread since there will be a little indoor too but the outdoor section needed populating & I am mostly an outdoor guy.

SoCal climate offers opportunities to play with nature’s photo period. Yields are not huge but sure is fun to have outdoor going in the middle of winter.

These were started indoors & kicked out after a month of veg. They have been outside in February for about 2 weeks, at this latitude we were about 10.5 hours of daylight with days lengthening when placed outdoors, they start to flower pretty quick.

They are mostly Afpak x DLA5 from @Rosinallday. I did this same thing last year with that strain & it did well. Plant on the far right is a BOO from @Useful. She did not go out until last week, her eviction was unplanned, no room in the tent. There are still 5 fems indoors,

Temps have been mostly 65-40 F got down to 35 one day. It is raining today.

So what to expect? I am a month late this year so it will be interesting for me too, they tend to finish & start revegging around the solisitices, I am probably too late this year for the spring equinox but we will see.

Good to see you BB. Glad to see you've found a spot and are setting up shop. Always love seeing a nicely set up outdoor garden. It's becoming somewhat of a lost art it seems, and you have skills in both indoor and outdoor. Very interesting on the weather, gonna watch and see how it all plays out. I love learning about this type of stuff :)

Yo man. Good to see ya.

I'm here...once again.....living vicariously through you until "Summer" finally makes an appearance here. Lookin good.

I have a couple of BOO going in the tent. First run with it. Crazy damn smells....... will probably run one outside and see WTF happens.....

Definitely some fat fans in that mix! Will be interesting to see how Mom Nature treats ya this season....

Hey Stiicky!

So your BOOs are smelling great? I need to get through your thread. I don't know if you remember the BOO I ran outdoors last year, she checked every box for me EXCEPT zero smell. She had the frost & is still a great smoke but no aroma. Dang. Everybody else raves about it, must have just been my luck with that pheno. Had to give it another go. I want oranges. 3 more going inside. Gotta be sure this time.

I do these off season experiments for fun, not really for the yield. Often these spring finishers can get too leafy as they prepare to reveg. Had a couple great ones last year tho, that was a tough winter here. Still makes some great hash, something about plants that have survived a rough upbringing. Gives them character.

Thanks for stopping in, not a lot of outdoor guys around these days.

Thanks @spyralout. I am lucky to have a climate that works for the outdoor nearly year round, but I would love to have more indoor space too. Currently only running a 2 x 4 tent but I like the indoor grow more than I expected, may have to expand on that. I really don’t need the weed, it’s the grow that is the fun.

Smoking the results is pretty good too. :D

Major orange terps on these 2 BOO here. Fairly compact plants with tight node spacing. One of em was super thick and needed some major defoliation. It was like a solid little bush of leaves...with buds trying to pop underneath. LOL. The taller one is a bit more frosty but the thick gal is bulking up after kinda takin her time to get her groove on...so we will see.

No shit...gonna have to start leaving random 1 oz jars of bud on the sidewalk in town just to move some along to make room for more......:LOL::LOL:

And here I've been looking in the journals section for your grow. Happy I came across it here.
Good stuff. Looking forward to watching what you get growing on there.

I too grow for the love of it. Way more than I need and no market for it. Lmfao.
I used to do outdoors stuff, but moved indoors after getting tired of the climate issues here at the end. Was always the early snows, freezes etc and a big pain to let em finish up.
I do miss the free grow light of outdoors though.
2k of lights costs $. Lmfao

Thanks for stopping by @JL2G. A lot easier to type your new abbreviated handle.

Here I am hiding the thread in plain sight in the outdoor section. The outdoor section was too empty. Outdoor growing is a dying thing, I get it, hard to grow outdoors when there is snow on the ground. OTOH it sure is nice to hang out with the plants in the garden, I spend way too much time communing in the garden, a cup of coffee at sunrise, that is where I go. Electricity costs cant’t be beat either.

I don’t grow it to sell it, not much market here these days anyway. I give lots away & sometimes trade out hash I make. That is how I got the tent I have now, I would not have chosen the light but it is what they had. The tent has been more fun that expected.

Still love the grow, this off-season stuff is really fun for me, experimenting. The weather is all over the place but they are surprisingly resilient.

This pic is from last spring’s experiment, one of Bodhi’s DLA5 F2’d by our friend @Rosinallday. It is dated March 2 so finished around the spring equinox. I was late this year. Expecting summer equinox.

Funny that you said that, I thought it was a bit much to type as well. Lol.
I do alot of the same with giving it away. It does save on a lot of gift buying for certain friends and family. Lol.
I've found inside I have alot more fun with it. With the control, and I can dictate the timing enviro etc.
Let's me do more with them. Lol.

Those Bodhi dla5 f2's, I think I may have some of the same ones. Lol. A recent trade I did for some things. Was curious how they did for you, and anything special to pay attention, and or watch out for with them.

Welcome @Baja.Beaches -you already know youre in good company here.
I grew a handfull of the BOO back when they were testers. I got 2 different phenos:
-green pheno (remained green after week 6 of flower) that had an out of this world strong orange zest. These were the terp producers if you are looking for an orange blast.
-black pheno (the leaves turned damn near black about week 6+) that still had great orange terps, but not nearly as strong as the "green pheno".
I cant help but think you just hit the "lottery" of BOO plants that wasnt a strong orange on & off the plant. Every one I have run was well into "citrusy" territory, some just much more than others. Feeling confident though that you will get the terps your looking for on this this indoor run of them.

I have run DLA5’s 3 times now, outside & in. They are outstanding, @Rosinallday did a good job selecting for that. Tough too, the winter grow outside took a serious beating, hail, wind, frost, rain…wet for weeks at a time with no mold. Excellent. Strong enough to be an easy grow. You will like them.

Thanks for the feedback. ?
Probably gonna have to work em into the rotation here pretty soon then. Lol.
Maybe by next fall anyways, hehe, the waiting line is a bit long.
Already had a couple strains jump ahead in line, other projects got put on the back burner temporarily.
Do you plan on doing a run with them again soon?

My waiting line is way too long too. A nice problem for us to have but there are so many I will not get to this year. Still, that DLA5 made such nice resiny hash that I will have to squeeze a few in this year too, they will be in the rotation until I run out of the seeds .

I have already decided on most of my spring lineup, too many choices, I change my mind often.

Hey Mac! Thanks for dropping by. I really haven't been online much the last couple months, been taking a break from IG.

I am also having a hard time deciding where to post, I don't like posting the same stuff all over.
Oh ya gotta pick here. Lol.
I hear you man. I think for my own content, it will be here and IG. Good vibes my man
???

I often change my mind in what I end up running or not running too. Lol.
I think we are in agreement that the online fun is in sharing info & improving my methods, not in showing off & impressing people. Seems like many of the folks I am interested in are here now, guess I will hang out for awhile.

Good vibes indeed!
For me too mang. It's all about the community of cool cats. I've learned so much from and made many a good friend here in pot forum land.
Heck there's a number of folks/friends on here I've met with and or chat with regularly irl.
Good vibes, great folks, and some dank ass plants. ???

Here is that BOO, grew over 6 ft tall, decent yield, good frost, zero smell. Just luck of the draw. Funny how a plant can have no smell but still have a decent flavor.

DSC04374.jpg

The inside ones now are only in early flower but already smelling awesome. Orange with a hint of skunk. I know I am going to like this one.
