Quoted from food delivery news article,,,,
" As long as officials deem food delivery to be acceptable, which they do, we should focus instead on ways to reduce the risk to ourselves and couriers. Keep your distance (preferably via contactless delivery), avoid physical contact, pay and tip electronically (not with cash), and tip well."
I call bullshit.
My wife delivers for skip.
During a normal delivery, she will open her insulated bag, and you will reach out and grab your sealed order. In this case she has no contact with your package - whatsoever.
If you order contactless delivery, she must put her bag down on the front step ( which was just on the last guys step) ,,, then she must reach in the bag and physically handle your package.
Normal delivery = no food-driver contact
Contactless delivery = driver (contaminates) handles package, puts insulated bag on ground (over and over)
This is the sequence of events for contactless delivery.
- Insulated bag is lifted from ground on customers front porch
- insulated bag is put on the back seat of the car
- insulated bag is put on the counter of a fast food restaurant
- Insulated bag is put on backseat of car
- insulated bag is put on the ground in front of your house
- driver handles food package ( contact ((via package))between driver and customer )
- Insulated bag is removed from random front porch and returned to back seat of car.
Here's how you play it smart.
Order, pay, and leave tip online. Lift your own package from the insulated bag when the delivery arrives.
Follow these steps and the drivers will never handle your food.
Also don't forget to tip your driver. We are about to be incomeless, and there's no unemployment insurance.
