Eat it or deadly?

I posted some Amanita Mushrooms species we have here in the adventure thread. There's always like ONE bite taken from them by a critter in the Woods LOL. Apparently Deer can eat a small amount without it being toxic to them, and I imagine, they run through the woods tripping balls. Which explains some of the stuff I've seen in the Woods... LOL.

I used some of the classifiications and matched it to this not saying its correct in anyway. This one shows that its from the agaricus family, and it not edible

I thought of that one, too, found it myself before. I don't think it matches the original post though. There are Amanitas that stain red. Look very closely and compare the "warts / scales" on them, they don't match.

Nice oysters! They look pretty clean, I'd eat them. Usually the bugs get to them first.

Yeah I haven't ever had one of them, but I think we have those here as well. The only real issue is I'm not able to ID them as you did, so I leave them alone. We didn't keep the Orange Chantrelle Mushrooms we keep finding though either. We did get a decent haul of Chicken of the Woods though recently!

I thought they looked like oysters! Wasn't completely sure. They're growing off a log that I had sitting for firewood, but never got around to splitting. Now I want to figure out how to cultivate it LOL

If you use a knife to cut the Mushroom off, leave some of the base on the log, as that will give you a better chance of it growing back.

We have a few logs in the back garden that had Mushrooms on them, and normally I just "water" the logs while I'm filling up jugs for my plants. We were supposed to get some of the things Deebs has, the plugs, but I don't think we ended up getting them. I honestly don't even remember the species though, but we LOVE Mushrooms :)

I was thinking that keeping it wet is prolly good. my girl has plants on top of the logs so that should be easy, and maybe why it actually fruited.

Chantelles are one of my favorite, I've picked hundreds of pounds of them over the years. I have a truly magical patch that I stumbled upon.

Post some pics when find some more, I'd love to know what species you're eating. It would be wise for you to know as well đŸ˜‰.

Harvested about half of these Chicken of the Woods

Haven't harvested any Coral but they are out here too.

Non harvested Purple Coral we left to spore

Chantrelle I think. We didn't harvest though; had nothing to put them in. Also if I'm not positive, I don't grab them.

Chicken of the Woods again, but we left those; rusts a Ridge line with a swamp in front, so Mosquitoes made me leave them lol.

Massive amount of Corals

I can't remember how it's spelled, but "Rishi" ?

Always have a bite taken out of them lol. Guessing a type of Amanita.

I wasn't sure, so we left those too.

I don't have any pics on my phone right now, but mainly we harvest Morels, and Giant Puffballs, and the Chicken of the Woods, as I can identify those easier.

Yeah, those are definitely Chantrelles. They look like the "smooth" chants, my favorite kind. I've tried Chicken of the Woods, but I don't like it. Reishi is correct as well, males a decent tea. Just slice them up and dry them out.
The red topped one is a Russula species. Many of those are edible, but pretty bland.
The white ones are Oysters, perfect condition, too, also one of my favs.
The last ones do appear to be the "cinnabar red" chants, they're really tasty, too. A better shot of the underside would help confirm.
If you like shrooms, some of those are really worth trying, I'd be all over that đŸ˜‹.
Thanks for sharing brother, love those pics!

Have you ever tried the Chicken of the Woods with a Pasta? That's the main way we eat this, we found a huge tree years ago, and filled two grocery bags full of them, and it wasn't even half of what was on that log bro. I'd never seen that many in one spot before. We gave some to some friends to enjoy too. But yeah just with a Pasta and a creamy white sauce, lots of black pepper, it brings out the chicken like parts pretty well.

lol my dumb ass said "Yellow Chantrelle" haha.

I couldn't remember how to spell that, but yeah that was a huge amount we'd found that day. Because we weren't positive if the ID we left them there.

OK thanks! I thought they were species of Amanita but I'm not great at either of those.

We have found these, but we weren't sure and left them, but I'm very interested in trying them for sure. I LOVE Mushrooms.

Wife said she has a pic from the bottom of them. There's so many out there bro... we get Morels and Shaggy Manes in the front yard, and the side yard, is covered in the Cinnabar Chantrelle Mushrooms. There's a path of them all the way out to the Woods, and then all through there too.

If you like shrooms, some of those are really worth trying, I'd be all over that đŸ˜‹.

Oh we love them! The only reason we leave so many is just being unsure of the ID part. We did do a spore on wax paper check for sure.... Hogskin Puffball? I think it was those. We have life 3 or 4 species that grow all over the area.

Found a Giant Puffball by the side of the road one time; it was past the prime, so we stuck it in the yard by the trail leading into the woods, so that way we could step on it with our boots before entering the trail, and spore the crap out of the area lol. It was a huge one; bit bigger than a Basketball, so it made a cloud of spores every time.

I normally post my pics in the Cool Pics and Adventures Thread on here if you aren't already watching that one; there's pics in that, that I don't currently have on my phone.

If you visit one day I can show you. And since you can ID ones I can't I'll split them all with you lol.

I'm super jealous about the morels, I just can't seem to find them. I found about 6 total over the last 15 yrs. They're so good!

Oh they are! Basically the Wife fries them up in Garlic and butter, and.... I don't even need anything with them LOL. They're yummy. We have two species we commonly find in the front yard, and by the property line for the neighbor's houses on both sides (We have permission to grab them) and we usually get the White Morels, and the Black Morels, depending on the climate, and time of season.

This season was pretty short because it was so dry during early Spring, but I still managed to find a bowl full in the side yard. Some times we find them well over a foot tall, and grab multiple bowls full of them from the yard, and this season, we found them around a downed Apple Tree that got destroyed by a wind and ice storm.

Morels and Shaggy Manes are the main front yard Mushrooms we get, but the rest of the stuff we find is out back in the woods.

I need to make a visit someday.

Yes you do :) If it's Spring you can walk around the front with us and find some Morels. Or Shaggy Mane. Once we go to the back yard, or side yard and into the back area which is woods, that's where we find the rest. All those pics came from the same chunk of woods.
