Ideas to bounce around:
I have gotten some pollen for Thousand Oaks. I've read that this is so pungent, that pets have thrown up from the smell when it's drying after a harvest. Exciting news for sure.
I've got a list of stuff in my head that I want to toy with, and some of them I should at least get down on here so I have somewhere to remember it.
Thousand Oaks :
Thousand Oaks X Blue Cheese S1
Thousand Oaks X Chem DMT (I've had it told to me by a very trusted person that Chem DMT brings a Mothball funk to the table)
Thousand Oaks X Alpha Skunk Cheese
Thousand Oaks X Chemdog 4BX
Thousand Oaks X Sin City Juice
Thousand Oaks X Dead Whabbits (Oh I can picture this one in my head... The smell should be.... hehe)
The Chem DMT are fem seeds, so, I'm thinking that as a female, with a clone of whatever other male I can find that is worth keeping. I know enough about this now, that I don't want to keep just any male I get. It's REALLY hard for me to keep a male plant around here. The risk of accidental pollination is a concern, but not a deal breaker. But keeping male clones going for a bit while I'm deciding what to do, and then flowering out a tent so I can do my crosses, is pretty hard really. I'm a newcomer to the world of flowering a plant in a tent. Before this, I only used a tent for starting seedlings, and then, for getting clones started of the plants I cut clones from, but once they're ready, they'd all go outside to finish. After this season though, I was able to actually do this, so, now my mind is full of ideas.
I do have the seeds made from my first project, but none have been ran as of yet. I do have a decent amount of Black Cheese X Susie Cream Cheese, and as of the other day, I found some Alpha Skunk Cheese X Susie Cream Cheese, which I'm excited about too.
I have quite a few plans with Fiona's Chem Cake, which I may HAVE to run this season again. We're almost out, and to date, nothing has ever been better for stomach issues than this. I just got back from my Uncle's house, as he has been having issues with his again, so I brought him a bag of that. The sheer amount of help this strain offers, is astounding to me. I'm grateful I have more of this one, and plan on running some experiments. I feel like adding some Cheese pollen in to her, will give me a chance at more options in the offspring.
Fiona's Chem Cake X Alpha Skunk Cheese
Fiona's Chem Cake X Dead Whabbits
Fiona's Chem Cake X Sin City Juice
Fiona's Chem Cake X Susie Cream Cheese
Fiona's Chem Cake X Blue Cheese
Fiona's Chem Cake X Chemdog 4 BX
Fiona's Chem Cake X Cheetos (Boy that one would be potent... Can't smoke either of those two if I've got driving to do LOL)
(These are assuming I find something worth while):
Alpha Skunk Cheese X Cheetos (Not named as of yet) X Fiona's Chem Cake
Alpha Skunk Cheese X Cheetos X Dead Whabbits
Alpha Skunk Cheese X Cheetos X Chem DMT
Dead Whabbits X Cheetos (Night of the Living Cheese?) X Chem DMT
Night of the Living Cheese X Fiona's Chem Cake
Night of the Living Cheese X Sin City Juice (Zombie Cheese Juice? LOL)
Cheetos X Blueberry Cheesecake (Not named yet) X Chem DMT
I think I'll stop here for now. I just needed a spot to get these out where I have a list to aim for. Some of these will depend on what I find. I know every seed I pop isn't going to be a stand out must breed with plant. I understand that, but I have goals for things I want to try.
How do I choose what to breed with ? Well, no matter if it's a male or a female, I feel like using the same criteria is important:
Smell and Structure come in heavy for me. I go on and on about the structure of certain plants I see, and how much I love the way they look / grow, and the strength of a branch. Sure, I could just use netting to secure branches, but if I find a plant with strong branches that won't bust off to begin with so easy, I take that as a plus.
Smell probably doesn't need much explanation given my "usual" question for ....EVERY strain I see you guys growing LOL. Smell is more than important to me though. All weed can have decent THC in it if grown right. And THC is THC, but Terpene production on the other hand? That's where the gold mine is in my opinion. THAT is what got me going in the first place. Smell is more important to me than resin production to be honest. I feel like proper nutrition and care = good resin production. If the plant is getting what it needs, it'll give you what you need.
It's no secret I'm looking for plants that smell like someone left a cooler full of deer guts outside for a month in August. But, you know, with that dirty Hippy Feet and Cheese smell on top. And some Animals pee on that...And then someone pours Gasoline all over that.... Hahaha
Resin Production is one of those things that, I know a lot of people select males based on them being resinous, and I do like seeing some sparkly balls on my dudes too, but, anyone have any advice here ?
At the end of the day, the male that has a pungent odor, and great structure, is going to be my selection over one that smell like cotton candy, and is covered in resin. That's just how I roll, at least for now. Ideal conditions obviously would be a male that smells like I didn't shower for a month, and just as sticky, but sometimes the male might stand out to me, and be too nice not to keep I guess.

Thousand Oaks :
With marketing like this it's amazing I hadn't heard of it before.Obnoxious.. Repugnant.. Abhorrent.. Violently DANK..
Thats how best to describe the smells and tastes that Thousand Oaks exudes. Filters must be used in vegetative state as the scents are high diesel and rubber with a sweet underlying tone that makes it linger and stick to everything. This strain has been responsible for giving people head aches and making family pets throw up at the smell during harvesting. If this combination of terpene’s and flavanoid’s had a name it would be ABUSIVE. Finished flowers will make seasoned veteran smokers tap out due to strength. Saliva factor of 9/10 on wake N bake bong load. Not for the inexperienced or weekend warrior. My own personal favorite for strength and impressing other smokers, Effects are heavy eye closer. This may be the ultimate HEAVY hitter we offer at the moment. Pinene and Mercyene just coat the mouth and hang there with every hit with this absolute day wrecker.
