I bullshitted on contacting them whenever the LED's started to short, then continued to use it for about a year. I guess I could reach out to them now and see what's good, but I'd rather just power a couple of those $100 diablos if I could. But then again, if rapid would just send new pucks, I would be happy to not spend any money. I'll shoot them an email now. Thanks for replying BH!

If the rapid led doesn’t work out or give ya good advice on what to do than I would give Hlg a email or call and tell them ur exact model of ur ballast and what not and they will def help ya get a diy version /alt to work with it and good advice to base what u should do. I trust both companies but if rapid doesn’t help ya out that’s my option 2 I woi;d do for that issue cause that ballast alone is a huge part of the cost!

I have this growmau5 fixture that worked ok for about a year and then half of the leds on each puck began to quit working. The fixture has 4 pucks, but after I purchased I noticed that they began selling it with 3, same driver. I’m wondering if that had anything to do with it. Either way, I’d love to salvage the driver and make myself an hlg of some sort. I don’t have that much electrical knowledge and I’m constantly paranoid about running lights if I fuck with them… so if anyone could steer me I the direction of a fitting panel I can power with the driver that would be sweet. Here’s the driver and a led that ain’t worth a puck now

Homie from rapid told me to try it without the dimmer and see what happens. (not in those words lol) and that the gen1 pucks had a different "forward voltage". Im gonna try it out in a little and see.

i had one of my timber leds have same issue, i Replaced the dimmer and it worked , even unplugging/bypassing it solved that issue but it ran at 100%

I have a feeling that I'm the one who isn't worth a puck. I bet it runs when I delete the dimmer... my avatar used to be the jerk for a reason....

Same pucks just a different framework. Center cob is from Rapidled too. The cob used to flicker, removed the dimmer and it was fine.

Welp, my R spec 550 finally shit out for good today it would seem. I bought it refurbished and out of the box it never quite worked right, there seemed to be a connection issue between one of the boards and the driver. It would flicker in and out, now It just doesnt seem to connect at all. I was running it about 1/2 of the way turned up, now i just turned the one side up all the way for the time being.

I dunno, I"m not really looking to replace it with another HLG. What else are y'all liking?

gonna hold onto it and fiddle around, see if i can rewire it or something. but I'd like an upgrade anyways.

Nah I thought about it, but being that its already a refurbished, i didnt know if it was warrantied or anything. I'll check on their site and see what they say. I got a buddy who's real handy with wiring stuff up and he might be able to take a peek at it and see if its something fixable or not.

I would think it was just the driver? You can take it apart or pick up a driver or two and build two lights?
If not, what do you want for it?

if it was me I would offer 50/50 weed or if he doesn’t want that I would still low ball, like 300-350. Like I said I got my 650r with 1 year hlg warrenty for 410. They are still doing 15% off and just watch their sales ( subscribe and they will email ya)
