Man I'd love to see Thailand ! If it wasn't so damned hot I would put more serious thought into it; They have Goonch there :) And of course Thai Food!!
@Psychobilly , You should go! The weather in the winter is amazing. Sunny, no rain, and it's only mildly hot at mid day, mornings and evenings are perfect! The food was fantastic, cheap, and everywhere. I ate a ridiculous amount of fresh fruits, too many kinds to name them all. Speaking of goonch, I got to dip hands in the Mehkong River while my Thai brothers were telling me stories of 200 kilo catfish 😲. I'm already looking forward to going back...

What kind of temps were they hitting in Winter ?

Thai Food is a favorite of mine! Thailand is one of the only cultures on Earth that considers "hot" a flavor. Thai Chilis are wonderful, and before it closed, we used to have a Thai food place here, where the family that owned it was from Thailand, and after being in there a few times, I became closer with the younger guy who took orders to the kitchen, and started talking to him about traditional Thai food, and one day I asked him a simple question when I was trying to decide what to order; "If you were going to make this dish for your Grandparents, what level of spicy would you choose ?" and he said "Triple Spicy".

The Menu had a warning on it, saying that "Most Asian restaurants that have spicy food, don't look at it the same way, and our "hot" is their spicy, and our spicy, is hotter than you'd ever be served there". They had a Chili next to dishes that were exceedingly hot, to give you a heads up, and the first time, I think I chose double spicy, but after the waiter said triple was how he'd give it to his Grandparents, I had to try it that way. It was so good it was almost unfair to any other place.

Eventually, I got to have a good back and forth with him, and one day I said "Pretend I'm not white, and give it to me quadruple spicy" LOL. His family in the kitchen came out and watched me eat it. It was good. I ate the whole plate in one sitting, no drink, and got all my sinus cavities opened up :) My Mom... Poor thing ate a grain of rice off my plate to see how hot it really was, and the guy had to bring her Cucumbers in Water to stop her mouth from burning. She was like "How do you even eat that!?!" LOL. I've always liked spicy food, and Thailand is always going to have a special place in my heart for that reason.

YES! You know, back before Jeremy Wade started the show River Monsters, hardly anyone even knew what a Goonch was. To this day, there's no actual verified facts on how large they can actually get. I've seen locals in Nepal say they had seen fish over 10 feet long. I'll be honest, I wouldn't even go in that water if I knew a 10 foot Goonch was in there... We are totally on the menu for that fish.

They also have Wallago!!! Another giant species. You ever seen the Carp they have there? The ones that get 600 pounds ? You can hand feed them noodles!!!!

It's funny, because in the Jungle the heat would likely get me before the large Cats ever could. But knowing what's in the Water, I wouldn't go in LOL.

You know it's funny how Goonch species can survive in Thailand given the heat there. They normally like the upper parts of the river in the Mountains in India because they don't like it above 70 degrees. Like me LOL. You can have one as a pet though. They aren't cheap of course, but, assuming you had an Olympic sized pool... 300 dollars or so to keep one as a pet. Unless you get a Gold color morph! Those are about 10,000 dollars.
Plus durian!

Yeah, I remember watching that show with Andrew "Bizarre Foods" and Durian, and that Viking Shark they age and smells like pee pee were two he couldn't handle, and I can't help but wonder LOL. I've heard Durian has a smell not unlike rotted creamy Onions, which is what Limburger smells like, and.... I kind of can't help but want to try it LOL. Apparently in Thailand they make sure the places where it's growing are down wind of cities on purpose.

Bro this is my first time ever considering going to Ohio! Well, that and like, a few months ago.... A girl I know there, got a job at a Zoo, and they have Snow Leopards... She wouldn't even tell me if the security cameras were near that enclosure though *sigh*

I actually got to try some fresh Durian this time while I was there, I only had it frozen a couple times before. It was delicious, the smell was nowhere near as intense as the thawed frozen. The fresh aroma was very floral and fumey, and it was almost like it was off-gassing a ton of CO2 or something. It was mildy sweet & extra creamy. It was also one of the most expensive things we ate over there, $50 USD for 1 kilo.

@Psychobilly ,In the Eastern part of the country where I visited, the temps stayed between mid 70's to low 90's with very low humidity, it doesn't rain at all during the winter.

Yeah, they don't mess around when it comes to spicy food. I had a couple of dishes that were so hot it made me dizzy, lol. They have a saying there, "baw pit, baw sap". The literal translation is, "no spicy, no good". I tend to agree with that one 😜.

Yessss! Dude it's one of my favorite things as well. I love durian. That's crazy expensive though! The last time I was there I remember walking through Chatuchak market just housing fresh durian straight to the face and paying like nothing for it.

Did I ever send you some G13 Hazeplant? There's definitely a pheno that smells like durian.

@Kanzeon , You sent me your (Blue Dream x ON Haze) x G13 Hazeplant, but I got all males. I kept one nice one, and saved pollen, but haven't hit any ladies with it yet.
If you have some extra beans of the G13 Hazeplant I'd give them a go. I'm already dreaming of those creamy Durian terps 🤤.

20 dollars a pound ? That doesn't seem too bad for something so exotic honestly. I've only heard of the smell, since, where I'm at, I've never seen it around. I've heard it smells not unlike GMO though.

low 90s in Winter ??? Shit.... What does Summer do ?? I'd have to visit at night and leave before sun up like a weird Vampire or something LOL.

So I tried to pop 5 more of the "Big Sexy" and 5 more of the "Berries & Blues", but I didn't get a single sprout ☹️. Not sure what happened with them as I started a few other strains with them and they're doing fine. I reached out to Peter at Dagga and he immediately sent me a replacement pack of the Big Sexy, but there weren't any more of the B&B in stock, so he sent a pack of Blue Carbine instead. I'm disappointed with the beans not sprouting, but I feel like made it right by listening to me and responding right away. Top notch customer service from those guys!
Here's how the rest are looking:
Whoody Tribe
Looks like 3 are good, I don't think the mutant is gonna make it much longer.

Sour Del La Chem

1000002728.jpg

Frosty MacFish
5/5 one is a bit runty, we'll see if it catches up
1000002729.jpg

Chem Kesey x 79' Xmas bud

Started more seeds this week:
1. Big Sexy (Yellow Hammer) Reg 3/6. Got 4 sprouts, but one rotted in the soil already, other ones look healthy.
2. Blue Carbine (Yellow Hammer) Reg 0/6. I'm really struggling with their gear. They seem to crack open and not grow? Just threw 5 more down, we'll see...
3. SCS Melvinz x Syrian Landrace (Hoku) Reg 6/6 sprouted, nice vigor on these already.
4. GMO Bomb (Atlas) Fem 1/1 strange fused seeds leaves on this one.
5. Mendo Butter (Atlas) Fem 1/1 looks like a triploid
6. Cali Couture (Twenty20) Fem 1/1
7. Strawberry Blonde (Twenty20) Fem 1/1
8. Curve Breaker (Twenty20) Fem 1/1
9. Bubbawhip (Twenty20) Fem 1/1
