This is an awesome thread and I have Had a bunch of hobbies it two I’ve stuck with for the longest are Coil Building (vape coils) and Mixing vape juice. Before government cracked down and made everyone buy a tobacco sales permit to sell vape juice and coils I had quite a lucrative business on eBay and Etsy grossing around 5k a month but when that happened it went from a job to a hobby for fun. And all that monthly income disappeared. But on the bright side now I have more time to grow weed and spend with my sons. I absolutely love to build coils, when it’s just me the drill and a few spools of wire or ribbon I’m in a zone that most never get to experience. It’s like I’m all alone and my focus is so pin point because of how small the wire is and the detail it takes to make some of these coils. I wish I had my old phone when I did competitions to show some of the intricate builds I’ve done. THese are the only two photos I could find on this new phone if any coils. Pic 1 is an Alien Coil made up of 3x28g stainless steel cores wrapped with 1x36g stainless steel I stretched alien wrap wire. This build give optimum flavor and cloud production while keeping the ohms 8DAAFDF4-B445-4792-9685-EB3B63673811.jpeg
Pic 2 is called a Mohawk alien and is exactly the same except you don’t have to keep the core wires perfectly flat(which is a bitch) but instead you allow them to collapse and that causes the “s” shaped design of the alien wrap wire to bunch you creating a Mohawk. If done with multiple wraps you can do variations of enigmas, hedgehogs, interlocking aliens and enigmas ect.

this hobby has endless possibilities and takes some serious practice, patience and skill. Idk how many times I’ve gotten cut or had wire ball up on me to where I wanted to throw my drill through a window. But everytime I take a breath and I go right back to that euphoric zone and bang them out.

@DreamingOne ; Yeah I used to have a tone generator back like almost 20 years ago maybe? It was pretty sweet because it could run off a floppy and made it really easy to record whatever tone I needed at the time. On that note did you ever see a German band called Kraftwerk do an entire album with phones? It was pretty interesting to say the least heh.

@18B ; My personal favorite Cognac that I've been capable of affording at least is Remy Martin XO like without a doubt. The first one I ever drank was Hennessy VSOP, and I really liked it. I know damn well it's "Brandy" but I also know damn well the French Government has a pretty good idea on "The flavor of a place" being a law where it can't be called Cognac (Or Champaign for that matter) without being from that region. The grapes in the Cognac region are apparently not very good in terms of flavor, but they make one AMAZING Brandy!

Don't get me wrong, I'll drink E&J, but if I have a choice? Remy all day. The VSOP Remy is also a good one that I've enjoyed quite a lot and it's a LOT cheaper than some. I've also drank Martell VSOP I think it was, and that too was a good one, but no where near as good as the Remy. Remy Martin is my current favorite that I'm capable of having every now and then. NEver got to try the Louis XIII yet or the Paradis Hennessy (I don't have 40,000 dollars to spend on a single bottle LOL) but I'm pretty sure it's awesome.

For "Method of consumption" I'm a snobby fucking prick honestly; I drink it at room temperature, no ice, and I drink it relatively slow, and hold it in my mouth for a while like I'm a blonde making a deposit at a sperm bank so that way all the grapey flavors can come through at the end.

If you slam a shot of it you basically can just taste Brandy, but if you do it slower, you get the flavors better. Apparently the "Kentucky Chew" method would be best (Where you hold Bourbon in your mouth and slosh it around to let the flavors hit right) and I like that method. I do the same thing with well made Moonshine.

Personally I don't go to bars much, as I'd much rather just enjoy the Cognac myself and not have to explain that I can't do it cold and don't want ice, and I don't have to cringe if someone adds Coke to it LOL.

An older hobby I no longer have was fucking with fast food places:

Picture 5.jpg

My friends and family would tell you; "I'm a bit of a fucker" :) I think I was 18 in that picture. The idea being you tape it to the Drive Thru box you talk through to place an order, and with a CB radio you can listen to customers singing :)

Should also add I once got bored and "Took over a KFC Drive Thru"...... I learned back in high school working at fast food places that a head set from ANY Drive Thru, would work on ANY Drive Thru, so even if you didn't have a CB Radio to talk over that frequency, you could use another one from another place.

Like many here in sunny so cal I started raising milkweed for Monarchs this past spring. A client was all into it and released many a butterfly this past summer. I didn't know what to expect and the cats ate me out of plants constantly.

The foliage all grows back but if eggs have been laid the cats will find it and munch it down looking for more. If more isn't found they starve to death. They're always susceptible to preditory wasps and flies until existing their cocoons.

Any way I've got 3 2gal pots

I'm glad I went to look at this one has aphids
20211212_085255.jpg
It's always something. They've invaded my weed many times. Capt Jack's would get rid of 'em but they they'd be deadly to the cats. Soap/rubbing alcohol mix this evening.

The Monarch story here is amazing. Very few were counted last year so people stepped up and planted milkweed and this year counts are way up. A lot of work yet to do but it's a start and easy. Plants aren't cheap, 1 gal pots $20. I've got seeds that need to be soaked and got going for spring.

Anyone keep bees or have tried it ? Apparently the bees supplied with these kits are not super aggressive like the import African bee . I’ve been thinking about it for awhile but being allergic to bees obviously there’s apprehension.
It’s a great Aussie invention these flow hives so extracting the honey is now as simple as turning a tap which alters the octagon shaped holding points allowing the honey to simply drain down . A3501A4E-E453-4697-B6FD-DC59B2934248.jpeg

I too would love to keep bees. Only on about a half acre so having them in the backyard might not work well. Neighbor has 4 acres and thought about talking to her. I'd buy it and care for it and split the honey with her. Thinking about it and my wife is down. They make hives you don't have to pull the trays, just turn a handle and the honey flows and just sew this:

I have a yard loaded with flora and I continuously watch them collect and exit my yard . I also own the land next door which is vacant so I’m thinking why not ?
Sounds like a great offer for your neighbour , that’s as win / win as you’ll get ??

I have a few hives I mess around with. If you are allergic to bees, I wouldn’t recommend keeping them unless someone else you know is going to work them. You will get stung. Some days a bunch, some days not at all. But even the gentlest of bees can have bad days. I love it though. It is a very rewarding hobby. I love it when I do a hive extraction and there is 10k 20k bees flying all around me, and all I can hear is the buzzing of their wings. It drowns out the noise of the world, and you get tons of honey! 41272D42-77D4-45BB-9342-45E57F30B1E8.png

That’s great feedback and a great therapy to escape the worlds overload at times . I was thinking about the getting stung bit and you explained it would just be a matter of time until being nailed by one or a few . So even with a Bee suit a few would still get through by the sound of it ?. I’m wondering how much convincing the wife would take to go in at harvest or would it end up the hive that stole my marriage ?.

Well hell, looks like I already have a hive/queen.

Hard to see but bees are going in and out of a crack in the back of our garage and there are 2 of these
20211213_121040.jpg
A few feet to the right. I didn't get close but was not harrassed by any bees.

I've been seeing more bees buzzing me on the patio lately. Nicer weather and more bees. Now I know why, patio ends at the garage?

Maybe now is the time to purchase the hive? Maybe they'll move into it? No way to get to the queen unless I tear the wood out and i don't wanna do that.

A neighbor from the condos saw me wrapping the small greenhouse and pointed it out so a hive right there may cause trouble. They are not in the garage but between the wall although they may get through.

The next few days are supposed to be rain and cold and that will keep the bees calm and give me time to research and weigh my options.

If the bees are there this time of year you are stuck with them all winter (unless you are in a warm area) To humanely get them out I would remove that spray foam and open the doors to the shed. The goal being to lower the temperature enough the heater bees are no longer able to warm the others. They will leave for another nest. You may have to make a secondary opening in the wall in order to let the cold air in. Once they leave you need to remove the nest or you will have ants out the ass for the nest 30 years. Seal the hole using a piece of flashing bolted in place and seal the edges with heavy sealant.

Hell yeah man, when I was in high school I worked at a fast food place and it didn't take long to realize they don't always care if employees are intoxicated lol. Been pretty wasted at a Popeye's too but that was more like "bring me food until you're disgusted with my life choices" lol

My daughter took this pic of me yesterday while I was FoxHunting...I am stopping traffic so the other riders can cross safely.... I am wearing my "darks" whereas on the weekends and more formal hunts I wear my "pinks". A really fun day. This was close to the end and we had breakfast waiting!...sorry it is a shitty pic. I am on the second horse...a 17.3 Trakehner bred and trained by me. image~2.jpg
There is something y'all do not know about me...I breed and train horses...I have developed my own breed of horse for playing polo...there are 27 of them currently playing at Banbury...I bred them for myself when I played polo and have done so by request of a few others...there are only 32 in existence and I hold the breed standards.

That’s pretty cool dude! Horses are such….idk, different? Creatures. I was in a lockdown school in my youth on a horse ranch, so I have very minimal experience riding, training, grooming, working a 50+ horse ranch. We did some cattle drives to help local ranchers out, got some real unique experiences from that.

They all have such personality, and some, well, I didn’t like their personality. Mostly Arabians. Flighty things they are

Yes, they are just like people...only smarter?...oh wow, great fun...I used to take 2 paintball guns each with another color...go out and cows with certain numbers got hit with green and other certain numbers got pink etc and so on...this determined if they go on a truck, moved to another field or location, to be bred etc...whatever was the need...I did this for Virginia Beef...they have land all over Virginia.
I used to use my green starts to do this as it was perfect experience for them.
When you buy a horse off of me...they will load on any trailer, cross any road, bridge, water, etc...shoot a gun off their back...ride down any road trail non trail etc...fire engines, Jake brakes, air horns...not an issue...they are broke broke, but still a horse.
I am NOT a heavy handed trainer...I believe the hardest you pull on a horse is the softest it will ever be...my horses are light on their feet and light handed.
Arabians are great horses for great riders... not so much for others ?...if you don't keep their head down their signature move it to put the head up, escape the bit and run off...LOL...but fine horses they are.
Hope you get on one again and if you have children...please take them to riding lessons...you will never regret it. Especially a little girl.
