IDK how I missed the meatloaf. Heck yeah, looks bomb. My mom used to always glaze it with a ketchup and brown sugar mix.

Thats exactly what I do! Except I use a hipster ass no sugar added ketchup so I can control the sweetness better. I get all of the nostalgia without the high fructose corn syrup lol

Its the only thing about my meatloaf thats the same as my moms though. I like to amp the flavor up a lot more than the meatloafs I grew up with.

Heck yeah! It's fun to elevate the old dishes using new techniques and ingredients.

It was Culvers, but honestly I feel like complete trash today after it. The place smelled like a truck stop bathroom, and I had mad burps and gas all night. I don't think my body likes culvers much anymore, even if that meal was only 5 bucks after the gift cards. So this morning, I got all the necessary accoutrement to make beef roast for dinner tonight.

You ever tried using Mustard and mushrooms? I've had it with the Mustard instead of ketchup and it was nice!

I put mustard powder and minced mushrooms in my meatloaf actually! I pulverize the mushrooms with onion, garlic, celery and carrot in the food processor then cook them down in some butter, chicken stock, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and mix all that into the breadcrumbs. Cant even really tell the veggies are there but it adds a ton of flavor.

Have you considered a blend of mustard and ketchup. I mix the two for corn dog dipping with a hit of sriracha.

I have actually done that as well! My glaze is actually ketchup, cider vinegar and brown sugar but sometimes I substitute mustard for the vinegar.

I also make a similar dip like you describe, ketchup, mustard, mayo and garlic cholula. I dip my fries in it.

A corn dog sounds amazing right now by the way. This thread always makes me hungry.
