THIS. Wtf is up w the $15 bowls. Like seriously. Some are almost $20 here now so I just walk away and end up at a taco truck that still has $1.50-3.00 tacos, $ 5-8 burritos, and much more filling. Sadly I gave up on food trucks last year. When they first started hitting the scene in my area they were much more reasonable. Now they’re getting all cute and getting away from what the purpose was, good food for good prices, sharing their craft w the community. IDGAF about your fancy little toothpicks n shit. If the food (and price point) don’t bring it, no toothpick will save you. But shockingly, ppl still eat it all up. I guess it’s a “cool trendy” thing. The Mexicans have it right, tried and true for generations, basic entrees, keep the prices enough to cover costs w some profit to make a living and keep on grinding. I could make a serious side hustle just slangin my mom’s fried rice alone, throw in some meat rolls and maybe some banh xeo and banh mi, hell I could quit my day job. But she won’t bite. Persistence could help here? If I ever get a chance I wanna be able to bring her cooking talents to the public so they can see how special it is. You can have all the same ingredients but I believe it’s all in the technique. Plus - the dedication and love that’s put into every dish.
