Willie's Supercalifragilistic Gummy Recipe
4.5 oz Jello
1/2 oz gelatin or (two packets)
1/2 teaspoon Guar Gum
1/2 teaspoon Citric Acid
1 teaspoon sunflower lecithin powder
1/2 cup of water
1/3 cup of light corn syrup
1/2 cup oil
tools needed are a double boiler, spoon, turkey baster and molds.
Put everything except the oil into the pot, Mix it all. Let it sit
for 10 minutes Meanwhile the botton half of the double boiler is warming
up.
After 10 minutes, put the top pot into the bottom one. Keep the heat
so the water is not bubbling over. Pour in the oil and stir, stir, stir.
It will eventually blend in. keep stirring, as you stir you will notice bubbles
forming along the sides of the pot. Those are gelatin bubbles popping.
Initially, they will stir away. When you reach the point that stirring is
overwhelmed by the bubbles, (you can't stir them away) the jello mix is ready
..turn the heat down a little. Then suck up the goo with the baster and place
in your molds..work quick as you can. I put all my molds on large plastic
cutting boards, for rigidity. I let the gummies sit in the molds overnght, then pop them
out to let dry. Drying on parchment or wax paper, flipping them every so often, until they
are candy like consistency and can be bagged without sticking together. I never refrigerate
them, it ruins the clarity and the texture.
A couple of notes......I weigh the Jello. I have found that the boxes are not really
all that accurate for weight. There is no 4.5 oz box, so you'll need one 6 oz box or two 3 oz
boxes of Jello. That became important as I want to do a run where I know exactly what I am going to
get. 4 short this round, 6 extra next round,..etc Weighing it works perfect!
This recipe will make 44 of the standard 7ml marijuana leaves.
DO NOT BOIL THE JELLO! It kills the strength of the jello and your gummies will suffer.
Corn Syrup....I will use either light or dark but my preference is for the light. I like Karo
brand. It is better for clarity and color and it adds a vanilla taste that is dynamite. It's
main contribution is moldability, you get great looking detailed pieces with no soft sides.
Double boiler.mine is a half gallon cheapo from the thrift store...there are many out there.
Clean up....you have 1 gooey pot, 1 gooey baster, and one pot with very hot water. Suck up that hot water with the baster and start on the top pot and the baster itself. Clean in a few minutes
Thanks to @stanknugzz77 and @OldG for their contributions helping me to arrive at this recipe.
Perfect candy is highly probable!
