IPAs remind me of weed. Shit the Squirt clone I had, I smelled the Grapefruit portion and figured that was it, but life, Kanzeon smelled it, and said "nah man, hops, like the IPA kind" and I took one sniff, and couldn't believe I didn't put that together lol.

I've also had an IPA that was made with just the "resin" of the Hops... like drinking Rosin, lol, it eas good!

One of the Canteloupe Kush from Mosca tastes exactly like smoking a NEIPA. I love it haha

I barely even drink beer any more, but this story breaks my heart.
I've taken the tour there, and enjoyed many, many Anchor Steams in my day.
Hard to beat a Herb Caen and a cold Anchor Steam down at Bill's.

Went and dug out the pic from when I took the tour

Anchor Steam was a hallmark of my early drinking days. The brewery shutting down has me all bummed out. Trying to find a case somewhere nearby so I can give it one last go

Last month I read an article that Anchor was ceasing distribution outside of California.
Stopped in a Sprouts market and picked up a cold six pack.
Was a little surprised at the change in packaging.
The beer was fine, but honestly there are so many other options.
Kind of said goodbye at that point.
I'm probably a little more nostalgic about their Old Foghorn and Christmas Ale, but have to admit not having purchased either in a few years.

As for the beer I still grieve the loss of to this day... it's Pete's Wicked.

Pete's wicked ale is definitely what started me on craft beer...Not long after started on the Samuel Adams to many to count these days

Well and thats the rub isnt it? I didnt even notice it disappearing from shelves because I stopped drinking it long ago. Back when the options for non-macros was imports like Bass or Heineken or local mid-size ops like Sam Adams or for us, Harpoon, a rich malty west coast ale was a treasure. These days it falls flat in comparison to all these incredible beer options that line the shelves.

I was just talking to a friend of mine about this. Theres just too many options now, and some breweries arent going to survive the markets saturation.

For a good malted flavor, ever had Colt 45 ? I myself enjoy a nice malty flavor now and then :)

I had many a colt 45 as a teenager lol, not the kind of malty I enjoy these days tbh. By and large I prefer crisp, hoppy beers at this stage in life. I probably wont even enjoy an Anchor Steam anymore. My desire to grab a six pack is driven purely by nostalgia and an excuse to drink with my friends.

I don't know who Pete is but that wicked ale was sort of the only option for a brown ale at the time. IPA wasn't even a thing yet as far as being on all the shelves...And Sam Adams only had Boston Lager which I still love

Even the reformulated version?

Both them and New Belgium made changes to their flagships I did really like but also am not offended just not sure where I land.
