BEER

Yeah, I made it over there several times before we went Kaput! Man, they dragged me all over a 4 country area - eating and drinking at swanky joints and dives, as well. My favorite places to drink were the monasteries - those monks brew the mean shit! You could cut some of those Doppelbocks with a knife.

Oh man the food..... Hehe. There's quite a few spots there I'd love to get to see, and eat at, and, of course, have Beer at. Every tried the Hacker-Pschorr Weiz Bier ?? It's like my all time favorite.

Yeah, Hacker-Pschorr is a big one - love it! Spaten, Franziskaner, Maisel, Andechs - love 'em all and there's a ton of them that I never heard of, probably. But the big question is: Mit Hefe or Kristall? (With unfiltered yeast or Clear)
Pretty much any hefe is my favorite, mit hefe of course, and be sure to roll the bottle to get all that goodness back in suspension!

There are a few weed seltzers and I'm pretty sure there are at least a few cannabeers

Oh I'm glad you've had that! It isn't really well known from what I've seen.

I feel like the IPAs would be great with Weed; the piney and citrusy smells from it would go great with strains that have a complimentary Terpene Profile. I have had a "resin" beer lol. It was an IPA made with the trichomes of the Hops.

I think the only major difference between a lager and a pilsner is the lager is cold fermented (lagered)? It's been a minute since I brewed any beer at all, but I used to knock out some crisp pilsners! Never did any lagering, though. Weed and beer makes me sleepy - prolly why I no longer brew!

Actually, a pils is just a style of lager. You're absolutely correct about the fermentation temps, the yeast for lagers is also bottom fermenting instead of top like ales.

Oh man you got to see Germany ??? :) Beer, Wels Catfish, and Neue Deutsche Haerte musik, ich liebe der Vaterland. It'd be awesome to see one day, as a good chunk of my family came off the boat from there.
Tell me you went to Oktoberfest? I made it there nearly 20 years ago. Snorting snuff with Swiss crew and very messy. About 4 tents I made it in. Blind drunk

I did make it to one Oktoberfest, and, yeah, those 2 liter mugs will wear you out! I always seemed to be there during Fasching (Karneval), which loosely correlates to Mardi Gras here in the states - a big blowout before Lent. Very similar vibe, but much colder, shittier weather!

I've been talking about Ethiopian food in the dinner thread, might as well share my Ethiopian beer experience too! First ever African beer and it was really good. I kind of expected it to be one of those ubiquitous warm climate light lagers that populate Latin America and Indo China/Southeast Asia but it was actually more flavorful and complex than most of those (and 5% ABV). Like a German lager with a slight twist. Was perfect for a sweltering night and spicy food.

Also went to Idle Hands which I think is my favorite brewery in the Boston area. If any of you ever visit the area I highly recommend giving them a try.

Only been to Africa once - to Mombasa, Kenya while in the Navy. Got taken under the wing by a local gangster after playing golf with him (and giving him American golf balls), and never had to buy a drink or a meal or anything else for a week. He even hooked us up with some weed, not that any Navy boys would touch that! They had very little ice or refrigeration, so we drank warm Tusker Lager and hot gin all night with the mayor of Mombasa, the Chief Surgeon at the hospital, some local pols, and a few gangsters. The only thing I remember was going out back to spew, and then drinking even more warm beer and gin. I wrote that guy Xmas cards and sent him golf balls for a few years, but lost track over the years. Always try to have a Tuskers now and again, if I see it.
