BEER

I would totally try an African Beer, I just haven't seen one before. That's one thing I do miss about Canada! Ontario has Beer stores.... (German 7-11 maybe? LOL) but in Quebec I was able to get Hacker-Pschorr Weiz Bier, and those lovely Quebecois White Beers I enjoy. I do like Molsen, as that is a good Beer too, and though I can't always afford exactly the Beer I want (I can't have Cognac every day either LOL) but I really like trying out Beer from different areas of the World. Irish Beer is really good too, and I've had some English Beer I've enjoyed.

I admit I'm NOT a fan of Boddingtons? I can't remember how it's spelled but it's not .... It tastes stale, on purpose! Simply not what I'm into is all. I also like IPAs which every once in a while, get made fun of, but personally I'm not worried about it; If it tastes good I'm there LOL. That's one thing I'll say about Michigan Beer; Two Hearted Ale is good, and it's like 7.1 % so you don't need a bunch to get the "mood" right haha.

LOL! Imagine trying to actually land that fish man; I'd be a little scared I imagine. They actually can get like 6 feet long, and have been reported attacking 10 foot Crocs. Talk about a scary fish! Jeremy Wade was there and caught one after a report about a girl who was bitten almost in half (It grabbed her on her side and almost cut her in half apparently) and one specimen was apparently almost 200 pounds I think ?..... I wouldn't swim in the river. A guy who caught one in a boat actually died before the fish jumped, and it ended up biting him on the throat.

Oh, if you guys would like one as a pet they have them from time to time on Predatory Fins LOL. I'll be honest here; I'm sticking to giant Catfish for "Monster Pets" as those Goliath Tiger Fish are crazy.

I mean, what do you even fish with? Tie a rope around a calf's leg and throw him in? I don't even like effing around with pike!

Live Bait is apparently all they go for. The Calf leg on the other hand might help land a Mazunda Catfish haha. I know Jeremy Wade used a saltwater Shimano Lever Drag Reel when he got that one but I feel like my Penn Lever Drag would handle it. Not sure how well I'd handle it but the gear could LOL.

I quit drinking some years back but I do like the new selection of NA beers coming out these days. I'd like to get back jnto brewing again, @JollyPete are you familiar with any of the distillation/reverse osmosis methods of alcohol removal?
Only in theory, never had the opportunity to do any of it first-hand. There's tons of good craft NA options now though, pretty damn cool. The easiest method in my opinion would be to just bring the postferm wort up to a boil before you carb, but depending on your setup, you can also do a really cold fermentation with ale yeast which in theory keeps the alcohol to a minimum.

I thought about that but I've heard that method tast3s like ass no matter what. I had a lemon Shandy recipe I was looking at to do a cold extraction (less sugars that way i believe?) and then trying the boil method. It's cut with lemonade, has a low OG, and minimal hops. I'm thinking that would be the best recipe to try that with. Probably gonna go all grain vs a kit on this.

Postferm boiling is how the big guys usually do it, though a lot just filter everything out of it too.

Yeah, theoretically you could just steep your grist in cold ass water then go about your business as usual, your OG oughta be pretty fuckin' low that way. Dilution is a good method too, just aim for like 3% outta, say, 3 gal and dilute to 5 with water or something.

Hmm, interesting. I'm probs gonna go out and grab a couple 6'ers from the store tonight. I usually have an athletic 24 pack come each month. But thats good to know, I was always warned that the boil off method was pretty crummy. Maybe if you really mind your temps and dont let it get over like 182 or whatever it is to start evaporating the alcohol. I was also considering putting like, 1/4 of the hops it calls for in the boil, and then double dry hopping at the end, cause, dry hopping kicks ass. I may do that lemon shandy and hop with an oz of Citra and an oz of Galaxy or Simcoe.

Edit: I dont think i said what was actually intereting about that to me. I had always seen the brewers using "propriatiary techniques" so I always thought they did something real fancy, but if all theyre doing is a boil off, I"m more intrigued that Its possible to do it and make it taste good. I just dont think i'd try it with a Pliney the Elder clone or something.

Yep, like you said, just mind your temps, keep them as low as you can, keep the liquid moving, you oughta be ok. You could adjust the grist with some corn or rice too to lighten it up for the inevitable Malliard that'll happen in the 'boil'

I totally agree with a lighter kettle hop and go with a ddh, an Italian style pils would play nice with some lemon rind, could maybe use a Belgian yeast and do a saison riff
